  1. Cant you just select config from GameEx program group on the start menu? There really is no need to edit ini files anymore.
  2. I think thats the way is going to stay in the near future.
  3. Retroguy, when MAME32 is run from the command line (as GameEx runs it), the actual settings you specified in the MAME32 front are not used. You either need to specifiy the options in the Command line (in GameEx Config), or create and use a MAME.ini file. This is all because MAME32 GUI is set to use different settings than when run from the command line. If you turn off Triple buffer it should fix your sound issues. Dont know about VBA though. Might be a similar thing. Cheers.
  4. Thanks for your help Rob, although I think this is because of the version of MAME there using. GameEx only supports versions of MAME that output XML for the games data. This is in newer versions only. Silver, you need to use a newer version of MAME I think.
  5. Yes, there are settings for that.
  6. I looked into this and timed attract mode, each game is supposed to run for 3 minutes, but seemed to run for 10 minutes on my system. Ive fixed the issue by changing the timing code, and the next version should fix this. It also has quite a few more attract mode options including being able to play videos and specify how long each game runs for. I am sure it will fix your issue. Should be out next few days. Cheers.
  7. I am sorry, but its still as I said. You could of course completely delete the gameex install by deleting the directory as djrobx said, but I think yourll find exactly the same thing. As I said this issue has come up several times, and its normally the same circumstances, completely new installs. I deliberatly put in that error message to identify it. I still have no idea why this happens.
  8. Yes the slowdown would be the ram, as is the delay between menus, and probably GameEx not coming back up, although the last is more of an issue I need to address.
  9. Thanks for reporting, saves me trying it out. I'm not too concerned though, if it was RC3 I would be though.
  10. I often find myself loading up GameEx or walking over to the cab just to check on news from Slashdot and MSDN. What feeds are you using? Please share with us. I may add them to GameEx by default. Cheers. Tom.
  11. Sorry got not getting back to you sooner: This is a Windows 98 specific thing where the launcher exits before the game is finished. There is a way round it. On your CMD for Snes9x prefix with: START /WAIT e.g START /WAIT snes9x.exe [ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE] Give it a go. You should be able to get it going.
  12. Its as the error says. I've seen this problem a few times. Something gets messed up on the users PC and this happens. Its not to do with editing GameEx.ini. Please try and think what has changed on your system, this will really help others. Now only one suggestion to fix this. Go into Contol Panel, go into Administration Tools. Select .net Framework Wizards and try to 'repair' the applications. If that does not work, the only fix I know about is to reinstall the OS. NOTE: GameEx has not caused this, its something else on your system.
  13. Are you giving it long enough, it takes about 3-4 minutes? Does the game exit if you press any key, or just escape? Aso if Gamepad button 6, or keys 3, 5 or 6 are pressed the game wont exit. Could that be it?
  14. GameEx, does not support external players. unless you using something completly seperate like Arcade Jukebox. It does not use Meida Player for playing the files, just for getting the tag information for the files. The only other way to do it would be to have an 'Update/Import' in GameEx for music where I would read the tags and store in a file. This is probably a good idea, that I may look at. It will also better allow ogg and m4a files which GameEx support but the Media Player lib does not.
  15. Dont know. Are you sure they were not copied? It works for me. Maybe they were just moved in the ini file? It does backup your original config by the way, as GameEx.UpgradeBackup.ini.

    moderators!??

I agree with this, we've been very lucky so far.

    moderators!??

You are absolutely right Night. I am looking at this. I dont think you need to physically need to be a moderator to help other users though. You and others are doing a great job so far, and I ignore a lot of posts where I think people like yourself can help out. Please do feel free to answer and help other users. That goes to all GameEx experts! Just for your info there is one other moderator who has access to modify, and move posts etc other than me and that is djrobx (Rob). He's mostly taken a back seat, but I've given him the power over posts, for him to do what he thinks is needed. Mainly he's big help with bugs and enhancments etc as you say the second type of mod. Thanks. Tom
  18. These are used with each new version when you install, so your settings are not lost. There run at the end of the install program, to upgrade your settings. They serve no purpose unless your installing GameEx. Tom
  19. Thanks for reporting, this is now fixed in 4.73.
  20. Which version of Windows Media Player do you have? Which version of Windows do you have?
  21. I think the issue is not to do with your Game Pad. I expect if you press Space or your the mouse to exit yourll get the same thing? I think the DVD Player wont reinitialize for some reason. If it encounters an error thats exactly what it does.
  22. Reality TV, GameEx was not designed to brainwash the public, and cause mental numbness. Im not even going to look into this issue Tell your misses I'm sorry! I suspect its because of some kind of DirectX Conflict though maybe, if other web apps are working.
  23. No, it should not matter. I use the files from EMUMovies for Daphne, which are AVI files. Are you using the latest GameEx version, there were issue with movies a while back?
  24. It works fine for me. Which DVD Decoder are you using? Are you using FFDSHOW, which version?
