    (Set xx)

Not necessarily. Sometimes the subsequent sets, as Adultery noted, are on a different board (this may be due to a change in manufacturer for the board, however, other than instructions that may have been needed for a different chipset, no funcitionaly changes in the ROM code itself). Some may be as you said - an upgrade in functionality. Keep in mind that the original ROM set is defined as the original working set. Subsequent sets may not necessarily work in the version of MAME you are using if at all. A good definition of Original ROM Set, Revisions, BIOS ROMS, Clones, and Bootlegs can be found here - see the Game Data section of the article.
  2. HK or Tempest - will Marquee Magician , Game Extender or any other programs that are compatible for use with this monitor or others like it that connect via USB?
  3. Could this rating be incorporated as part of saving a game to Favorites? So when the user saves to Favorites, they are prompted with an option to give the game a rating? Also, to "bump" a previous request - this could be be an option if creating a games "Play List."
  4. B2K24 or Chriss, Are the instructions for disabling the "nag" screens the same as Chriss posted? Also how can I enable the high scores in MAMEUI? Thanks again! .:.EDIT I finally found HK's 64 Compiler and instructions and it appears fairly complete and to the point - will have to give it a go.
  5. There isn't an option under Advanced MAME settings, but there is for MAME and Daphne are setup under Emulators.
  6. Are there similar instructions for compiling mameui32/64 for 0.140?
  7. I have enabled the No Image Snap feature for all emus I have setup currently (MAME, Daphne, WInKawaks, Future Pinball, Mess, Project 64, etc.). Thus far, it is working well for for all but MAME and Daphne.
  8. Another feature that I will likely invoke if I have this moved from my current PC to an HTPC or cab is the Users feature Tom released some time ago. That way, when I have guests over, I can load my GameEx version that has the Exit to Windows, Logoff, and other features I do not wish to have available to them enabled. This also works well for kids as they can be setup with their own themes and emus and parents can have total control over what they get to play (and, more importantly, don't play, like Mahjong ).
  9. Using GIMP - these are really simple copy, clean, paste, cut & scale from others graphics (as I don't have the ability yet to create my own unique graphics but can modify the heck out of others). Once you get the proportions down it is quite easy.
  10. Here are a few more:
  11. if I understand him correctly, he islooking for the PC shutdown when ESC is pressed to exit GameEx - the settings in the Setup WIzard (or Advance Configuration) only govern whether or not the option to use the feature is visible in GameEx. This would require a two command link that is not available in GameEx. Likely it would require some sort of launcher or script that starts GameEx and, with a key programmed by user choice to exit GameEx and shut down the PC. There is a progam that might work with GameEx called HVLauncher. I would think it may even be possible to write an AHK script that would accomplish the same feat - a GUI would be nice(although I know nothing about writing scripts so will defer to the masters)>
  12. I believe he is active on Hyperspin - pretty nice cab demos to boot. Maybe if someone is active there they could ask him if he still has a copy of his them to send to Tom.
  13. I got bit by the bezel making bug and came up with a few for both Vertical and Horizontal games (Also made 1 of each specifically for the Carbon & Steel theme). You can download them from here. Thanks to Tom for hosting them. Let me know what ya think!
  14. I like the update!
  15. Thanks to Tom for hosting a sampling of bezels (Horizontal and Vertical) I have created. They can be found here. Enjoy!
  16. Have you tried disabling the cocktail mode in GameEx and just worked with the dispswitch settings? If so, what was the result?
  17. I know that i have seen where an application loading will show very briefly and could potentially create a flicker. I haven't noticed anything in the way of a flash across the entirety of the screen as a result of something loading.
  18. Here is are the vertical and horizontal bezels I created for use with the Carbon & Steel theme I created and am using currently. I replaced the original bezels for both the games in play as well as the attract mode screensaver to keep the feel of the theme throughout. Be sure to rename the mame - horizontal.png to mame.png and place in the BEZEL directory.
  19. I've tested all 3 (Weather, News, and You Tube) and still not having any problems - so no bad news from Casa de Draco! with this latest release or the previous. I am using IE 9 Beta for my default browser. If anything, all seem to run smoother.

    Gamer Tags

No need for embarassment - the instructions are located here.
  21. My Game Card is no longer displaying (I get the image place holder). I also went to the http://www.gameex.com/Community.aspx page and the Game Card link is no longer showing. HELP!
  22. On my old PC I found that I did better with no less than 256 MB on the GPU. On the older PCs, you will often do better with as much RAM as the mobo and the OS will support.
  23. Congrats, Mr & Mrs Celly on your new arrival!
  24. This process has worked for some and may work for you - in the GameEx>Data directory, delete all files with cache in the file name. Reboot, then try to reinstall through the update process. If this doesn't resolve the issue, delete the cache files in the GameEx>Data directory again, then install from download. As always, you may want to backup your GameEx directory prior to attempting.
  25. Buddy, you may go wherever you wish! Glad you are still around and hope that you will continue to be for some time! I am sure that I speak for most everyone that we appreciate your frequent input, questions, and contributions and I can relate to the need and benefits of having something to give you a focus away from whatever obstacles can bring you down.
