Very nice from you and i am interested in this. many people say DEmul is not needed anymore, because the games are in MAME and working. This is true, but performance of these games is very poor under MAME, i.e. Crazy Taxi. Keep the good work up

Hello Folks, I recently tried to connect a Laptop to a TV, via the Intel HD Graphics onboard card of the Laptop. You will need a Adapter like this, for the task: http://arcadeforge.net/UMSA:::15.html It will convert your VGA output to SCART, so you can connect the Laptop to a TV or CRT with SCART. This is no converter which scales the picture or modify it in other ways. You need to have a 15khz Signal on VGA to get it working. I got it working, but with real exotic modelines. modeline '2560x240-15khz-2560x240-15,72kHz-60,0Hz' 48,418 2560 2632 2864 3080 240 246 254 262 -hsync -vsync with a resolution like 2560x240 i get a stretched desktop, but it works if you tell MAME or other Emus to stretch the games. You will earn a perfect picture. It is really a good solution to use the Intel HD Graphics driving a CRT / TV at 15khz . Basically you can use the Intel HD Graphics in a Cab. Normally you can not use the well known solutions like soft15khz or CRT-Emu-Driver (Emu Driver only works with ATI) to get Pixel Perfect Resolutions. With Intel HD Graphics you can only make 5 different custom resolutions. But with these you can get really far . However if I try this resolution with GameEx, it will not start. So I think, it is a problem with these exotic resolutions and wanted to ask here, what the max. possible Resolution is or what could cause the problem??? If anyone is interested in this kind of stuff, feel free to ask. Thx in advance, u-man

Hi Folks , I still have a problem with the Listnum field. It gets clipped (truncated), if i put it on the right side of the list field. The left side of the listfield however works. As i have seen other themes with no problems, i am asking what could cause my problem? At this point i want to say, that i am sure, that there is NO object in the foreground, that could cover the Listnum field. the listnum field gets clipped, right at the moment where it touches the right border of the List field. if its completely over the right border, it disappears completely . Even if I try to make a completely new theme, the error is still there. Is there really no solution to this? My second problem is the Description field. The height needs to be 160 pixel, regardless how big the width is (in my case 802 pixels, which is the whole screen ) to show the FULL description of a game. If the height is less than 150 pixels, than the description is truncated, right after the first 2-3 words. It looks like this: Donkey Kong is a....... Even if there is enough place, because of the width, to place much more text (maybe even the whole?), it gets shortened . Is there a workaround for this? The stars should have a fixed size, but they change size and more critical the position depending on the length of the text displayed. It would be nice to have the option to turn them off and to spend the place needed for the stars for the text. Other option could be, to place the text right after the stars . Do a user have a influence on this stars anyway ? For my taste, there are some games under-rated. How would i gave them a better rating? Hoping for answers... u-man

I throw me in again.... I understand you Draco but I think you misunderstood me. I was writing my post at work, so i didnt have much time. What can I say? What I was describing in my previous post, was my experience with GameEx in other german Forums. And like i said, most of the time there are two groups.... MALA or Hyperspin. MALA for the simpleness (some of the guys did development for MALA ) and Hyperspin for cewl FX and overall Look + Style. Draco, yes its true, maybe there are more than 40 4:3 Themes, but Quantity is not Quality and sorry to say that, but most of them dont look good on a 15khz cab. You cant do 800x600 themes and think, because of the same aspect ratio, it will look nice on a tube . This is a main problem, for all these 800x600 themes, i bet they where not testet on a real cab. It was a painfull and very time consuming experience for me, to see a good result with my own theme. Best Themes are the default ones with 320x240, they look ok on a tube. Very often in the process of creating my theme, i was struggled in creativity by the limits of the theme-creator, but i cant wait to see the new one . Off course you can make real awesome themes with GameEx, but you cant beat the stuff from Hyperspin, with the given tools GameEx comes with. Sadly the FX-blinky-blinky eyecatching people dont catch other important stuff, like "what can i do with my frontend?", "how easy can stuff be done" etc. etc. But thats what i mostly like on GameEx, easy and flexible. Most people also dont understand, that for a good Hyperspin, you will need a big rig pc to handle that jumbo-jambo. GameEx works nice on low-end machines . Fact is, if i would not like GameEx, i would not spend time here in the forums .
-
i think it is a tasty thing. on all german forums i explore, there are two fractions. the ones that use Hyperspin with all the nonsense and the one that use either original mame or MALA. thats it, no one talks about GameEx and that has possibly to do with themes, especially themes for Cab-Setups. There are not much 4:3 themes here, especially awesome ones . I like GameEx very much, it is full of rich features and has a awesome community and the best is regularly updated.... see Maximus Arcade, good Frontend, but no updates, no community.

yes... plus you want to play MAME on a LCD. Why would you need AdvanceMAME for this task ??? To play out the main advantage of AdvanceMAME you would need a CRT Setup . I use MAMEUIFX too, it is the best choice (for beginners and LCD), far better then MAME-Plus. It loads much faster, has everything what MAME-Plus has and even more. Better we look into your problems with the effects. If you have setup your MAMEUIFX and everything works well inside MAMEUIFX, then you only need to put "-readconfig" (without quotes) into your command line for MAME inside your Setupwizard of GameEx. To enable the effects, you need to open the default game options, inside of MAMEUIFX. You need to enable Direct 3D to work with effects. Then go to the Advanced Section and select your effect (i.e. Scanlines).... Thats it.

