Yes they can be played in place of snapshots. With the very latest version intermediate versions of MAME you can create the them by pressing Left Shif F12 when in a game. Although Crashtest has done all the work for you and already made 4GB worth. See the Links/Extra page on the GameEx site for more info. Cheers
Thanks Rob, correct. In terms of hard disk space used after the install over 90% are graphics for the themes. The Program files after the install are about 10MB. Themes about 130MB.
You should be able to download now, but no that error has no relation to fixes in the latest version. Check your sound card, and drivers are good, and enabled. This is purely to do with you sound card, as far as I can see.
30th August 2005 V 1.30 Now shows last frame when stopping the video or when its reached the end. Faster screen refresh (a bit smoother). Previously when stopping the MNG, it would still be playing on a thread in the background. Did no harm but would be taking up a bit more memory.
The Lite verion does the same install, but turns off any non gaming features in GameEx such as the web browser and media player. This makes GameEx take a lot less memory when running, and automatically cofigures it for just games usage.
30th August 2005 - GameEx 4.94 Seems I removed a file from the install which meant GameEx would error on startup. If GameEx causes error on startup get this version.
That'll be the Server side Orc script. Glad its working! Although I am glad you got off your ass and did something productive , it seems Mnger only works on 2000 and XP and not 98. You should buy, rent or steal a copy of 2000 really, but I'm looking into the issue. Cheers.
You may have ftr and skip_disclaimer setup in your mame.ini file. That could be it. Do games launch when you exit GameEx and select run last game from the program menu group?
29th August 2005 - GameEx 4.90 Now uses the latest version of MNG, and via the DLL. MNG Timing has been improved. And any playback issues or playback speed issues should be no more MNG playback should basically be perfected now
28th August 2005 V 1.01 The first non beta version. Uses the latest MNG version DLL, and no VC debug libraries. Files that previously played too slow should play fine, and MNG playback should now be perfected.
Thanks for the feedback oh mighty Orc. I've added command line options for the latest version just uploaded. This should allow front ends or front end developers to utilize Minger. Ill also be releasing some docs and source code for the benefit of the community. ie front end developers. The way development of MAME is the MNG features probably be removed in a couple of version anyway. Just kidding, lets hope not. I still would rather have AVI support in MAME though. That is deffinitly the most missed feature in my opinion. Cheers tosser. Tom.
28th August 2005 V 0.40 New command line options and features for integration with Front Ends. '-fullscreen' plays the MNG full screen and exits when MNG is complete '-fixaspect' attempts to detect MAME game orientation and fix the aspect ratio to 4:3 or 3:4 e.g. mnger.exe c:\mame\snap\1942.mng -fullscreen -fixaspect Now exits when escape key is pressed.
