  1. I will give it a go. What's the worst that can happen? If I don't like it I can change to something else. But always willing to give something new a go.
  2. And the beat goes on! .... I unearthed my old HP 2760p laptop/tablet hybrid. i7-2640M @ 2.8GHz, 256GB SATA III SSD, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 720p display. Installed Batocera 43.1 on it and transferred the files from my handy dandy drive. I found it is faster to just keep the USB drive aside with all the files since I seem to be doing this a lot lately. As an aside - 43.1 will now merge the new files from USB to the internal drive automatically! Nice feature. Runs up to PS1. Not bad at all for a 2nd Gen system. I know she won't do more but I have to say what it does run looks really nice on the 12" screen. To think a month ago I had this in the e-waste pile bound for the recycling. Even splurged an extra $25 for a brand new battery. I wish laptops still did the internal keyboard light. You can see it at the top of the bezel in the picture. It's such a cool little gadget. Up next! Intel BOXNUC8i7HNKQC1 I got extremely cheap! $100 but I fixed it easily. I just have no plan on what to do with it yet... I couldn't resist that damn LED skull! Then I have a GMKTec G5 (N97, 12GB RAM, 256GB SSD) I am going to install INSIDE of my older X-Arcade Tankstick.
  3. I have 12 PC systems in the house that will run anything I want to throw at them. They blow away the specs on the Steam Machine. But accounting for today’s pricing and accessibility by the general “id10t” consumer (I use that tongue in cheek) I didn’t think the pricing was so bad. It’s just gotten ridiculous to try and price/build anything right now. (I have 12 as I was trying to go into business full time as repair/sales/in home tech but there’s no room for another tech right now out there. So slowly selling them off.)
  4. You now... I never got around to trying DVDs on this. I am getting a dumpster next week now that the roof is finished. I cannot wait to throw out half the house and put my office together. Then I can get at it again. Meanwhile I have a new toy - Microsoft Surface Pro - i5-7300u w/ 8GB RAM running Batocera and Steam. Well it's 3 weeks old "new". I love what it can do. I paired it with an 8BitDo controller and took it to Foxwoods. We spent 3 nights there for her birthday and this was perfect to just slide into the suitcase. Plays PS2 and Dreamcast with zero issues. I expected it to overheat since there is no built in active cooling but it never did. Amazingly sharp too! I have a MAJOR computer addiction! 🤣
  5. Why is that might I ask?
  6. Basements are always good for something! But as for money… I used to have things that had numbers and were green paper! I miss those days! LOL
  7. Not sure if I ever linked it before but for reference here’s my basement. I do love the kitsch items like the lamps and figures but for me I also had to be able to hang it or shelf it. I went with the cloth wall tapestries, framed magazine ads, even got a few different light switch covers I found online. I wanted the decorative clutter, but I wanted to make sure it took up as little space as possible… And the walls are always a good place to put stuff and not take up desk space! For reference the only two standing Nintendo displays I have left that are taking up floor space are blocking the closets. I got rid of the third one and I’m thinking about getting rid of these two as well just because they’re in the way sometimes. But I like them!
  8. Still have mine BNIB (almost - I did test it initially) until I get the basement office back in order. I refuse to sell it though I could probably get 6x the price I paid. I love this clock.
  9. I got a small Padalone desk light on top of my yellow clock. PAC-Man colors and the clock looks like something out of the 80’s. Makes for a great retro display.
  10. I haven’t had one in 14 years and I still have occasion to look longingly at someone with a cigarette. Goes away in a flash but it’s always there. great job! 👍🏼
  11. Hopefully this helps out the AMD users that are holding what could possibly end up being expensive paperweights. Surprising though overall since video cards that are 8,9 maybe even 10 years old still get driver updates. That’s Nvidia talking though. I’ve not used an AMD video card since I threw my R9 290 into a wall and never looked back. 🤷‍♂️
  12. I have been using Arctic MX-4 for ages. I found something that works for me every time and I don’t plan on changing it unless they stop making it. 😁
  13. I visit Funspot at least 5 times a year. ACAM is a favorite destination for me. Gary is awesome to chat with. Really nice guy with a passion for video games.
  14. Interesting. I have an i7-6700 HP Elite Slice coming. I may have to try this out. It was going to be a Batocera build but maybe this first.
