[RESOLVED] GameEx not listing Mame roms past CarnEvil since last update.
u-man replied to UNFORGIVEN II's topic in General
Hello Guys, Yesterday I just tried MAME 0150 for myself. I can say, that I did NOT have the history.dat error. The only Error I did have, was the NEO GEO Error, I can agree with this. The NeoGeo List is empty. But this Error comes either from the catver.ini stuff or some other filtering in GameEx. It must be some bug, that happened between 0149 and 0150 of MAME. -
Thank you, Krakerman... this is a nice add-on for me . good job.

[RESOLVED] GameEx not listing Mame roms past CarnEvil since last update.
u-man replied to UNFORGIVEN II's topic in General
Dont know what to say, but I have the latest MAME 0.150, history.dat and everything else. No problems at all. My Neo Geo Section says 151 Roms are there. There must be a faulty History.dat you use or some other faulty stuff, that is used, when GameEx is generating the list. All games here, even the XCOTA. Get all the files from here: http://www.gameex.com/Download/Supportfiles.aspx Like i said, no problems here at all. Good Luck -
glad to see that you have solved the problem. i didnt get it . so how is the correct command line, if i will apply the same to my PS1 games? thx, u-man

Hi flightsim, generally you have two options to force a 640x480 resolution with an nVidia graphics card. Either you will need "Soft15Khz" and hope that your Nvidia is accepted or you will need "Powerstrip" which is not Freeware, but for testing, you can download a Trial-Version. It MAY happen, that you will still need "Powerstrip", even if "Soft15Khz" is working, as there are sometimes problems with Interlaced Resolutions. You need to be aware, that you need a Interlaced 640x480 Resolution, which is different from the "normal" progressive 640x480 Resolution. This is where "Powerstrip" comes in, as you can setup such a Resolution for sure. I can confirm, that this works, as it is my setup in my MAME-Cab with a Nvidia Card. Hello again, when i am done with work and home again, i can give you the right instructions to start and to leave ParaJVE from GameEx, i know that it need some special treatment, because it is a JAVA app. GameEx just see that you escaped ParaJVE but there is still something running in background (JAVA?) and then it is in a loop state with a unresponsive desktop. or look here at post 27: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/9513-resolved-parajve/page-2?hl=parajve as you see, there is a Process called Javaw. this is causing your troubles. there is no way to tell ParaJVE to run in a particular resolution, so you have to check that you are running a suitable resolution (i.e. 320x240) prior start of ParaJVE, if you want to use your CRT without flickering. Maybe some guys here know a good solution of how to change the desktop-resolution via a commandline or something else, prior of starting ParaJVE .

Hi Repetto74, if you are really a fan of Vectrex, i would not go the MESS route. Try PARAJVE, best Vectrex Emu on Earth. Far better than anything else. It nearly looks and feels like a real Vectrex and that is a big task. I wish the MAME Vector games would look like this. The shaders of ParaJVE are great, even better than AAE. Try it, you will like it for sure... just my 50cents . http://vectrex-emu.blogspot.de/

yes, like it a lot. thx for the setup-wizard thingy, fits perfect for me.

Hello and welcome to the GameEx-Forums you can do this with the theme-editor and you can change the windowsize with the "List"-field. There is one other thing, you need to know, it is the change-view option. cause there are two different thumbnail versions. one is large and one is small thumbnails. change it to small thumbnails (maybe you need to press the change-view a little often, to get to the final result) and then change the size of the "List" field to your like, in the theme-editor. hope it helps

Headkaze is right, i had the same problems with the HTPC / Multimedia settings a while back. Installing MPEG2 DVD codecs solved it.

i tried it today... no problems at all. but i dont have a xbox 360 controller . i have this one: http://www.speedlink.com/?p=2&cat=4131&pid=26941&paus=1&act_lang=en i can change between analog and d-pad. i must do this prior starting vice. in vice i select my joypad and thats all. dont even need x-padder .

Yes , that looks interesting and it could help, thx Tempest. To be honest, i want that list, because if I look on my MAMEUIFX which i use often to take a quick look (nothing is faster and better) on games, those games would be hidden. Sadly MAMEUIFX has not that filter option like GameEx. so if you decide to have a clean list by using filters like "hide clones", which is casual and normal, those games are gone. i want to help the author of MAMEUIFX by giving him a list of better Clones, so that the list is not cluttered with stuff you usually dont want to see . its the same problem like my initially post here, but in a opposite way. For GameEx i have a solution now and yet i want some for MAMEUIFX . I am halfway through (the horizontal games) , but it is a pain in the ass to go completely through, like Adultery mentioned allready. So any help here is very nice.

i wouldnt know how to do this with the tools i have . if i just have a list of the clones that are better than the origins, i would be fine .

