  1. Ranzo -is it OK for us to mark this issue as [RESOLVED] ?
  2. You can also open the gameex.ini file in notepad and save as a txt file.
  3. Actually it means "Pause GameEx Playlist audio and run MAME with no sound;3" neat little tool in the Config folder of GameEx called config.csv - had actually forgotten it is a trove of settings references without having to go into Advanced Configuration or Setup Wizard to look!
  4. OK, found it - D'UH! I picked a bad day to quit smoking PCP.
  5. Will check again tonight, but did not see anything that directly relates to turning sound on or off for the attract/screensaver feature other than exit sound.
  6. Tom - The only sound feature I could find under the Attract/Screensaver section pertains to Play Exit Sound when exiting screensaver. I went through Advanced Config and could not find an option that allow you to turn on or mute sound in thsi feature. IN the stand-alone MAME Screensaver, you do have that option.to select "Sound in Games."
  7. ehounder is correct. You can disable many of the display options through the Advanced Configuration in the Advanced Mame section.
  8. Although Win 7 is not as much of an issue as with Vista. You can often look at the properties of the program and select to allow for it to run as an administrator to bypass most of the UAC issues.
  9. The new versions (less than a year) will install to c:\gameex instead of c:\program files\gameex to avoid most UAC issues and should require minimal tweaking of the gameex.ini file, if any.

    Audio reversed

Troy - I have not encountered this issue myself so cannot answer. Can you provide a copy of your log and gameex.ini files?
  11. GeorgeT: Not a problem - glad you got it resolved! Adultery: I will have to try that trick - thanks!
  12. Find below my log file - I have been using GameLauncher as previously noted to launch games from GameEx and have had no problems until now. The only problem is that I am not encountering the error consistantly on this or other apps. After updating toi 11.52 lastnight, I had one instance which caused the attract screensaver to hang (I had to go into Task Manager to close it out and restart GameEx).
  13. When most people were using XP 32-bit I don't think it was that much of a problem. With more and more migrating to Win 7 (or even relegating their previous Vista machines to function as cabs or HTPCs) running 64-bit versions it will become more apparent.
  14. It depends on how the games are obtained. Some (such as Angry Birds) are Flash ports and require a loader. I know that someone had a similar issue with some of the Steam games because o f the loader causing GameEx to lose focus after finishing the game. I recently posted in another thread regarding a program called GameLauncher (found here) that I have been able to run as an external application so that I do not have a large menu of games loaded as an emulator. It seems to perform very well for me, taking up very little memory and going back to GameEx after the game is over. I am not sure if it will help you with your immediate issue, GT, but worth a try. Might help to consolidate some of your games and, along with Adultery's suggestion might work pretty nice. A .lnk file is simply the Windows shortcut for the program it represents. It contains the executible's path, compatibility mode settings (if applicable), Icon assigned etc.
  15. Not sure if you can answer this or not, but many newer PC games have their own loader files that initiate when the games launch and will cause the PC to lose focus from GameEx to that loader. I believe that Bejeweled also has a preloader involved.
  16. Does GameEx install the 32-bit version? I wonder if this might need to be fixed to allow for selection of 32-bit vs 64-bit when opting to install the eBook Reader?
  17. I noticed that the excluded ROMs list still does not show up in the advanced config under Advanced MAME settings. Also, many games that I had excluded (hit Delete + Enter in GameEx) previously are now showing up in my list again.
  18. Let's try not selecting "Treat as one PC Game" for any of the PC or other games. That option is if you have an emulator with multiple games in a list and you are wanting to isolate one game from the list. IF you are launching standalone PC games you need not use that option.
  19. You are correct. It applies it to the excluded ROMs filter.
  20. Thanks, Tom! Also updating now. Updating the game list is taking longer like it used to, had noticed before it zipped through in 30 seconds or less Mesk: Index Finger + Delete Key = Mahjong Filter
  21. Did your sub short out the coin door again or is it worse?
  22. Even more information can be found here with some exerpts (with permission) from Ralph H. Baer's book "Videogames: In The Beginning." The picture of the Odyssee from E2M shows what appears to be Mr. Baer's autograph. What a nice momento to have!
  23. Would it be possible to add an option in the ROMs excluson to use the GameEx excluded ROMs list (from the GameEx.ini) and selection option to use from GameEx Favorites?
  24. Yves - try Ranzo's suggestion and let us know if that works for you or not.
