[RESOLVED] Wheel images not showing up. R-Type & R-Type2
joyrider3774 replied to Vladdo's topic in General
Minor side question but are you playing rtype using an extra controller or using pinball cabinet buttons? I'm guessing an extra controller but not sure -
[RESOLVED] Wheel images not showing up. R-Type & R-Type2
joyrider3774 replied to Vladdo's topic in General
It has todo with having certain game names (or description) in game manager and wheel images not using exact match for filenames, it's displaying other files for those games even though he had some images for it. I had a similar issue at one point in pinballfx3 where it displayed the same wheel for 2 games but i can't remember which games it was exactly. I managed to fix it by either using gamenames or a mix of game names and game descriptions as filenames for my wheel images. But it's possible this might not work with mame games. He probably has R-Type & R-Type 2 for game descriptions but in both cases it displaying RType2.png as wheel in the selection screen (probably from game name). if he removes RType2.png it displays rtype.png for R-Type and just the text logo (like if a wheel is missing) for R-Type 2 @Vladdo can you be more specific tell us exact game name & exact game description from database and exact wheel image filenames. Also you could try using either the gamenames (which i think with mame is the romname) from database as using full description name as filename for wheel image or try a mix, thats how i once managed to fix it but it's possible it won't work all the time. another trick might be to add something between brackets in game description. Pinballx does not show it inside the selection stuff. For example set R-type game description to "R-Type (XXXX)" and name your wheel image "R-Type (XXXX).png" for R-Type2 name it "R-Type2 (YYYY)" and name your wheel images R-Type (YYYY).png and make sure there are no wheel images left that match the game name (which should be the rom i think ,also not from other games). so no more RTYPE.PNG or RTYPE2.PNG That might be a workaround that works -
you can use a bat(ch) file as a launch after / launch before script for the system. For killing stuff taskkill should suffice in the batch file but you can do anything from inside batch files even powershell, vbscript etc by calling the executables. I sometimes use powershell if i need to run something elevated (as administrator). for launch before stuff i also use autohotkey scripts which i compile to exe's and run from bat files

take a screenshot while the game is running like it would when running as if it was finished, then using gimp or something else zoom in on the picture and position mouse cursor on top left and bottom right writing down coordinates. Then if needed take into account any previous monitors (if you for example display the dmd on backglass and you want to mirror that) including rotation of screens (1920x1080 vs 1080x1920 etc for playfield). Thats how i do it usually if i mirror some dmd

need to check the pinball_wicked_launcher.zip a few posts up it's all explained there and everything is in that zip, the files still work as they are attached to forum, just downloaded it

It's probably just the database file, the default one pinballx comes with does not have all tables in it, you need to add the missing ones or get a complete database from here somewhere. It does not autodetect the tables its more or less virtual, you have to add the gamenames yourself your missing Edit: i saw someone asking same question as original poster here very recently could be it was the same person, someone just sended him the complete database xml and he said it was fixed. So could be if it was same person the problem is already resolved

Have you opened and read the log? It says it can't initialze the flash system and to delete flash.ocx file in pinballx installation directory and reinstall pinballx again after doing that. Did you already try that?

Recent tutorial for PinballX with TPA FreeCamMod?
joyrider3774 replied to Powerus's topic in General
Just to be clear are you using the freecammod dmd window which you can move around and not the internal on playfield dmd along with latest tpa on win 10 and cabinet mode on freecammod enabled? With me it used to work but after some update it broke and never was able to fix it, i'm not the only person with this problem. But anyway good you have it working. You could record your own video's or check the ftp if you got access. I don't have the williams tables as i bought everything after they removed the tables but i do have docklets wheels and table video's i think i record partially myselve and partially from files on ftp -
Recent tutorial for PinballX with TPA FreeCamMod?
joyrider3774 replied to Powerus's topic in General
Should also note that with some people including me the dmd stuff of freecammod does not work anymore for already a while and seems it wont be fixed. I only use freecammod now to launch the tables, backglass i display myselve and i also use the ingame dmd now. So i'm not using the cabinet mode of it anymore only the ability to launch specific tables. Tutorials are indeed not needed if you understand how everything is setup in pinbalkx and what setting does what and knowing the commandline parameters of the systems your setting up -
Help .... adapt whel to all underlay?
joyrider3774 replied to slashguns04's topic in PinballX Media Projects
i don't think it's possible to get it 100% correct, the underlay has some maximum (height) that can be used if i remember correctly and it also gets scaled i created my own underlay based on the standard underlay or at least i think it was a standard underlay not sure where i had gotten it. With me it looks like this -
as you might have noticed there are no media for spooky deluxe nor for strike deluxe. The reason is that the display has changed for deluxe tables, it now shows a backbox on the backglass but i'm experiencing a bug with the display of this backbox when cabinet mode is enabled (as shown / explained here https://steamcommunity.com/app/444930/discussions/10/1750150188482855046/ ) as soon as they fix this i'll try making video's of the backglass + playfield as the backglass is animated now on deluxe tables. but i don't want to do double work so i have not created anything for the new tables yet and probably won't until they fix this bug

