i have the same problems for i.e. atari 2600, if I use the GameEx database, I have to rename all videosnaps exactly to that name, otherwise they dont show up . If I dont use the GameEx Database they show up working with "snap best match" function. Its kinda weird . My way to solve this, was to download the snapshot-PICTURES and then to rename all the videosnaps like them. pain in da ass if you ask me. I didnt find a better way and would be happy, to see another solution for this.

I also think, that this is a cache problem. I have the same problems like the ones mentioned here.

It works in the same way for MAME too..... BUUUUUT then you will need to setup MAME as a seperate Emulator like i.e. a SNES or Atari setup inside of the setup-wizard of GameEx. I cannot recommend to do this, as you will loose ALL the nice features GameEx have to offer for official MAME versions or derivates like MAME UI FX and so on. You will NOT have a Historyfile or Highscore saves or Cheats etc. GameEx MAME features highly depends on the official build / sources of MAME or it derivates ( which use the official sources too). Thats why you have all the nice stuff and this is the way how it works. Retroarch however is just using only the core of MAME, missing important stuff, which GameEx needs to create the magic. If you take a close look, you will see that the core is a little bit old (v0.151). So lets say the MAME-developers are putting out a new version, you will need to wait until the Retroarch-developers are making a new core for MAME, which is the reason why I am not using Retroarch for MAME stuff. [REDACTED] Now you think "how bad, i cant use the cool shaders on MAME, or if I do, i will sacrifice a lot of the nice features MAME normally has". You really think that the Retroarch-Shaders are better than the HLSL settings in MAME? I think, you have not seen good examples of HLSL. If you are really into shaders and want some good HLSL results and you understand english well, than I recommend to take a look here: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45026&start=330 scroll a little bit down and take a close look on the INIcreator v0.3 of user NUeda. Sadly we havent heard of NUeda a long time and the links to his great tool are dead meanwhile, buuuut you are here in one of the best forums ever seen and I attached you this tool at the end of this post. Read the instructions carefully in my provided link above and be ready to see some stunning HLSL results inside of MAME. If all goes well, you will have independent HLSL settings for over 50 systems. As I am a lazy ass, I hope you can do this all alone, as you should do a little effort too Hope you understand this. It took me months to research, accomplish and collect all this stuff and besides this, it cannot be that hard for you now . Hope, I could help and happy HLSL. Best wishes, u-man. _INI_Creator_v0.3_(050+051).zip

this is my command line for retroarch: retroarch.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" -c stella_libretro.dll.cfg -f be aware that you need to configure your GenesisPlus IN Retroarch in that way, that you have a working config-file in Retroarch. my commandline above is for Stella, the atari 2600 emulator. In addition I have put the ".cfg" file into the root folder of Retroarch. Normally it would be found in the "autoconfig" folder. It is very important that your GenesisPlus config works inside Retroarch. If it does, than you need to save this under "Save New Config" inside of Retroarch. Then you just need to grab this config file and put it in the root folder of Retroarch and use my commandline. exchange "stella_libretro.dll.cfg" with the name of your config file and you should be ready to go. I agree with you, that Retroarch has the best shaders ever made... I love them too . If they build in a option for resolution switching, it will be perfect. I can only highly recommend to check out this incredible frontend. For Atari 2600 and SNES systems, it uses the best cores available for those systems, unlike the cheesy MESS-stuff which is pretty useless comparing to Retroarch.

i think we had this problem allready. as i remember it doesnt had to do with GameEx. I think the history-file was bad formatted. there was some semicolon error in some of the history-data. i would try one from another source. i didnt have that problem anymore, but i am sad that i cannot contribute the right file right now. as my newest setup is on the wee-cade of my girlfriend . maybe someone else, have the right history-data-file. PS: ooh, i have seen that nullPointer allready has pointed to that thread... .... smooth operator he is

just read the post of DazzleHP carefully and you will understand. you dont need to delete something.

It depends on the stuff, you have for each emulator. if you want to show box-art instead of snap or titles, just point to the box-art path at, where you have the titles or snaps. this is done in setup-wizard at the emulator section. this way you can trick / fool GameEx. this works at least for me. a little cheesy but it works. .

[THEME] >>> GameroomEX v2 Discontinued!!! <<<
u-man replied to Krakerman's topic in GameEx Media Projects
awesome.... really nice done. great job and my respect for you. -
sad to hear that.... i really would think about this again.... it would be way better to move this stuff, into the info-section, hence when you choose and click on a game, it should be in the list field or at least seperate and put the back, home, exit buttons first in the row of the menue. still excited what the new features will be

Hello again, i would not do that overclocking, as I am 99% sure, you will not need that for your games. Why not first just trying out, if you really need that? I think you have a decent enough system, to run the whole arcade stuff. It will only generate more heat, which will need more cooling. So your advantage of watercooling and a silent system, will just be thrown away.... but thats just my opinion.

