I just tested it on my cab (and noticed I'm not on latest release of PinballX -shame- -shame-) I'm running VP 10.8 rev 1514, Pinmame 3.6 SC and noticed that my SMB3.zip had an error (this was changed when moving to pinmame 3.5. After fixing the rom, I was able to launch SMB again. Strange part is that your log is launching smb, but the rom found is Genie. Thats one I don't understand. I also see you run pinballx as administrator. It will not fix your issue, but it not needed to run pinballx as admin. What is in your dmddevice.log, after you launch the game ?(properly this file exists in the directory c:\Visual Pinball And if your exit pinballx, launch a command prompt and launch : "c:\Visual Pinball\VPinballX.exe" /play -"c:\Visual Pinball\Tables\Super Mario Bros (Gottlieb 1992)_Bigus(MOD)2.0.vpx" Will it work correctly ? What version of visual pinball you use ? And what architecture?

AutoPositionPinMAME is still set to true in your ini. Change the value when pinballx is closed

First try to set AutoPositionPinMAME=false in de settings.exe (or in your ini) to check if your issue will be gone. Thats the only thing thaT PinballX is doing with the 'DMD'(PINMAME) for VP

Open Vosual pinball, go to ideo settings and enable "full screen exclusive " mode. Withing pinbalx (via settings .exe) enable full screen exclusive hack as well. Latest Pinballx version is 6.02. Ease updat If you still got issues, ease attach your new log file and settings file

Nice ! You can always check with a free ftp program if ftp server is available. And if you use DBM (databasemanager), it will give an error message if you have issues connecting to ftp

Cool that the GL version is working fine for you. To be honest, I still don't get why DX version is not working for you one some tables. if it is only VPW tables that is giving issues, try to changes the lightning settings in the table config (via magna keys) for example, this is a settings that could cause issues as well : But also this settings (just taken from my, as @scutters calls is, crappy PC) can be very important can give you extra FPS Just play with these settings (same as Ambient occlusion, reflection mode and lower texture dimensions).

I use a newer version of vp (i though im on rev 1510, that almost 200 revisions newer as yours :p) i use dx version for cabinet as well (only use gl for vr) As there are a lot of cjanges, try one of the latests dx versions as well

I tested today to put my OS set to 4k and set VPX to 2k on 144 Hz PinballX is launching, can star ta table (in 2k) And I can exit. Did it multiple times and all worked Attached is log file as well. What I don't understand, is that you can put VP in a lower resolution, but you don't use full screen mode. (so windows mode) will that not cause an issue when playing in a deferent resolution ? if I set it to non Full screen it will show like this : launching a game from PinballX results to this (even when I turn off full screen mode so not sure what I'm doing wrong (even with the above, I can quit all games and relaunch new ones) EDIT: in newer VPW tables you can also bring up a menu via yhe magna keys. There is an optio "vpw light". Try to turn those off on tables that doesnt run smooth in 4k log.txt

I cannot believe that some tables will not run smoothly when you lower down some settimgs. Is your tv also doing nvidia sync ?

I think scutters means to have the pc in 4k and place vpx in 4k as well. Tweak vpx so it can run all tables. With 10.8 you can have a sett8ngs file per table as well. Maybe lowering the AA for specific tables makes vpx run better. I had in the past a 2070 running at 4k (2 screen setup) and all those tables working like a charm.

Ok I didnt see in your log the full screen exclusive hack enabled. @Tom Speirs, is this something you can fix in code? I have other games (like fx, fx3 and pinball wicked), running on differrent resolution as windows, but they all close fine for me

Lotr didn't exited by PinballX. Dont see any exit in the log. Are you running vpx by change as administrator ?

How do you change the resolution? Differrent pinballx ini file ? Or running a script that changes windows resolution ? And you said it iscausing issues woth 10.7 as well, how do you change the resolution ? Or is vpinball always set lower than windows resolution ? I run in 2k at 165 hz without issues on my 3080

Do you use a playfield screen with high refreshrate as well?

A couple of years ago, we ( @scutters and myself, not others) recommended to run PinballX as Admin. But at a sudden moment, it wasn't necessary anymore. I though I marked it in the documentation as well. I run W11 as well, and have UAC enabled (gives a popup when need in higher privilege mode), but I can run everything without running in higher privilege mode, so my cab is running in a better security mode now

odd, I don't have any issues with any version of VPX. So, is Vpinball closing or is it open in the back ground ? I see you are running PinballX as Admin (thanks @Tom Speirs for adding this). this is not needed. PinballX and Visual Pinball should NOT be run with admin. just run both exes as normal users EDIT: You also run JoyToKey.exe, why should you do that ? PinballX and VP both work with joysticks and all joysticks buttons can be assigned

Nais ! So your PinDmv3 is working fine with the latest PinballX ? I have since version 4.x a lot of issues with my pinDMDv3 with PinbalLX. Games takes a lot of time to load and exiting PinballX takes a lot of time

Maybe stupid question, but why are you running pinvol.exe everytime you launch a table ? I thought that pinvol can be launched just once and it will just grab the settings of that specific table Which revision of Vpinball 10.8 are you running ? (10.8 is still beta and can be caused by that) Try to add -minimized to your launch parameters and remove the - sign before the filename zo like this : -play "[TABLEPATH]\[TABLEFILE]" -Minimized Not sure if your VPX is runing in Full screen exclusive mode,, if so, set the rxclusive hack to yes in your system : If you don't run full exclusive mode, within VPX, try setting this and set the hack to yes as well Hope this helps

Your log file doesn't show any capture. Not for your backglass and dmd as well If you try the upper button 'create videos' that give you the dialog I showed and post a log after that. If that doesnt work, try Database Manager(from downloads section) and run a "MEDIA AUDIT" and paste the results in a textfile .

Can you post a log file after you create a video as well ? Do you already have video files for that table ? how did you set the following dialog ?