hello again, as promised, i did a "Preliminary.ini". The following is true for MAME 0.149u1 and if you have a complete ROM set for it. 1.) Copy this into your "dont filter these roms" of the setup-wizard in the MAME section: ;280zzzap;;alibaba;;ace;;attackfc;;banbam;;batmanfr;;bballoon;;bbprot;;beaminv;;birdtry;;bishjan;;bnstars1;;bowl3d;;boxer;;brdrline;;bullsdrt;;cannonbp;;cannonb2;;carpolo;;catacomb;;catchp;;catnmous;;claybust;;clayshoo;;couple;;crazyfgt;;cyclemb;;dacholer;;dai3wksi;;dealer;;demndrgn;;destroyr;;digger;;dorachan;;dribling;;dwarfd;;eggor;;embargo;;fcombat;;fghthist;;fgoal;;fireone;;fireshrk;;fitfight;;flyball;;fmaniac3;;galxwars;;ghox;;glfgreat;;goindol;;gunchamp;;hachamf;;hapytour;;headoni;;heiankyo;;histryma;;hrdtimes;;igmo;;invrvnge;;jongkyo;;josvolly;;kdynastg;;kickgoal;;kngtmare;;koikoi;;kong;;kov;;kovplus;;lagunar;;laserbat;;lastbank;;lastfght;;ltcasino;;luckgrln;;luctoday;;magodds;;marinedt;;mastkin;;mgolf;;mightguy;;minferno;;moguchan;;mpoker;;msisaac;;murogem;;ncv2;;ninjemak;;nsub;;olibochu;;onna34ro;;othello;;panther;;pipeline;;portrait;;ppcar;;primrage;;ptrmj;;quartet;;quiz365;;quizmstr;;quizrd12;;quizrd17;;quizrd18;;quizrd22;;quizrd23;;quizrd34;;redclash;;roadriot;;rockduck;;rtriv;;rumba;;safari;;salmndr2;;samurai;;sbasebal;;sexyboom;;sflush;;shpeng;;skychut;;skydest;;spacbeam;;spaceg;;spaceint;;spacetrk;;spcfrcii;;spclaser;;spclforc;;speedfrk;;spfghmk2;;spotty;;ssfindo;;sshot;;ssingles;;sspacaho;;sspaceat;;sspeedr;;ssrj;;sstingry;;sstrangr;;stactics;;streetg2;;strvmstr;;suchipi;;superbon;;superwng;;targeth;;tceptor;;tekipaki;;timefgtr;;tjsb;;tmek;;tomcatsw;;touryuu;;tranqgun;;tturf;;twcup98;;vimana;;warpsped;;wbeachvl;;wink;;winspike;;xfiles;;zerohour; 2.) In the MAME settings section of the GameEx Setup Wizard is the option "Custom Lists Path", put my "Preliminary.ini" there. If you dont have a folder there, create one, put the .ini in and point the Setup Wizard to there. 3.) Do a update list afterwards. you will have a new section in the MAME section, called Preliminary. there you will find 161 new games . If you dont like the name "Preliminary", change the name of the .ini to whatever you like, but keep the .ini ending. have fun, u-man PS: Still want to know, how the "dont use clones, unless better" works or a list of them, that would be nice . Preliminary.ini

off course the actual .... MAME 0149.u1 and i want to keep the list up to date. so if a new version comes out, a new list will be posted. the good thing is, you cant mess up anything with your MAME, the bad thing is to found the new added ones , thats why i wrote, that it would be nice to have a extra category. i think i will make a additional list with the game names, so everyone can check the new added games.

