  1. Isn't direct draw just really buggy past XP? I recall Tom's post, and there was talk of some work arounds in that thread, although I'm not sure they have any relevance to this particular topic.
  2. Glad you got things back up and running, and thanks for posting as such As for the codecs, It really shouldn't matter, but thanks for pointing out that the advanced ones are in the cleaned up version you downloaded. The Shark codecs have just gone through some updates, and it could be that version isn't the most recent, but don't quote me on that. I'll be sure to mention it though. I asked this question myself back a month or so ago, and Tom indicates that the standard 32 bit is all that required. He also mentioned that while the Windows versions worked, LAV was better.
  3. Welcome to the Pinball X forums! Are you running the standard codecs found here ? Previous to downloading the shark codecs, did the Windows codecs work with 1.94, or is that what prompted you to grab the shark codecs. <edit> seems to me like downloading the shark codecs was an attempt to fix the problem after the 1.94 upgrade? Aside from that, you should check out the help thread for the files that will give everyone a peak into whats going on.
  4. Nice! I recently put mine in during the holiday break. If you're a Tempest fan, you might want to give this a go!
  5. That's great news! Glad I could help.
  6. If you decide to go with the MAME source exe route, I recommend you check out headkaze's compiler. Keep in mind that it may take some time before the application is pulling down the most current source release (as this part is not automated), but this is by far my favorite application for compiling source releases. It is IMO the most simplified way to complie to your liking.
  7. I can't really say, I'm a vanilla MAME64 kinda guy. Based on what I read on their site earlier today, it's just added feature set though. I'd venture to guess that as long as things are current release wise, you're good to go.
  8. GameEx has great support for MAME built in, but you can choose to go about in different ways outside of this. Regardless, stick to one approach. Try working within these config sections to take advantage of the Integrated feature, which also utilizes the filtering. Be prepared for some tweaking to tailor the filtering to your particular liking though, and some experimenting may be necessary. Don't confuse Advance Mame settings with Advancemame (which is really for vintage CRT support, Wells Gardner etc.) Based on your earlier configs, I believe you've just created a bit of confusion, and so the filters you're applying aren't filtering as you expect since they don't apply to emulator or Advancemame configs.

  10. You missed the rabbit foot Have you tried only using the integrated MAME support? Looks to me like you have: Integrated MAME AdvanceMame and a emulator for MAME The filtering options are for integrated support
  11. I'm typing this on my phone, which I'm terrble at btw, but I'm nearly certain that If you purchased gameex in the last quarter of 2013 or afterwards, then you qualify for the free upgrade to Evolution.
  12. There's not a great deal involved setting it up, and DazzleHP covers it well in this post Uses: Streaming media to other devices on your network Configure your cabinent without standing in front of it. Something I find extremely useful, much easier from a desk and chair that hovering over your control panel. Invite someone to review, and correct configurations remotely. You GameEx rig must be online to browse and switch between games. You should be able to freely move throughout your game collection, and launch, close, adjust volume.
  13. Is there a complete list of all upcoming releases, or is it a surprise thing? Hopefully they're going to give PodRacer the nod.
  14. Yeah, I popped in my CD just now, no go. Started a quick search for playing on Win7 when I ran across this info on wiki..... SUCKS..........
  15. patience, grasshopper There's some really talented members here who go out of their way to help with issues like this. I may be a couple of days before someone with the answer sees your thread though.
  16. Matter of personal preference IMO. I prefer to have an entire set, as I am of the belief that it is much easier to manage full sets than a customized version specifically tailored to only what you want. No way do I want the extra headache of creating clean sets with each release cycle, but if storage is a concern, you view of this could greatly differ. Personally, I would utilize the options within GameEx to the fullest, and see if I was happy with the results before getting heavily involved producing a clean set. As to the clones question, I see no reason why this wouldn't hold true still.
  17. Man, what memories! I wonder why nobody at Lucas Arts realized the magic they once had, but lost..... I never played the RTS games, but just gave everything a good look, Empire at War looks like fun, but giving Rogue Squadron another spin would be a trip back in time!
  18. Do something special, and enjoy your day!
  19. Good find! I've been playing around doing the same thing with the storage, but reverted back to sneakernet.
  20. No problem Welcome to the forums
  21. Switch to Port 21
  22. I've come to the conclusion that it's a prerequisite for stigzler to find the most involved, intense and time consuming project out there, and that's the one he picks.
  23. Yep, it helps a lot that Tom not only authors GameEx, but the emumovies downloader too Doesn't get any easier!
  24. I would suggest you do some searching for which ones actually work, and base your decision on that. You will find that the vast majority do not work, and yes, you can pick and chose. You'll likely be happier for it in the end, should you decide to bother with them.
  25. I second u-man on that tutorial, that's what I used too. As I'm sure you know, there's lots of good info out there on the subject, but the visual presentation makes things so much more clear.
