  1. I cant think of any reason why a custom theme would affect it. If your image directories are correctly recognised (will tell you in the log), and you have the image in the dir for the rom, it should display cabinet, marquee, flyer, panel on the lines below 'Play This Game'. Ive never seen a report or had a verified report of the feature not working until now?
  2. Can you try using the latest version 3.47. If that does not work, just use the default theme and not the video one. I think it may be the newly implemented background video feature. Although it would be useful to me to know if I fixed this in version 3.47. There is a link to 3.47 on the forum. It IS NOT a BETA version. Please let us know your results.
  3. Hi Dave, it sounds like your missing out some good gameex action, and have 'Show Game Info' turned off. Its under MAME update settings. Although find that a little hard to believe When selecting a game, GameEx then displays an additional page, where you add to favorites, selecte recommended games etc, and this is where the marquee etc are displayed.
  4. You can do this I think. You need to find out the resolution MK runs add then add it to the always stretch setting. See if that helps. David, There is help available on the settings. Should I re-write it?
  5. Dear group, Since feedback has been so important to the success of GameEx I thought I'd put the following to the group. Over the last several months I have been working hard and paying for some additional features to GameEx. These are not related to Emulation or MAME at all, but are aimed more at the HTPC/Build your own Console/Media box community. Although Cab users might like it too. I want to get some payback on these features, but in the spirit of the MAME community and the hard work of the talented people that contribute to MAME and of course other emulators, I want to keep the emulation side of GameEx free. In other words if you want the complete ultimate solution with features I am not entirely disclosing just yet, although Media/HTPC based I will be charging a small fee. Everything in the current version (and previous versions) will stay free with the exception of videos. In addition, I will still be working on the existing features, taking requests, fixing and putting up regular updates. Now I have a few questions for you all. Call it Market research if you now see me as a tycoon (which I am not!), but I believe an application is never finished, and I design apps based on what other people think as well as what I think. The questions are: 1. If you wanted to 'upgrade' to the complete solution, DVD (complete), Pictures (Including Slide Shows, and operatable from a cab or tv (like everything else)), Radio (Internet most formats), Video (enhanced and all file formats) and features I cant disclose yet. a. Would you be prepared to pay for this. b. how much. 2. The other option is to make all the features free, but have nag screens, adverts for the 'premium' version all the time. Of course the nags would be ArcadeCab and TV friendly, but slowing startup/exit down and with a constant 'upgrade' list item on the start page, until you either stole from me and cracked the software, or b paid a few buck for it. a. Would you prefer all features free with nagging unless you paid a few bucks. b. or two versions, Emulation/MAME/Jukebox (free), or full solution. 3. If you chose 2A How much would you be prepared to pay? Thanks, for your time. Lets decide the future together
  6. Thanks for writing them up. Could you explain what you mean by 6 please? 1 & 2 (Skinning) is still not a high priority for me, but is on my list.
  7. Hi David, Perhaps I got this wrong. Are you using all image packs, SNAP, Cab, Flyer, Marquee and panels? Are they for all/most games? And you say your experiencing no slow down on the 800MHZ, even when selecting a MAME game (displaying Game Info)? If the answer to all 3 is yes, I trust you as a senior GameEx user and will put the feature back straight away Let me know. Tom
  8. I am at a loss at the moment I am afraid. It could well be hard drive space. It would not be a bad idea to free some up. It may also be RAM. How much do you have? Have you tried optimising your system for games usage? Disabling certain services, and startup items etc? Tom
  9. Hi, there are two settings that disable the mouse, one is 'Arcade Mode' on and the other is much more obvious which is just enable/disable mouse. If your are running at a resolution below 640 x 480 arcade mode is automatically turned on and the mouse will be disabled.
  10. Check out the latest version. Tom.

    DVD Playback

    Its coming soon.
  12. GameEx 3.47 - Ignore the premium settings there not available yet. - Ability to enable/disable sound effects in GameEx and not have GameEx initialise DirectSound. - Should fix bug where favorites list overwrites other lists. - When ALT-Tabbing or pressing windows key when GameEx is fullscreen - the desktop and taskbar will now be displayed (No more black screen). - New setting - to always include (do not filter) specific roms when updating the list. - Window Control button (Top Right) is now shown correctly when a jukebox track is not playing. - New command line option '-listupdate' which will update the MAME list then exit. IMPORTANT: For the short term ALL mame pictures/images, must be as files. ZIPS are no longer supported at the moment, until I get a chance to make the zip handling faster. Your'll thank me for it, if your using all the MAME extras Download is here (Main web site wont be updated for about 9 days): http://tomspeirs.com/gameex/download/gameexsetup347.exe
  13. Check your audio and graphics drivers. Go get the latest specific for your hardware. Dont rely on Microsoft for the best drivers. I just upgraded my sound driver that it recommended I do on Windows Update, and it made GameEx run really choppy etc. Once youve done this please confirm you still have issues.
  14. Hi, The idea is you dont ALT-Tab when attract mode starts. Wait for the game to launch and run, then press a key. Focus should then return to GameEx, and all is good Maybe your being a little impatient, or your MAME config is not set to run full screen, so the game is not showing.

  16. Couple more things I noticed. Turning off Triple Buffering fixes audio issues in some MAME games. No idea way. I guess resources again or a long standing MAME bug. Also, I dont want to repeat myself The proper way to test if it is a GameEx issue or not is to select the run last game shortcut from the start menu. This will ensure you run MAME with the SAME cmd settings as GameEx so is impotant. Thanks, Tom.
  17. In the next release ALT-Tabbing or accidently hitting the windows key, wil close hideos and return to the desktop. This will make it seem a little user friendly. Yes it is launching attract mode when it goes black. Games sometimes take a while to load up, so thats why. To turn off attract mode just set the wait time to 0. Thanks, Tom
  18. Yes, it keeps existing settings, and actually runs a little upgrade program. Unless I screw up royally you wont need to redo anything
  19. There is another way to do this, and that is create a batch file to launch gameex and then on exit launch Sage. Something like this. Create c:\runit.bat ----------------------- C: CD "\Program files\GameEx" GameEx.exe C: CD "\Program files\Sage" sage.exe ---------------------- Tell sage to launch this batch file instead of GameEx.exe You might need to play around a little.
  20. See if the next version I upload (few days), fixes this please. Thanks, Tom
  21. Very Strange, I have all GameEx features working on several SP2 machines. You could try upgrading to the latest version of Windows Media Player??

    Error

I still think it is not a gameex issue, from what you have said. Could it be your IDE cable, or possibly a virus or something?
  23. Hi Turning off the Jukebox will turn off Windows Media player, and use the Playlist path you set. When the Jukebox is on, it overrides the playlist setting. Thanks, Tom
  24. Hi, Many thanks for the praise. It's always great to such nice feedback. I have just implemented a new feature, that will allow certain ROMS to always be included in the list. Sort of like an always include ROM. This will be available soon, so just hold out for a while. I am on vacation at the moment, so it might be a few days before its available. Thanks, Tom
