The complete PinballX documentation to setup your Pinball cabinet. All the options/screens are explained how you can modify PinballX to show what you want. Thanks for the previous persons that worked on the document. I received the template @Draco1962and used an old version of the document (Thanks to @zeenonwho created the first version of the documentation) I re-used some texts, but most I completely re-create on a PC that didn't had PinballX on it. It took me around 4 months to get it all together. Version of document is the latest version of PinballX on date of publishing this document. All the features that are described in the document are available in the same version of PinballX Any new features of new releases should be added -

Due to bbd testing of myself (and a bit of @scutters), we didn't see that @Tom Speirschanged the app guid from PinballX Core .net5 to PinballX (Core .net6). This result that you could end up with this error : Thanks to @PinGuywho reported the issue and it is fixed in the latest release

The issue is caused that the application guid changed from the PinballX .net Core version to the final PinballX release. The old PinballxX to Pinballx xp/Vista stillmlooks the same. I need to check all the application guids that Tom uses, and do an update on the program.

I'm very sorry to hear it is not working. And definitely want to help you What version of pinballx did you install ? The vista/xp orthe regular one ? To determ the pinballx version, the program checks the uninstall reg keys and searches if it can find one of the 3 supported programs. Can you export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall regkeys and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and attach them as a zip file? I will try to simulate your issue

If you record it in game manager or database manager via the "bulk videos" videos button, it can create all your missing playfield videos (and backglass) videos.
-
If you are talking about Real table videos's I should recommend to create them yourself. So you have the latest video of your table. (Thats show pretty awesome with @Scutters de-randomizer for loading videos)
-
As Scutters says, test your ftp access. If you go to settings and select GameEX online tab. Fill in your GameEX account and password, then click on check access. Is that working for you ?
-
And you installed pinballx via the setup command ? Did Databasemanager creates a log in the log sub dir ?
-
I'm a bit confused. I don't understand what your issue is now to be honest. You say all your videos are working within PBX, and all is working when launching VPX tables. In your screenshot above, I see your DMD loaded from a PinballX launched table. and what do you mean with ROM DMD and B2S DMD ?
-
Does it download anything ? If you download the wheel, is that working fine ? With other words, are your credentials correct ? In the download section, there is a program called database manager. Thats an external program that is build for PinballX as well That doesn't use the user and password from PinballX, but it uses the FTP and shows preview of your media. For playfield and Backglass, I should advise to create them yourself (can be done in game manager as well, but also in database manager)

After 2 year of releasing the first version, this program is still under development. This update was more than we expected. It started to change Dux Retro googlesheet to his new VPSB.txt format. On this Journey, we switched to the JSON file from Fraesh, but the Dux retro file can still be used) why do we use it ? For getting Original tables and VP theme info added to your XML (Via our IPDB button). But also for new versions, that can show you the location of the download file (if VPU is not changing it daily, as they do the last couple of days...) This is minor for end users, but a big part coding that @scutters and myself keep busy for the last few months. An option that Scutters wanted to have was drag and drop feature to import/change easily the VP and FP tables. This sounds easy, but give us headaches as well. But with a long testplan (and all possible scenarios) we managed to add it to this release. Adding new tables can be done by dragging file(s) from a location (can also be your table folder) to the add table button NOTE : only the table files will be processed. any other file will be ignored See this video : Adding tables.mp4 For updating tables, we implemented 2 ways. Keep the original table name (this is the file name) Replace the original file name with the new name This can be set in the settings This is an example where you replace a file and keep the original file name : Replace with org file.mp4 And this is a video where you use the new file name Replace with new file.mp4 When using tables that are not in the tables directory, a dialog will ask if you want to delete the source file if you don't want this question, go to settings and set your preference (Show dialog 'Delete source file' to No and select the behavior of it 'Copy file' will keep the source file, 'move file' will delete the source file) NOTE : Any deletes that the program does, will be put into your recycle bin. If you replace a file or delete a file in the program by mistake, check your recycle bin ! I hope it all make sense A big thanks to @scuttersfor his patience with me during this part of all the changes (and to add a lot of ideas and code into this version) Thanks to Dux Retro and Fraesh for a great job of moving the googlesheet to a higher level !

But is freezy's dll working with a pin2dmd ? I thought you need lucky's dll for it
-
@Lizard, I'm using a PInDMD3 in my cab and today I enabled "Use VPINMAME in frontend" Loading a table that has a good rom is working for me. I don't have DMDdevice.dll (or the64bit) in my PinballX log and I asume that tom is using pindmd.dll In the past I need to change pindmd.ini for the correct com port, but If your videos are showing on your DMD, I assume that all is setup correctly I never used it in the frontend, as I prefer Video's to display. Here's an example with the latest version of PinballX : 20220212_120200.mp4

Tables will not load from wheel on older PinballX
Mike_da_Spike replied to trc698's topic in General
My guess will be that pinballx cannot find the table you selected and wont launch it. Is the same happening with fx2 ? As you run more than 250 vetsions behind the current version, i would say to upgrade pinballx as wel. You can also try databasemanager to check your systems and your visual pinball and future pinball tables. It will check if your paths are ok and check if the names of the tables file corresponding to the xml -
Which keystroke allows me to exit to the system menu?
Mike_da_Spike replied to MulletLife's topic in General
Dont think there is a keystroke for returning from system menu to system list. -

[RESOLVED] PinballX 5.39 crashes with my PinballX.ini config file
Mike_da_Spike replied to jejegameex's topic in General
So, the only issue is now that your game list manager is crashing ? Anything in the eventlog about it ? How about Database manager, is that crashing as well ? -
[RESOLVED] PinballX 5.39 crashes with my PinballX.ini config file
Mike_da_Spike replied to jejegameex's topic in General
Whats the crash showing to you ? According to the logfile, your system is starting and exiting directly -
[RESOLVED] PinballX Setup Wizard will not open?
Mike_da_Spike replied to Grimstash's topic in General
Is your virus scanner blocking something ? Pretty hard to say. Check your eventlog if you see something strange in the application log. -
I don't use a topper at all, but i known that @scuttersruns w11 with a lot of screens as well (but no topper). Is it for all your tables this behaviour ? What kind of videos ? You able to generate a video of the issue ? Will the video plays again, when you return from the emulator to the front end ?
