  1. Yes. Look under \gameex\media\ for stats.png
  2. Good luck with that one! So far as I know it can be resized, however, since it is a relatively minor element, most of us have not played with the dimensions - trial and error! You can have a bar with no surrounding area but I would recommend that you have the pleasewait.png file saved as a transparency so that there is a file there, although it will not be visible. Remove it and likely GameEx will pull from the Default-Default theme. The bar (so far as I am aware) is not resizable and has always been split into 25 parts. I have used a blank bar in some themes with objects appearing to bounce, etc. Trial and error (or should I say explore and delight yourself and your creativity?). That would be a good question for Tom and/or Ben. What icons are you referring? Can you provide an example/file name? These logo files are hard-coded within GameEx and draw from the MAWS and GameEx dbs online. This is an easy one to answer - no, not formally. The forums are the only source of documentation other than the FAQs.
  3. I have noticed some issues with updating previous posts as well which makes it a royal pain to get updates submitted. Maybe Tom or one of the admins that have access to the forum software can take a look at it and see if there is anything that can be done.
  4. Merge with Blockbuster?
  5. Or would you prefer something a little more icy?

Other than the inter-store politics and our lame-o district manager, it was alright for part-time work. I loved some of the smarmy techie-types that told me I would NEVER get Windows 95 to work on a 386 DX with 4 MB RAM. I had batch files running batch files tweaking memory on a per-game basis to prove them wrong.

I remember sellling them during my brief stint at Software Etc. (Bought out by Babbage's). They hardly moved. It probably didn't help that I pushed for the Nintendo and Sega consoles heavier (more titles, better support and program quality, etc.).
  8. Snowy, snowy night... Actually not so much here in Florida, just tinkering with multiple layered effects, gaussian blurs, inner bevels, etc.
  9. I believe anything build 0.143u3 or higher. I would recommend compiling to the latest u build.
  10. Often you can fix the problem yourself by "forcing" a new DNS cache to be built on your local machines. The following setps are ones I have to use often through my work and at home - give them a try: In IE (or Firefox) - clear your temporary Internet files IE: - Click on Tools>Internet Options - Click Delete Files button in the middle of General tab under Browser History (IE 7 or higher - under Browsing History the Delete button), - Click Delete Temporary Internet Files then OK (IE 7 or higher - Check Temporary Internet Files and click Delete button at bottom) - Once finished, click OK to close Internet Options, then close all open IE sessions Firefox: - Click Options>Advanced>Network Tab - Click Clear Now button under Offline Storage - Once finished, click OK to close Options, close all open Firefox sessions Next - open a Command Prompt (under Start>Run in XP or earlier, otherwise, in Vista or Win 7, hit Windows Key+R on your keyboard if you have the default Admin Account or type CMD in the Search Programs or Files line, right-click on the CMD.exe icon and click Run with Administrator Rights) - On the Command Line, type ipconfig /flushdns - Hit Enter (should get response Successfully flushed the DNS resolver cache) Let me know if this resolved on your PC. If so, try these steps on each one impacted.
  11. @Flashlight - Agreed. I would love to build a WHS box some time. I participated in the initial beta testing which was kinda rocky for a while but it has a lot of capabilities. Unfortunately, there wasn't much in the way of offerings for boxes ready-to-go - just add drives and they were pretty pricey. I am currently running a W2K3 Standard Edition rig. While I don't have the backups set I am able to store more in my configuration as the drives are not setup in any RAID configuration to appear as one contiguous drive. Less simple than WHS, but also gives me a chance to work with the software still supported by many small to moderate businesses. @Adultery - I think that you most probably could do so - at least with your ROMS and associated media. The choke point would be your internal bandwidth. You would definitely want to explore Gigabit routers and NICs on all devices. You would then be limited only by the robustness of your server (the more RAM and CPU cycles, the better) to stream your content. Any executibles (emulators and the like) would be best installed on each PC in your network. If you have enough storage on the server, you could set each machine attached for regular backups, keep copies of system default images, etc.
  12. Anytime! I am a veritable font of useless info!
  13. Always worth a go. I am not sure if changing font size will matter either. I would consider this in the bug category.
  14. Not with WHS. It is derived from Windows 2003 (which is actually XP at its core). It isn't really designed for running as a stand-alone OS. It is more file server/NAS and is designed to be headless and this is why there is no need for DirectX support.
  15. To be honest, GameEx is not designed to run on Windows Home Server 2003 (which is further removed from XP than Server 2003 is). If this is what you are runnijng, I think we might need to stop right here until you have a dedicated Windows OS to knock about. I know there may be some temptation to be able to run your games and emus from every room, but this just isn't going to work if that is the case.
  16. Alrighty - first off, thanks for providing the pics - I didn't really need them.. just joking! They help a lot acutally. I can see what you are saying as you want the oblong to be centered on what would be the center of the text. What I am going to sugget may require some experimentation as I don't know if this is something that can be fixed easily by Tom. I would try is this.. adding additional space beneath your selector graphic. If I were working within GIMP or Photoshop, I would start a new image as a transparency (probably about 10-20 pixels taller than your selector image) and then paste yours as a separate layer on top. I would then "guestimate" where to center it vertically over that transparency layer, then save it and test. You may be able to adjust it to where it finally centers around the text.
  17. If you can change it to something close to the 1280x720 you may find that you do not need to edit the theme for the weather location to correct for your display!
  18. Since you can support 1280x was wondering if you had a setting for 1280x720 (or maybe the next one down from that) to test. UI understand about making do with hand-me-downs!
  19. Definitely appears to be video driver related. Make sure you have the latest for your video card. If you have the latest and still an issue, try reverting to an older driver. Would help to know what video card you are using.
  20. Thanks, Tom! The Y coordinate issue on the Menu Bar seems to be resolved... any chance you might be working on the X coordrinate issue for the next update?
  21. What resolutions are compatible with your monitor? I think if you could run it at, say 1280x720, that would get you a 16:9 resolution and closer to the 16:10 that the original was made - hence much less distortion and shifting of elements.
  22. Can't say that I have had any issues with mine, either. Would probably have to ask to see the selector image being used, get dimensions, etc. to try to figure out why it isn't centering on the text.
  23. For issue 1 - the answer is yes. If I am running a 1920x1200 theme on a 1650x1080 resolution screen, then no issue as it will scale properly as they fall within the same aspect ratio of 16:10 whereas the resolution you are running at does not fit into the usual 4:3 ratio found on most older CRTs.
  24. I am using it now while working on my themes. I have only ever used my own themes (not that some that are stock or user submitted themes aren't good, but I needed a motivator to learn how to make my own). So who was the lamer that only rated this 2 topic stars? If I was allowed to rate it it would be 5 stars all the way!
  25. Work on the Arcade games that have not worked in the past, don't add a bunch of mechanical or other stuff that is borderline arcade related IMHO. We already have MESS vying to be the "one ring that rules them all" for the consoles and handhelds. Do we really need MAME heading in the same direction?