Definetly different, if you are a supporting-member . i will do it in the future. Didnt look into Perfect Match, but i know it. In the past, i was afraid i could messup my MAME set with this, but i will look into it for the evergrowing emu-collection .

yes, you are right nullPointer, but the Download Service Utility has no Videos. So if you downloaded Videos from Emu-Movies.com, you will need to rename them. I guess they are Hypershit-formatted . For Playstation-Games it was not too hard for me, as i didnt have so many (obvious reason the size of the images ), but the SNES, NES Collection, was a pain in the ass. This would be also a nice PlugIn for GameEx . A nice Renaming tool... throw a .dat file in, point to a folder with the vids and go for it . Dont know the naming convention either.... they come from a paradise place. but like i said, i didnt have so many PS-games, so renaming a few hundred, was not the problem.

it is maybe a "place" problem. how did you setup the 7800 emulator? Do you use the same Emulator for 2600 and 7800? if so, try to make a seperate setup for the 7800, as you can choose what logo is showing for each emulator you setup, in the setup-wizard of GameEx. you can find a logo.png of the 7800 in the following default themes: GameEx\THEMES\Default - Default\MEDIA\LOGOS\7800.png GameEx\THEMES\Default - Media Center V1\MEDIA\LOGOS\7800.png so your video should be named 7800.avi

this is a 7zip file, mainly used for better (maybe best) compression. it will maybe work with GameEx, if you have a registered version, as GameEx supports 7zip files then. best way to go, would be to unpack your 7zip file. i guess it will contain either a .bin, .cue or a iso-image, which all can be mounted by daemon-tools . to get it work with emu-movies, you need to rename that image to your emu-movie artwork or vice versa.

Awesome Job, Tom. I can confirm, that it works with actual MAME-0150 and 0151 versions. NeoGeo List shows up again . Problems solved. thanks also to Adultery, keeping in touch with Xpadder, is a thumbsup worth.

[RESOLVED] GameEx not listing Mame roms past CarnEvil since last update.
u-man replied to UNFORGIVEN II's topic in General
Its really strange... like i said, i didnt have any problems with the files, except the NeoGeo empty list stuff. Right at the moment, I have a complete Rom-Set on my Laptop but without CHDs. So maybe, if I would be back on my Cab (which has CHDs like Carnevil), i could have similar problems like user Unforgiven have. But right now, everything is fine on my Laptop, except empty NeoGeo list. I can create a list for the NeoGeo stuff, so that this is working again. So i guess i was right with the SNK stuff, for finding all NeoGeo games? -

I used these attached files and had NO Carnevil problem. This time I can confirm that they are for Version 0150 of MAME . MAME_0150_DATS_INIS.zip Just for my understanding.... all NeoGeo games can be found under Manufactorer SNK or will i miss some NeoGeo games then? -

Hello Guys, Yesterday I just tried MAME 0150 for myself. I can say, that I did NOT have the history.dat error. The only Error I did have, was the NEO GEO Error, I can agree with this. The NeoGeo List is empty. But this Error comes either from the catver.ini stuff or some other filtering in GameEx. It must be some bug, that happened between 0149 and 0150 of MAME. -
Thank you, Krakerman... this is a nice add-on for me . good job.

Dont know what to say, but I have the latest MAME 0.150, history.dat and everything else. No problems at all. My Neo Geo Section says 151 Roms are there. There must be a faulty History.dat you use or some other faulty stuff, that is used, when GameEx is generating the list. All games here, even the XCOTA. Get all the files from here: http://www.gameex.com/Download/Supportfiles.aspx Like i said, no problems here at all. Good Luck -
glad to see that you have solved the problem. i didnt get it . so how is the correct command line, if i will apply the same to my PS1 games? thx, u-man

Hi flightsim, generally you have two options to force a 640x480 resolution with an nVidia graphics card. Either you will need "Soft15Khz" and hope that your Nvidia is accepted or you will need "Powerstrip" which is not Freeware, but for testing, you can download a Trial-Version. It MAY happen, that you will still need "Powerstrip", even if "Soft15Khz" is working, as there are sometimes problems with Interlaced Resolutions. You need to be aware, that you need a Interlaced 640x480 Resolution, which is different from the "normal" progressive 640x480 Resolution. This is where "Powerstrip" comes in, as you can setup such a Resolution for sure. I can confirm, that this works, as it is my setup in my MAME-Cab with a Nvidia Card.
