  1. hmmm. Although you said it worked before you installed 2.0? Well I REinstalled Visual Studio 6 SP5 and Visual C++ is still not showing in Help -> About that its using a service pack. Is this normal? I am guessing it is. Seems to be the Beta .net. This Beta crap the companys are pulling (not just MS) is really starting to piss me off. Beta means not finished, it seems they put it out as shiny new, latest. For the download for the .net 2.0 version theres no warning, such as this is Beta and all the warnings users used to get. What the f%£! is up with that! Sorry for the rant! Although I expect the dictionaries will be adding to "Beta" in a few years. "Beta=Latest Innovation" Probably.
  2. Not sure I understand. Theres an option for GameEx to use the current system resolution, and not change resolution or you can use a set resolution and GameEx will change to it. If a resolution is specified in a theme.ini file this will override the resolution that is set, but the included themes dont use the setting to not switch res, so that wont be overriden. Clarify what your asking please.
  3. Sorry can you confirm, you install Beta 2 and all is fine?
  4. I dont understand where these associations come from, I just get the ones listed above, can you post a few screen shots? I am pretty sure the old versions will work, but they really are not so good, and not compatible anymore. I think I have found the problem though, I dont seem to have any service pack installed for Visual Studio 6 C++. Stupid idiot I am or what. Ill post back in a few once Ive checked this out. Cheers. Tom
  5. 11th September 2005 - GameEx 5.07 Themes now support PNG's All themes included in install converted to PNG's. No more Bitmaps. This means the GameEx install now takes a third of the hard disk space, and the Install file itself is 1.5MB smaller. Note: This does not mean transparency/alpha is now supported. New shortcut in Start Menu program group to create MAME snap videos for every game! You can also use this to create missing MNG videos from Crashtests set. It wont overwrite existing. Have a video for 'every' single game I'd like feedback on the above. Uninstall no longer deletes custom input file and included advanced emulator configs. I highly recommend doing an uninstall before installing this version to free up about 200MB of hard disk space by deleting all the old theme bitmaps. Your own themes using bitmaps should still work, if you've modified the included themes, as usual back them up before uninstalling or installing. http://tomspeirs.com/gameex
  6. With depends.exe, I only get the following dependicies, which look pretty normal to me: kernel32.dll ntdll.dll user32.exe gdi32.dll ole32.dll advapi32.dll rpcrt4.dll msimg32.dll I've tried tidying up the DLL a little (and yes Rob I compiled it myself, its something I've coded) Can you try replacing the files in the attached zip and see if its any better? Also Rob, what sort of dependencies do you get with this version? Thanks, Tom PlayVideoDLLS.zip
  7. Unfortunatly that error really sheds no light to me. I have no idea why it can't load it. I am thinking it must be some kind of dependancy that is required that you don't have, but I don't know what it is. Could you try a reinstall of DirectX? Anyone else have any ideas!? Tom.
  8. Please replace GameEx.exe with the one attached, and post the log. Thanks. Tom GameEx.zip
  9. Sorry I think that was bogus info, or not the correct fix. Otherwsie what version of the .net Framework do you have. ie 1.0 or 1.1?
  10. Bizzare post, but I liked the track
  11. I've been told this happens with 2.0.4xx of the .net framework and 2.0.50215 fixes it. Can you confirm please, or if your not running version 2.0 let me know? Cheers. To save you searching: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en

    SEND KEYS

Its working perfectly for me, in fact much better compatibility with emulators. What special code is {v}? I don't recall {v} being a special code? Did you try {BACKSPACE}^v{ENTER}?
  13. Just a useless bit of information, the first version of GameEx was released exactly 1 year and 1 week ago. It's come a long way since then. Anyone out there been using the project that long?
  14. By the way I have an application I wrote years back to automatically create MAP files for MAME if you wanted to use some weird build, or setup MAME as an emulator for something like above. It's here: http://tomspeirs.com/gamelauncher/
  15. I think maybe your getting a little confused. I am talking about windows shortcuts not batch files. You can use batch files though of course, and I believe it would be possible to set up an emulator for MAME Replays, but you probably dont even need a batch file for that. If someone wants to take on the challenge of creating an emu config for mame replays that would be cool. This is this weekends GameEx challenge

    SEND KEYS

I updated the SendKeys functions to use new API code. That's why. I will look it into it shortly. Could you try removing the spaces and capitalising though? It should be working.
  17. Thanks Nicolas, although I think he was talking about Commodore 64, not N64.
  18. I just wanted to tell anyone that has setup an emulator config for PC games, or is using batch files for say Fruit machine emulators, that: Several versons back I implemented support for shortcut/.lnk files in GameEx for emulators. They should be able to be called directly as a rom. e.g CMD="[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" It could save you a lot of time coding all those batch files. Cheers. Tom
  19. I dont remember this, but I do like the idea, and I think I'll do it.
  20. Its a good idea, and possibly it can, I will look at this.
  21. Just dont check "setup for gaming". The install will remember your settings, even if it is setup for games only.
  22. Did you check 'For games usage only?' I think the thing to do is not uninstall, just install, and dont check the Games usage only on a new install. It really is designed to keep your settings. I dont understand why this has just happened. From what I understand youve been through a few upgrades?
  23. It must have been the uninstall that did it. As the install only creates it if it does not exist. I would have thought if you have changed the file, the unisntall would not have deleted it. You could try it to find out, I expect it wont crash, as it only creates it if it does not exist. I've found an uninstall is not even needed for upgrading anyway.
  24. It mioght be closer to 15-20 seconds. As there is another wait before GameEx starts sending the keys. Perhaps its too long at the moment, I just wanted to make sure I give MAME a chance to load up as if its validting big ROMS it can take a while.
  25. I just upped 5.05 and I am pretty sure I've fixed the issues where after exiting attract mode GameEx is closed. I think the bypass setting should work now. Can people test for me? It seems to be working for me. Cheers.
