Please attach your pinballx\config\pinballx.ini & pinballx\log\log.txt files (after a crash occurs) Can you also let us know if there is any pattern to the crashes (same table in the wheel? etc, might be corrupt media for one table)

I think he just wants to replace the default loading.gif image with a 'smoother round the edges' loading.apng version. (so not using loading folders but playfields images option under Table Loading media mode where the image is overlayed on a snapshot table image) If he attaches the apng frames or the apng as a zip could they maybe be added to the loading video builder as an alternative?

[PLUGIN] PinballX Loading Video & Image Changer (de-randomiser) V2
scutters replied to scutters's topic in User Projects
The plugins don't 'talk' to each other so it's not possible with how they currently work.. but Mike's right, when launching a random table i think the chosen table should remain unknown until it's loaded. Let the suspense build!!- 35 replies

Strange. Maybe it was a corrupt file in your loading videos folder or something, i can see how that could have caused an issue... but's it's just a guess!
-
Hmm, still quite a lot of button pressing involved in that!. Maybe best as a feature request for PinballX to add a jump by 5 tables in the wheel, or by 5 letters in the alphabet if a a flipper or page button is used in conjunction with another button instead of single table / single alphabet letter?
-
Not sure a plugin could interact with the wheel without being creative.... but what game would it then select? However the table name is entered it's going to be a lot of button presses anyway as far as i can see, so not sure it would even help either.
-
I think you're attempting to re-use existing buttons to make them dual purpose? E.g. during game a nudge button and a flipper press as the same time will adjust volume, but one at a time will be normal gameplay?. I suspect that if you do get this to work it will be far from ideal, and when adjusting volume the in game nudge will also fire along with a flipper. Maybe you could try something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ecarke-Keyboard-Mechanical-Keyboards-Programming/dp/B096ZR72QV/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=usb%2Bmini%2Bkeyboard&qid=1636459090&sr=8-11&th=1 mounted out of site under the cab or something if you don't want more visible buttons on the cab?. Note - i don't have one so i can't confirm how well they work, but the description indicates it can work for windows volume control (or you could map it as a key input for volume in pinballx?).. 2 key version for vol up/down or a 3 key version for up/down & mute etc.
-
I'm not sure how well that would work as you'd also need a 'launch after' to stop pinemhi monitor - and that may stop the monitor before it has had chance to read the score from nvram and submit it to the leaderboard. Nothing to stop you trying it, but pinemhi is tiny really so i don't think it'll be much of a factor even on low ram systems. I'd try it starting with windows and see how you get on.

Not sure you want to adjust volume in PinballX or 'in game'.. A plugin could work for in PinballX but not sure how much use that would be, pinvol is generally recommended as the best for in-game already (maybe you could use it with joytokey?). Me?, I have a griffin powermate mounted vertically below my plunger that works as a volume dial. Don't think they do them anymore, but you might find one (or similar) cheap on ebay that could do the job for you instead.

Log file shows this; 14:49:10.11 04/11/2021: Error initializing flash engine. 14:49:10.11 04/11/2021: Please try deleting flash.ocx in the installation folder and then reininstall PinballX. 14:49:10.11 04/11/2021: You may need to change security properties on the file. Not sure if that would affect png instruction cards showing, but it will be a factor for swf files. Try deleting flash.ocx and then reinstall PinballX to the same location as it suggests. Let us know if that resolves the problem for png and/or swf cards. (btw - nice to see the stats plugin for pinballx being used )
-
Assuming you've named the instruction cards the same as the flyers, then as the flyers work i guess it's something to do with your config. Are you a desktop user by any chance?, instruction cards appear on my backglass (not sure where they should be for single screen users, if anywhere). Please attach copies of your pinballx\config\pinballx.ini and pinballx\log\log.txt files so we can check them.

Use your page buttons to skip by one letter at a time (make sure the page/nudge left & right are setup in PinballX input settings).
-
You need a plugin; All the info is in the first post, hopefully it all makes sense. If not let me know, cheers.

No. The mouse pointer should be visible when you exit PinballX. Exit PinballX before changing settings. If you are exiting PinballX (cleanly via the menu option) and you still can't see the mouse pointer then that is an issue.
-
That shouldn't happen (and you're the first to report an issue like it). Please can you attach your \Pinballx\config\PinballX.ini, \Pinballx\Log\Log.txt and \Pinballx\plugins\PBXLoadingImage_log.txt files and i'll have a look. Can you also let me know if the pattern for getting a random video shown is consistently if you have over ~150 loading videos, or if it is only with some tables (or systems). Thanks. Edit - please make sure the log files attached are after a random loading video is used

Tom, Mikes issue is due to using unicode / alt code characters in the xml. I just tried with the sample databases for .net 5 v5.22 and as soon as I add them into the sample xml (table description field) i get the same error. Updated sample database xml attached that fails Visual Pinball.xml
-
I'd say so.. as the .net 5 version is a test version at the moment, keeps things together? Always use the latest version Mike!

A couple of other small things i noticed with the log too, operating system isn't recognised; 06:43:10.78 20-10-2021: PinballX - Version 5.20 x64 06:43:10.80 20-10-2021: Unknown Operating System cpu cores / threads wrong; 06:43:11.69 20-10-2021: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 06:43:11.69 20-10-2021: 1 core, 1 thread And nothing to identify it as the '.PinballX net 5' version Sorry for jumping in your thread Mike but i thought these were low hangers that are worth mentioning for Tom when he looks at your problem. Btw, do you get the same with v5.22?

Try using your email address instead of username;

Is the backglass the wrong ratio in PinballX too?. Sounds like screenres.txt file (in VP\Tables folder) for VP, that might have changed if autoconfigure is set in PinballX for VP (ini file will show that). Not sure why it would change in an update though. @mgslisser Might be worth attaching the screenres.txt file too and letting us know what your backglass screen resolution is
