  1. Hey Dave, Ill certainly look at implementing random startup videos. It is in fact an issue I need to fix in gameex with the placement and sizing. Its nothing to do with the codecs. Its more of an issue with Microsoft Managed DirectX, or really lack of features available for Video Playback.
  2. I suspect this will just lead to more hacked version of MAME circulating the web, so I am not so sure it was a good idea of MAME Dev. However, if someone was to tell me where I can download 0.96, Ill be happy to hos it on my site, unless I get complaints. Let me know. Thanks, Tom.
  3. Does it exit the process list eventually after some time? I don think its VPAuto.exe either. Its probably something to do with Visual Pinball messing up DirectX. Can you capture and post your log when GameEx wont shut down please? I want to see where its getting stuck.
  4. In Regard to 1, do you have direct input turned on (input settings)?
  5. 27th August 2005 V 0.35 Supports drag & drop
  6. 27th August 2005 V 0.3 Should have full compatibility now (Crashtests Surf Planet and Elevator Action Returns now play). Basically all files 'should' play now. Thanks Crashtest!
  7. I recommend not using the official DivX at all, but using FFDSHOW (its free and better) http://ffdshow.sf.net As well as not having an annoying tray icon which minimizes GameEx, its actually better quality and dare I say more stable. It also provides just about every codec you need for playing avi files. I can say its extremely stable and it saves installing a bunch of different seperate codecs. I think it also provides an ogg filter for media player, among loads of other good stuff, including audio filters including volume levelling. Cheers.
  8. Sorry about that Hobo. Well done RetroMan your the first to get banned from the group. Congratulations. You better hope you dont have a static IP address. Good Bye. EDIT: Just for info for anyone, it was the last sentence that did it for me so you dont have to be afraid of being banned! I have enough fun with my young nephews in my family life to want childish and unproductive behaviour for my hobby.
  9. Thanks for reporting Ange, The first two should deffinitly be fixed in .2. Go grab it. How do MAME MNG's play now? Your (most excellent by the way (hope Orc dont see this ) MNG's seem (mostly) perfect to me now. Although I always have a few that play slow whatever I do. A good example of this is 720. Do you know if this plays in AdvanceMAME full speed?
  10. 27th August 2005 All timing and synchronization issues should be fixed. Added missing file msvcrtd.dll to install. Much less CPU usage.
  11. 27th August 2005 Version 0.27 released. Updated to work with latest MAME.
  12. Actually it was the verify sets. Should be fixed in 0.27, but yourll probably need to update the list again.
  13. Many thanks for the info Jonny. It's there now. Tom
  14. Prett OT but You looking for CD E.G C:/documents and settings/Jimbo/My Documents:> CD / C:/> CD MAME C:/MAME/> (Slash is reversed cos of forum)
  15. Just to stop the chinese whispers for a second: I dont ever remember saying GameEx was 'freeware'. I dont like branding stuff, that must have been said elsewhere. I might have said it was free though. Which I believe technically it is. OK. There's nothing to stop you guys using another front end, please post alternatives here if you like, but at this present moment in time, you wont find another front end, with these things, or as good as (so I am told). Forum Support Ease of use Functionality Updates Rapid bug fixes Rapid implementation of high quality custom developed feature requests. Full HTPC features Polished, professional, commercial grade. Versatility Support for emulators Quality of web space The list goes on (really id does , but to be honest I would rather GameEx sell itself, thats the kind of Software developer I am. I believe quality should speak for itself. I mean how many copies did Atari 2600 Pac Man sell. Was it shit, oh yes it was! Donating really is still optional you know, if you really cant afford $15, ie are unemployed, under 16, or destitute then just have the nag screen. If your the last, Ill probably give you a free unlock. If you dont agree, your comments are welcome, but remember there other front ends out there, if your taking the time to whine, I am guessiung you prefer GameEx. I believe choice and freedom of speech is important. Be constuctive if you can though. AND the final point is: You are donating for my time (which costs) and costs involved in hosting etc, NOT GameEx. As it says on the donation page, I regularly PAY other coders to implement things in GameEx. It was not Free before, it was expensive, to ME. Believe it or not, if you have an intelligent think about all this, me doing this now the way I have is a very positive thing for the future of the project, and the overall cost to me and YOU.
  16. Thanks Rob. For your info. Its worth pointing people to the run last game batch file in the GameEx program group. This is what GameEx runs when launching any game for any system. Basically what I say is if it dont work with that its not a specific GameEx issue. Cheers.
  17. I very much doubt it was GameEx that caused the corruption. It uses the .net framework which is more secure, stable and creates less bugs than applications coded without. GameEx does nothing low level with files or folders. Unless possibly your talking about Video snaps. I cant think of anyway how Gameex directly could do that. You should probably check out other things on your PC. You are welcome to your conclusion though, and sharing you thoughts. Thanks. Tom.
  18. MNGer - A Simple Windows MNG Animation player http://tomspeirs.com/mnger MNGer is media player for MNG videos/animations. Since MAME now supports MNG I have made this small player. It associates MNG files with the player upon setup, and is a very quick, nice easy way to play MNG videos, and also plays supporting MP3's' if available Its simple to setup, configure and simple to use, and works just like any basic Media Player. After setup either launch the application, or just double click on a MNG file to play. Requirements: .net framework 1.1 News: 25th August 2005 First version made public. Source code will be released very shortly, just need to tidy it up (I don't want to look too stupid!)
  19. If Paypal lets you do that, yes. I dont know.
  20. Actually it could a little, but I wont explain. I can't stop anyone but I prefer only the latest version is hosted.
  21. Yes, I'm in England.

    GameEx

Yes, but he's using Windows 98.....

    Zinc

Did you do an update list after you added Zinc? Is Zinc set to enable? If so the other to check is that Zinc is set to show up as a seperate list (under MAME). This is under Enable/Disable in the config app. Make sure HideZinc is no.
  24. Hab, please have some comprehension not only for the costs involved in hosting, and the time it takes to develop GameEx, but also the huge amount of time involved in getting it to work on everyone's pc, ANdD also the time taking supporting. This topic alone has taken at least 20 minutes of time Today. Ill never get rich asking for $15. Which actually amounts to me then less then £9 pounds, but as djrobx it keeps me somewhat motivated to keep going, at least for the moment. Come on get realistic Hab. EDIT: And no, previously the donations link was not enough, got next to nothing, apart from a few keen grown up enthusiasts (which I cannot thank enough).
