  1. Wow, that "feature" wouldn't get annoying to friends and family.
  2. I was able to get the theme I've been working on (based on the Ambient Occlusion theme) more to my liking, and all of a sudden I can't see any background (startbak.png, etc.). No files have been moved, and I've verified the filenames. Any thoughts or suggestions? Theme.ini
  3. Well, I'm not sure where I'm at at this point I was able to remove the underline, so that is fixed! I've got a new one though, so I'd say mark this one as resolved... I'll pose the new question in a new topic. Thank you!
  4. Thanks for the replies, folks. I had looked at the Unselected and cleared it out, but found that it wasn't applying. After review I'm sure I did this to myself... I made a copy of the entire Ambient Occusion directory and was editing and using that one instead. For some reason it didn't seem to update consistently, so I'm assuming there's some sort of path in there possibly hardcoded? Not sure and haven't had time to investigate much yet, but after copying my changes from the copied directory back to the original it seems that the updates are now applying. Thanks again!
  5. I'd like to get a screenshot but have not had luck getting it. Anyhow, the menu in my theme is laid out properly it seems, but there are underlines between each list item, and they stretch all the way to the right side. Anyone know how to get rid of them? I'm bastardizing the Ambient Occlusion theme. Edit: Here it is:
  6. If you mean an actual shell replacement, I'd say run away from that idea at this point. In the past it made sense and was a lot less likely to blow things up. Now you're playing with fire. Duglim's approach is the safest route.
  7. Thanks, Draco. I did try that, but never got any background even after changing the view for around 20 mins. I'm thinking Adultery's explanation explains why I'm not getting anywhere
  8. LOL So I guess I didn't get that part, Adultery I am pretty sure I am getting what you're saying this time. We'll see when I get home!
  9. No, I've got that part. I am going into the "All Games" section for Mame - sorry for not being more clear on that!
  10. I'm working on building a theme based off the Carbon theme, and one thing that I can't figure out is why I can't seem to apply a background to the all games menu. The foreground "frame" shows up, but it seems as though the game backgrounds are overriding the background that I've specified. I tried to adjust it so the foreground frame included the background, but that didn't seem to do anything. I did click "Edit" to ensure that I was editing the right graphic filename. I'm betting that there has to be a setting that I've chosen that overrides the theme background with the specific game one, but I've yet to find it. The backgrounds do show up for other parts of GameEx, this seems specific to the All Games page. Any thoughts or recommendations? Banging my head against the wall isn't helping... much.
  11. Thank you - I'll give that a try!
  12. I've yet to build a favorites list and wanted to see if there's an app out there for selecting games that you want in a favorites list, vs. visiting each game info and adding to favorites, etc. I know ROMlister can categorize games based on different criteria, but as this one involves personal favorites I don't know if that would apply. Any recommendations? How did you all build your lists?
  13. You need Windows first, and the Raspberry Pi is not going to run that. While admirable, there is no way you'll get from here to there using that approach.
  14. You really helped me today, I appreciate it! The knowledge that there was a difference between AdvanceMame and Advance Mame (as it shows in Gamex Setup here) helped give perspective. I put in a command-line version of 157 that Jumpstile had put together, and voila - after an update list I can finally see Galaga! Thank you very much - it literally is one of the most important ones for me as it's my dad's (senior citizen) favorite and I am looking forward to setting him loose on it!
  15. I think this is where I headed down the wrong path. Re-checking now. Is it ok to use the version I'm using though (MameUIfx), or should I be throwing in a command-line exe only?
