  1. Web based as in you have to use it via an internet connection? Or HTML driven locally? I could see some potential for user adoption issues with the first for frequent tinkerers and testers that do not have their rig connected externally.
  2. I understand and hope all gets better soon!
  3. Benefits of updating - well, since we are up to version 18.60 (vs. your 5.31) there is the matter of support because any programatic fixes that may come about would require it. Given that your rig is on XP, the newer versions are not going to be compatible. If everything is working well still and you are happy with it, then don't upgrade. There are a number of users over the years that have gotten things set "just right" and disconnected their machines from the internet. There are many of them that have had to come back because something breaks requiring them to upgrade because their kit is running an on an out of support OS, drivers, GPU, etc. for the new parts. Typically it is a hard drive or an arcade monitor or mainboard components that have to be replaced. There are - so long as Tom supports the software - always newer features and capabilities and even derivitive versions of GameEx. Wish I could say more. Back up what you can and plan for a future upgrade.
  4. If you can launch Task Manager you will need to see what apps are starting up or look in the Startup folder - really hard to guide you here since I have no idea what Windows version or GameEx version is at hand. Can you locate the the gameex.ini and log.txt files and attach them in reply to this thread?
  5. That old will likely need to be updated on many levels as you are probably aware.
  6. Did you purchase this machine pre-configured from a 3rd party? If possible, please locate your gameex.ini and log.txt files for review. Likely Instant Sheller is installed and running at startup. Try hitting U on your keyboard when booting the machine.
  7. I might have this sorted out. Mind you I do not have the music files or controllers setup but I was able to finally get this to launch with the following settings - your paths will likely be different so modify accordingly: Give that a try in an emulator slot. There may be some additional tweaks to be made but this should get you started. Let us know how you get on with this. Thanks!
  8. The emulator setup should handle that, The command line link is only applicable to Chart Previews via command line so may not be of help, There are other "command line" options when launchintg from a shortcut regarding video rendering, but still, after quite a bit of digging, not finding anything useful. The app itself is written in Unity but not sure that is helpful info to getting this to launch. Will try to find something. One question I failed to ask - have you confirmed that you can launch and play the game directly outside of GameEx?
  9. Since there are some command line options available to preview and launch songs via "bots" it may be possible to leverage an Emulator slot to launch the songs. Read more about command line options mentioned here: https://wiki.clonehero.net/books/clone-hero-manual/page/chart-previews-via-the-command-line
  10. Hi would you mind attaching copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt files (no copy and paste please) for review? There may be some alternative ways to launch this for you to try but I would prefer to see what you have setup presently.
  11. Glad you got it sorted and are seeing what you want! Thanks for letting us know!

  13. Thanks for testing the ESC.
  14. Star Wars Dark Forces Remastered available on Steam and Gog.com for $29.99.
  15. How are you exiting GameEx when you get the blackscreen over it? Unless you have modified the default, you should be able to hit ESC to go back to the desktop, which should then restore it. I'm assuming you have tried this to no avail but asking anyways in attempting to wrap my head around the issue you are encountering.
  16. Hi there. Not sure of I understand entirely what you are describing. Can you do me a favor and attach copies of your gameex.ini, log.txt, and bezel files for review? I am thinking that there is an issue with rendering transparent the space in between the bezel graphic.
  17. Would really benefit from you attaching copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt files from both systems to compare as we can only guess and I really suck at guessing.
  18. ENHANCEMENT REQUEST: Add additional entries to Theme.ini file to allow for: - Change size of Title Text - Change color of Title Text using HTML code or verbose color entries - Change color of Menu Text
  19. The title is hard coded to display. Please submit as an enhancement request here:
  20. Since this guide is for the Steam version it may be best to report any issues with the Epic Games version in the PinballX > General forum. Will default to Mike_da_Spike's feedback before splitting post to the suggested forum.
  21. IIRC this is one that is not as nice to emulate as others. Not sure if it would work any better through Retroarch with one of the cores for the console.
  22. I found this which may be of help - How To Set Up RetroArch For Neo Geo - How To Retro
  23. Hi @Tom Speirs - 18.60 fixed the issue with the .apng animations. I am using a font with my new theme since I last uploaded it to the FTP called Pirulen Rg. It displays correctly in the menus, but does not render well in the title. Is this something you can address easily with a minor update to the same version? Even something in the Theme.ini that will allow for modifying the font size. GameEx_Start.._All Games_60_60_ 2024-02-25 15-41-08.mp4