Mega Docklets Style Zaccaria Pinball Wheel Images

GameName is strikedeluxe, also check the docklets topic for new wheel / logo images also available on ftp. On ftp topper video is also available (in my directory) <game name="strikedeluxe"> <description>Strike Deluxe (Magic Pixel 2020)</description> <rom></rom> <manufacturer>Magic Pixel</manufacturer> <year>2020</year> <type>DX</type> <hidedmd>True</hidedmd> <hidetopper>True</hidetopper> <hidebackglass>True</hidebackglass> <enabled>True</enabled> <rating>0</rating> </game>

no subdirectory support. If you have a folder for vpx tables and another folder for vp9 tables you should create 2 systems
-
not sure if it's that what your looking for but check PinballX\Media\Startup Images or browse through the other folders in media sections not belonging to a system to see if you can replace any

15 in settings.exe 20 through editing pinballx.ini see should be possible to load games using pinballx heck someone even used it to display comicbooks using a comic book reader. since you are a lifetime member you should also have access to gameex but i have never looked at it and don't know exactly if it has the same look as pinballx"

Can you disable pinballx autostart, so windows only loads to desktop wait a minute and start pinballx manually does it still fail then? Or exit pinballx and start pinballx again Also you mention b2s you are certain the problem is inside pinballx not showing your dmd video and not in visual pinball when actually launching a game? Just to be sure we know the problem is visual pinball or pinballx as there is a difference
-
When you disable pinballx autostart at windows start, is your dmd display detected and if so is it immediately detected? If not immediatly but after some time try starting pinballx through a batch files which uses a delay before starting pinballx.exe from the batch file. I would consider this to be a windows problem and not a pinballx problem as you have to physically detach your screen and reconnect it. So pinballx probably can't detect your dmd screen and there is nothing programmatically pinballx can do to fix this. Only thing i can think off is adding a delay to launching pinballx but that will only work if windows actually detects your dmd vga screen without disconnecting it. Does your videocard have other connections for exampke dvi or displayport as for both exists adaptors to hdmi which might give you the option to use all 3 screens with your videocard and nothing onboard it might also fix the problem

if you have the problem by exiting the game using normal exit way of the game you got a problem somewhere else i think. verify in taskmanager.exe when you exit that zaccariapinball.exe actually is closed. I just test on my cabinet again, i get a blackscreen for like 3 seconds (which is normal) before menu of pinballx is shown again so everything works normally for me. One reason i can think of is that for some reason with you zaccariapinball.exe is not exited with you correctly (which you can verify in taskmanger). It's also possible these lines are causing problems with you i have not included them in my version of the script it was added at a later time but i have my doubts about this you can try to remove them and test (don't forgot to right click ahk file and choose compile after modifying the script) It's also possible you did not change the path correctly here to your zaccaria xml database causing problems or pinballx.ini and if you do want to use that you need to change System_7 to the one specified in the ini file (in your case it's System_2) normally it should not give problems but i left it out in my version so never tested with it otherwise no idea, i run my zaccaria without admin but i do run pinballx with admin rights and my quit emulator key is set to ESC edit: it's probably the 2nd part i talked about as i see you have your pinball stuff on the d:\ drive

i'm using the script from 1st post and i uploaded my xml a few posts ago. you know which table you select in pinballx right then you can post the tablename here (including retro / remake / deluxe flag). you also did not say if you modified the script again to link to your xml file as explained in the 1st post. Also don't forget to right click and compile the script. I have no problems whatsoever with the script

It would help if you said which table or which table type. The script is still working fine for me. Maybe you are having problems with the dx tables. And if you updated the script which you need todo for dx table support you must provide correct path to xml again.

be sure to overwrite the BGR topper video's, as i redid them all same for pinball fx3, zaccaria etc. zaccaria logo wheels (not the docklet ones) i added retro and year labels although for those versions i think we need to rename them to alt or add a logo tag as i don't think game manager will search in subdirectories, i think it's possible using a batch file to append logo at the end but not sure on ftp. i also updated the bingo game room megalink with the new topper video's Should i create a mega version as well from zaccaria so they can be used in your app? the problem is i did not create all the logo's i used before adding the labels, some where made by @Draco1962, one other person i can't remember and some by me (well extracted from backglass) i only extracted the logo's initially from docklet wheel again and now added those extra labels. The bingo game room ones i did create all by myselve so thats why i had created those mega links already to be used with the app

Ok i spent the afternoon modifying the logo only versions of the wheels to add the year or retro label. Availble on ftp here "/-PinballX-/Other Uploads/Joyrider3774/Zaccaria Pinball/Wheel Images logo" also redid all the topper video's, logo's are much more readable now, created using a test version from @Mike_da_Spike tool which has options now to not first downscale the logos. I'm sure he'll release it soon for everyone. " /-PinballX-/Other Uploads/Joyrider3774/Zaccaria Pinball/Topper Videos" Here are some examples of the new logo's and topper video's Logo wheels: topper video's including labels. robot2018.mp4 robotretro.mp4 blackbelt2018.mp4 blackbeltretro.mp4
