Hello guys, again me , i have some questions, prior installing again . Do you think it is enough to choose English Language on the Windows7 Installation, to have a English Windows7? Is it enough to add English via language installation pack? I would like to test a GameEx version 12.90 or less, does anyone have such a version-installer. I cant download anywhere a older version, that is older than the recent one (13.09). Please help me with this, maybe Tom has a older version as a backup and could send me this one. thank you all guys, for trying to help me out here

hi nullPointer, this error will not show up in any log-file. i can only make a screenshot of it and post it again. the same was true, with the Setup-Wizard HTPC/Multimedia setting error, that now has gone away on the new Laptop. so at least one error is gone . to be true, my girlfriend told me the same as you. that maybe the OS language matters. on my cab-machine everything works fine, but there is XP 32bit ENGLISH installed. on the other hand, everything worked everywhere fine, until the christmas-time 2012. this error is really driving me mad. I still want to go further with my theme, but right now, it is a painfull job. i was so happy with the new Laptop and thought i can do the theme-stuff, if i visit my girlfriend and she need to work, but i cant . If i am at home, i need to swap files all the time and change stuff on a 640x480 interlaced resolution . it would be a relief, if i would know that i am not the only one with this experience. i mean to proof that, i need to find a german OS and GameEx user, who could try the same.... OMG

hello Draco, yes, i did a fresh download of the latest GameEx (13.09). I have added the gameex.ini, themeeditor.txt, and log.txt files as attachment. I installed the Shark-Codecs... 32bit and 64bit... in that order. I uninstalled GameEx from the (x86) programs folder and installed it on C:/ .... on root so to say, with no success , i am still having the annoying error. Things that changed on new Laptop with new OS: I can go into the HTCP/Multimedia Settings from the Setup-Wizard again, without quitting unexpectly . log.txt ThemeEditor.txt GameEx.ini

hello guys, I am sorry to bump this topic on top again, but i have some news. I recently bought a new laptop, needless to say that i needed to install a fresh, new Windows7 64Bit and guess what? yeah, i got the same f#*+ing error again . and no, i did not use my theme to see that happen again. And again, I am here to ask some stupid questions: 1. Can I install GameEx in to the (x86) programs folder? does this have any downside effects? 2. I did not install any codec-packs, i installed GameEx on a fresh Windows7 SP1 64Bit. Can i savely assume this error has not anything to do with non-installed codecs? Reminder: Clean, fresh Windows7 SP1 64bit on a new Laptop Clean, fresh GameEx using Default Themes Still getting the same Error, described in this thread Everything worked before Christmas 2012 any help appreciated.... thank you all

no wonder.... i asked you first time in september 2012. a time where you are moving from one place to another. you was under stress at that time and promised to look at it, when you have more time. suprisingly after two months you really come up with a new Randomizer tool and attached this .zip for me for trying. i did not have time because of much work. i feel a little bad, because you put that effort in and i didnt honor this.... pretty shameful . first i thought i lost your .zip-file, but yesterday i remembered our PN conversation and voilá there was the zip again. unfortunately, i am loaded with work again and still cannot test it . dont want to start code-wars here but i still think that this will be a nice feature for GamEx. IMHO i dont think it is to hard to be done (maybe allready done by Tempest) .

I checked my post again and below are parts of the conversation, also attached the new Randomizer Plug-In and how to use it (found again ). Krakerman, I think that is the thing you are looking for. I did not test it, but it sounds good. explanation: there are existing original artwork-bezels for many MAME games... 819 to be exact . but there are still many games with no artwork-bezels, due to the lack of no artwork at all or no good quality picts. if you use bezels, you can only use EITHER the original ones OR the GameEx ones BUT NOT both. my hope is, that with your plugin and some magic it would be possible to use a bezel based on the kind of game. if it is a original game and you have the artwork-bezel then GameEx should use this and if you have a original game but no artwork-bezel then your plugin would use a random self created bezel (i.e. the default one in GameEx). Sent 09 November 2012 - 01:28 PM I haven't tested this, so please be patient if it needs tweaking. Usage: Randomizer.exe "1" "[Rom]" The [Rom] parameter is needed to check for the existence of a particular file. In your case you will be checking to see if there is an existing bezel for a game before randomizing. If a bezel is found the randomzer exits without doing anything. Let me know if it does not work correctly. Attached Files Randomizer.7z 291.5K Sent 09 November 2012 - 02:50 PM oh how nice is that.... yeah i will check it, when i got home. thank you very much for this..... Sent 10 November 2012 - 07:19 PM sorry to say that, but i have no clue, how to use the parameter do i need to put this in the command line field for MAME in GameEx? thx anyway.... Sent 10 November 2012 - 11:21 PM I am assuming that you have not used the Randomizer before? From the Randomizer topic: Quote In the Setup wizard goto Advanced Mame Settings (2) and enter Randomizer.exe "1" "[ROM]" in the 'Run On Launch'

i can only repeat myself.... i did Tempest exactly ask for that feature for his Randomizer-PlugIn..... he did this and send me a new version of Randomizer for test-purpose. .... and here the story turns bad. i had really much work to do and put this beside. As i finished my work, i could not find his .zip-file again. i have backupped it somewhere and i am not able to find it anymore..... i am really, really sorry for this . Krakerman you should ask Tempest for this, as i am shure he had done this job correctly and indeed this would be a very nice feature. we could even start a Bezel-competetion .

i would also say, it is the video card. the ps2 emu has even special drivers and shaders for the emu. i would also try smaller resoultions, in fact the "real" ps2 has a resolution of 320x240, maybe that helps. i tried Supermodel for example, and this emu is really GPU hungry. i tried a GTX 8800 and can not get more than 30-40 frames... but i need 60... so try to lower your settings and look if it gets better.
-
nice job and good news.... i run into problems setting a specific resolution in window mode. lets say i want 800x600, then the window is not 800x600, it is such as big like your last setting of the window. so good so far, but if you have manually changed the window size, then it remembers THIS setting. my question is, how i can be sure, to see the actually choosen resolution? how i can reset to the resolution of 800x600 in a window?