Hello Jdurg and welcome to the GameEx Forums, as I am rather lazy , lets go straight to your questions: 1:) off course you can do this. you have three options for clones. A: show them all in your gamelist among the other games too or B: show them only after choosing one version. And last but not least: dont show them at all . 2:) it will simply move to the background and let MAME run the game with all the magic... My recommendation: google for "Nueda's INI Creator v0.3" and use that with MAME. It will create HLSL settings for over 50 systems + 51 ROMs + EXTRA and this stuff look really awesome... i would say, the best settings you can have so far. 3:) No issues I am aware off... but if there are some, just ask, there will be for sure a Solution. 4:) No problem at all. This feature is allready build in in GameEx, with even more extras, like accounts and logins. 5:) No problem at all. This feature is allready build in in GameEx. create a emulator group... and put all the different MAME versions there. Or use custom map-files for your different versions. more pictures showing what options there are for setups here: http://www.gameex.com/Support/SetupWizardconfigurationguide.aspx Good Luck.... and happy gaming.

Thats exactly what I wrote in post# 17 . Thats not what I wanted to try, but I wanted to use the Home and Exit Buttons in form of graphical buttons and not the text versions of them. This way I could get rid of the "normal" menue at all. Hope you can understand what I mean . If you look at the screenshot of the Default - Default Theme, there you will see those buttons I mean. My problem is that I cant see them in any theme I load with GameEx . Maybe this is only true for very old GameEx versions... I dont know.

Feature & Enhancement Requests
u-man replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
It was not very wisely to put all this GE magic (the sorting options... by name, by manufacturer etc.) into the menue-bar. This can only by handy on a FullHD Setup. In EVERY other case, this is just annoying and cluttering important stuff. I have seen it on the birthday of my Girlfriend, where everyone played our Weecade and everyone did get lost from time to time in the huge navigating menue. My advice would be, to put all this stuff, into the info page, when you select a game and NOT into the menue. Dont see anything usefull here in cluttering the menu with stuff, that is not important for navigating....worst thing is, that the most important buttons (back, home, exit) of the menue, are always the last in the order of the menue.... guys think about this. and why the hack we need a manufacturer AND developer field??? this is something that I dont like the most (this makes the menue bar sooo huge ), of the otherwise nice GE magic. Clearly, it would be the best, if Tom would put all of this stuff into the info field, where it belongs IMHO. GE magic is not suitable for 4:3 Displays or Arcade-Cabs, I prefer map-files in that case... sad but true. -
My main problem is, that i cant see them in ANY theme, no matter what Theme I choose, they are simply not there. Do you see them? I mean I see them on the screenshots of a theme, but not actually in GameEx itself . It still can be a problem that only me has, as I have quirks with other stuff that seems that only I have. Like the Listnum field which is only visible, if it is IN the range of the List-field etc. I have installed GameEx on three different machines, and on all of them I have the same problems . With all the knowledge i learned from you and the others contributors, i would just like to start from scratch, only to get rid of my problems.... basically i sit here and wait for Evolution coming out in the hope to create stuff like i want it to be.

yeah, i did that. i did everything what i described in my previous post, but Home and Exit buttons are missing , all other buttons are there, but these two not. In the Theme Editor, I cant select the properties for Home and Exit. Instead it will choose the last selected item. Maybe you can tryout, if it works for you, but I have no option to select these two buttons in the theme-editor. You can find them under the "buttons" folder, but I cant select them . What would I need to change in my GameEx.ini settings or where to look for, if that really is enabled?
-
DERP! ... too lazy man Hey Draco, but maybe you know, how to use the EXIT and HOME buttons of a theme. I cant select them, in a theme and they are not visible as a graphic either .
-
yeah, thats where you need to look at. if you dont have a intel-onboard-graphics systemproperties-panel, i would recommend to download the newest available at intel download center. as the shortcuts are on by default, it is highly your issue with the rotating in MAME. like i said, i had this problem too and this solved it.

Hello DazzleHP,

Hello cnells2000, I had this on my bartop/ weecade too.... but this has nothing to do with GameEx. In my case, it was the Intel onboard-graphics-systemproperties. So i would check the Properties for your Graphics-card and look if shortcuts are enabled. In my case, there where shortcuts activated by default and caused the rotary-trouble. Just check if you maybe have the same setting activated.... I am pretty sure, it has to do with this . Good Luck

Sorry for my late reply here, i think i can help, but i need more infos about DarkStars Setup regarding Hardware used in his cab-setup. Most important is what graphic card is used. Only ArcadeVGA cards and ATI cards are capable of being setup with Windows7. It is for sure a 15khz CRT, thats why he had problems starting Windows7 in 640x480 resolution. So if Darkstar can bring us some light, there will be a solution. Your problem is not a GameEx problem, its a driver problem of Windows7 nothing else. Hope I can help you now... didnt hanged around here lately.