Hi Community, i have completed a list of MAME games that are accidently filtered by GameEx, if you choose to show only working games. GameEx starts then to filter all "status preliminary" Roms, which normally is ok, but you will loose about 160 games, which only have a sound problem or no sound at all, but beside of this, are working normally. there are pretty nice games, Shmups, Bmups, Lightguns etc. so i created a list for the "dont filter these roms" to get those jewels back. these games are not like the imperfect ones, they are marked as "preliminary" from the MAME devs. ... because of the lack of sound or other stuff. a game that really doesnt work, have a "preliminary" status for the emulation. those games dont or will not start with MAME... but "preliminary" status for color, sound and graphics, are games that can be started AND played with MAME. i think that would be a nice start, to contribute for the databases . maybe we could extend the filter options in GameEx by doing so. or put them in a extra category like "Preliminary Games". beside of this, i would like to know, how the "no clones, unless better" thingy works. it would be very nice to have a list of the clone-games that are actually better than the original ones. with all these stuff, you will have around about 3700 MAME games in GameEx, if you have a complete Rom-Set... CHDs excluded. what do you think about this? is this something of help? All the best, u-man just copy this into your "dont filter these roms" of the setup-wizard in the MAME section and do a update list afterwards: ;280zzzap;;alibaba;;ace;;attackfc;;banbam;;batmanfr;;bballoon;;bbprot;;beaminv;;birdtry;;bishjan;;bnstars1;;bowl3d;;boxer;;brdrline;;bullsdrt;;cannonbp;;cannonb2;;carpolo;;catacomb;;catchp;;catnmous;;claybust;;clayshoo;;couple;;crazyfgt;;cyclemb;;dacholer;;dai3wksi;;dealer;;demndrgn;;destroyr;;digger;;dorachan;;dribling;;dwarfd;;eggor;;embargo;;fcombat;;fghthist;;fgoal;;fireone;;fireshrk;;fitfight;;flyball;;fmaniac3;;galxwars;;ghox;;glfgreat;;goindol;;gunchamp;;hachamf;;hapytour;;headoni;;heiankyo;;histryma;;hrdtimes;;igmo;;invrvnge;;jongkyo;;josvolly;;kdynastg;;kickgoal;;kngtmare;;koikoi;;kong;;kov;;kovplus;;lagunar;;laserbat;;lastbank;;lastfght;;ltcasino;;luckgrln;;luctoday;;magodds;;marinedt;;mastkin;;mgolf;;mightguy;;minferno;;moguchan;;mpoker;;msisaac;;murogem;;ncv2;;ninjemak;;nsub;;olibochu;;onna34ro;;othello;;panther;;pipeline;;portrait;;ppcar;;primrage;;ptrmj;;quartet;;quiz365;;quizmstr;;quizrd12;;quizrd17;;quizrd18;;quizrd22;;quizrd23;;quizrd34;;redclash;;roadriot;;rockduck;;rtriv;;rumba;;safari;;salmndr2;;samurai;;sbasebal;;sexyboom;;sflush;;shpeng;;skychut;;skydest;;spacbeam;;spaceg;;spaceint;;spacetrk;;spcfrcii;;spclaser;;spclforc;;speedfrk;;spfghmk2;;spotty;;ssfindo;;sshot;;ssingles;;sspacaho;;sspaceat;;sspeedr;;ssrj;;sstingry;;sstrangr;;stactics;;streetg2;;strvmstr;;suchipi;;superbon;;superwng;;targeth;;tceptor;;tekipaki;;timefgtr;;tjsb;;tmek;;tomcatsw;;touryuu;;tranqgun;;tturf;;twcup98;;vimana;;warpsped;;wbeachvl;;wink;;winspike;;xfiles;;zerohour;

Thanks for the answers and you all was right.... that is really nice. I use headkaze´s WinUAE-Loader... no problems so far. Gamebase Amiga itself is a two-sided sword. it is by far not so complete, like the C64 Gamebase. I missed a lot of Games there, like Persian Gulf Inferno but the other alternatives are way to heavy i.e. TOSEC, i dont want every single crap . I stick with Gamebase Amiga, until something better, but not so huge in terms of Gigabytes comes out. Why you cannot configure your D-Pad for Gamebase C64, is strange for me. Xpadder solved all to me. seriously try out Xpadder and use Xpadder Plugin here: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/11376-plugin-xpadder-plugin/ it cannot be easier .
-
hello Tom , i have no .mdb file of GB64 in GameEx, only a "gamebase_GBC_v10.map". do you mean that, or do you mean the folder and .mdb in the Gamebase itself? does it have any consequences if i rename them? do i need to reconfigure the Gamebase after that? sorry for the many questions thx in advance
-
i see you use 2 grafic-cards, maybe thats a problem. it seems like GameEX / MAME starts on a second screen/ grafics-card, cant find one and does come back again to GameEx, or your direct X has a problem, try to start MAME with -ddraw and see if problem still exists.
-
do you use catver.ini lists? i am pretty sure it has to do, with the categories. that it stalls at 55% is normal, on my GameEx it takes some minutes to proceed, it depends on horsepower CPU how long this step takes. i had your problem too, the solution for me, was another catver.ini list, that file that devides the games into different categories. i would try GameEx with a clean MAME. No history.dat, no mameinfo.dat etc. and look how far i would come with that.
-
I didnt want to upset you headkaze.... I still like MC64, especially for beginners, who never did that before. I use many different MAME versions and like the features of MCAS to handle the different versions. the including tools to alter the MAME .dat file are the reason, why i decided to use it primarly. without MC64, i would never started to compile MAME versions to my like.
-
and the best is, it has a CRT... so much more fun, with the real stuff.
-
i highly recommend this tool: http://www.systempixel.fr/en/ its the easiest compile-tool i have seen and it got a lots of extra stuff, like cleaning up the MAME .dat file. i also like the app from Headkaze, as it have nearly the same functions, but concentrate only on compiling. you decide....

looks really nice....very stylish and a lot of systems. good job