[THEME] (XBMC) Aeon Inspiriat - Now Released!

you need to make the "unselected.png" file transparent / opaque to get rid of the "in-between" lines. make your own "unselected" picture, like a gradient i.e. as a foreground layer and put that instead over your list and you are good to go. IMHO i liked your first version more.... but that is just a opinion. -
Hello sirus20x6 and welcome to the forums . you allready answered your question by yourself . you need to use the "change view" option from the menue and you need to use it that often, until you get the view you want. the view you want, exists two times, one in a larger version and one in a smaller version but with a little more "boxes". the "change view" option, has many different views, so just be patient and press it a few more times, until you get the desired look back. hope that helps and feel free to ask.

ok, i did keep that in mind, that some art or foreground is maybe "covering" my counter, but i checked this more than twice. so you actually testet it, to put your counter somewhere on the left side (where it is not covered by something off course) and it worked for you? you see that counter? thanks in advance, u-man -
both save hi-scores but if this works with HiToText-tool .... i dont know, i would say yes. if you have a ATI card, then go definetely with "groovy-mame", also NVIDIA is supported (newest version) but it is not as good as ATI which is more like "plug n´play". if you have a NVIDIA go with "cab-MAME", as it have better support for this brand, than groovy-MAME has. All in all, groovy-MAME is more user-friendly and it is easier to achieve "arcade-perfect" resolutions. you decide... if you looking for cab-usage, both are very good choices.

looks very clean and nice indeed. i like the design and colors you choose. you can find good quality GameEx Logos here: http://www.gameex.com/Download/MediaandImages.aspx maybe you could help me and tell me what happen to your counter if you move it completely to the left side.... i.e. if you put it where the game-screens are. my counter dissappears completely, i need to put it below (or on top) of my gamelist, to actually see it. i am wondering, if this happens to others too. you would help me a lot, by telling me your experience with the counter. -
do you try to make a MAME-UI compile? it didnt worked for me too, but "normal" MAME did go all the way. give it a try, with the "normal" MAME source-code, it should go . also if you want to use that MAME for a cab, i recommend "cabmame" or "groovymame", both versions are great for cab-users and have many great stuff build-in, like hiscore saves, no nag-screens, better sound sync support and arcade-perfect resolutions.

you need to calibrate, while you are in game: in game you press F2 then wait 5 sec. then you are in service menue then wait again 5 sec. you can scroll up and down with key "ß?\" and the key right of it. i am from europe, maybe your key "ß?\" is somewhere else . you choose gun-calibration and enter with F2 you are now in the gun-calibration mode rest is self-explained happy shooting, u-man

glad i could help you , please mark this topic as "Resolved". do this by editing your first post of this thread. click the advanced options and change topic accordingly. thx u-man

you need to find out, what the corresponding key on your cab is. open "notepad" and press the buttons and joysticks to see, when "5" appears on the notepad. remember the button or joystick direction you pressed and try it then with the screensaver attract mode of GameEx. also you maybe need to compile MAME for "direct input". try "CabMAME" or "GroovyMAME" for your Cab. they are the best MAME versions for people, who have a MAME-Cab. I HIGHLY recommend them . they have optimized resolutions and solutions for CAB-usage, including HiScore Save and so on.

press "5" and then "1" for one player or "2" for players, works for me.

i recommend to use h264 codec in a .avi container. best quality and smallest size . post your results in the theme-section of the forum. new animations are always welcome, even if it is just a small intro . http://www.gameex.info/forums/forum/22-gameex-user-projects/ happy theme-ing

yes.... you can use the "GameExIsLoading.png" for intro-stuff. same process, with renaming and so on. supported are mpg2 or any .avi codec supported by your system. no gif, no swf. be aware that if you have a long intro, that GameEx start loading AFTER your intro and not while playing your intro, this is the small downside . also you need this to enable in your setupwizard with the "show loading screen" option.

first i thought it maybe was my alpha-overlay covering the field. in first place i wanted to put it right under the CP, on the black border so to say. it works with the scroller field for example, but not with the listnum field . then i tried it to move around and recognized this behaviour. if you look carefully there is nothing overlaying the listnum field in my example. even if it does not touch the description field or overlaying the list field a little. you will not see it in "action" . if it is not to much hassle, try it for yourself and move the listnum to a place where it is right or left from list field and tell me your results. it would be much of help . thx Draco.

maybe late, but i even came late to my own grats so Happy Birthday GimmeClassic, best wishes from retro-fan to retro-fan, keep the "real" thing live .

no matter how big it is, i.e. the field in the picture, will be seen if i move it over or under the List field. but left or right dont work, even if i make it as big as list . i just want to know, if others experiencing the same and what could be a workaround. if there is no one, i need to think some other way to treat this. thank you Draco, for looking at this.
