  1. Ian - glad ya got things going in a positive direction! You will need to install the Shark007 32-bit codecs and the 64-bit add-on pack for Win 7 x64 as some apps will make calls to the 32-bit WMP or the 64-bit version depending on how they are written.
  2. Excellent job! Is there a Missus Wubble and, if so, what did she have to say about all the dust?
  3. @Krakerman - MS-DOS and DOSBox logos are already created (No more time for alternative logos or re-dos here unless it its to correct for putting the wrong console with a logo). With LOGO PACK #3 I did include a Background.psd and .xcf files so that users can get started and create their own logos. Mastering the reflection and layer masks has a bit of a learning curve, but hey! Why can't we all become Photoshop/GIMP Jedi Masters!
  4. Most emulators that run through a command line or simple GUI will work with GameEx. Give it a try!
  5. @Adultery - Agreed. Some programs will recognize the 64-bit OS and will either error that the OS is not supported, will install under Program Files (x86), or Ian will need to search each for 64-bit versions. Simply moving stuff over will not suffice. If using MAMEUI32, probably best to use MAMEUI64. He will need to install the Shark 007 codecs for Windows Vista/7 64 bit and another pack (will need to read the site notes). Drivers here are crucial. There will also be some tweaks to the OS to increase performance and take advantage of the 64-bit architecture. Too many to list here so Google may be a better friend than I at this point to answer some of the questions.
  6. I think I can find some time to throw something together. While these packs were the most comprehensive I had created, I know that there are more obscure systems that did not make the packs. As for the new theme, it is actually proceeding quicker than anticipated. I created an .xcf (GIMP's version of the PhotoShop .psd file) so it should help me to crank out the foreground and background files. What will be surprising to most is that there will be far fewer of these files (those who want all the foregrounds for specific systems, menus, etc, will just have to create them starting with the .xcf/.psd files provided - imagine that!).
  7. LOL! It's OK Ian, it's what I do. Not sure *why* it was behaving that way, but I was able to work around it by using a different "seed" theme for my new theme. Sometimes it just happens. We can mark this one as resolved!
  8. I was testing a some new theme elements and simply replaced the startbak.png and startbak_foreground.png files of an existing theme and the error as noted in the log occured and GameEx closed. Not sure why this is happening as I have performed these substitutions many times in the past without any problems.
  9. Awesome update, Tom! Thanks!
  10. @Mesk - thanks! They look great in the captures! I will continue to look for another copy of AAE. May see if Circo has a larger image that scales without so much pixelation.
  11. My first guess would be that it is in the diff file he created and, once compiled into the original 0.125 Source Code, effects the changes in the config file noted. Here is the link to ShifterMAME125. I tried just attaching the diff file but, even zipped, was not able to upload it due to size. Tried .zipx format and that failed.
  12. Really appreciate the feedback! The yin-yang symbols (unless you figured it out already) will be the menu up/down buttons. The normal media and volume buttons in upper-right of screen (not shown) will appear as if engraved into the wood. Not sure about chinese text under the emu/page name. Not ruling it out, but not sure how I would translate it into a graphic. BTW, do you know what the text reads in the right?
  13. Anything for you, my friend! LOL!
  14. @Krakerman - U64
  15. Yeah, my son pointed that out to me about the SNES.. will probably post a correction to that soon along with additions of U64 and AAE. EDIT - AAE seems to be lacking in good, clean logos to work with. IF you can come up with something from a screen capture that might be useable that would be awesome.
  16. Mine is just next month, the start of my last year as a 40-sumpin. Just looking forward to spending time with the miss-us. Will probably be moving office stuff into the bedroom that my son will be vacating to move to CA to be with his girlfriend.
  17. Thanks, Tom! Will be giving this a go real soon!
  18. Could it be an issue with the diff file that was used to compile MAME? Or the config that is generated?
  19. I can't lay claim to that adding the waves... This was done by someone a few years back and I borrowed the image to make the logo.
  20. I am probably not the one to ask as I have yet to install or use Visual Pinball, but I believe that many use Visual PinMAME to manage Visual Pinball. That said, I will let the other GameEx "Gods and Gurus" step in and guide!
  21. You aren't on a dark path, just simply on a path to enlightenment and increasing your knowledge of MAME! The easiest way to compile is using Headkaze's Mame Compiler - follow the instructions to the letter. You will probably need to use the version of the compiler linked under the Older Versions of MAME section. Next, you will need to locate the diff file that Minwah created and the hiscore.txt file for the version he wrote the diff file for (MAME 0.125) in addition to the MAME 0.125 source file(and not Minwah's compiled version). Not sure if this will even work for you as I am not aware if there were any mods made by Minwah to the source file. I would also encourage you to backup the contents of your ShifterMAME directory before testing your compiled build in the event you need to revert back to the original.
  22. @Mesk - Thanks! I still hate you BTW.
  23. The next theme will be less arcade or game oriented. It will be a much simpler theme visually than "Sins of a Solar Empire" in that it will not have so many visual elements at play across the screen. It will be a V4 theme using some Chinese elements (wood, characters) with some simple modern flourishes (brushed metal framing) and will be an homage to the great Bruce Lee Kung-Fu fighting flick "Enter the Dragon." Since my handle is also a reference to dragons, I thought it fitting as my last theme (for a while at least). .:.EDIT - Here is a "quick" mock-up of the theme. Going from Left to Right, Top to Bottom; LT Frame Logos, RT List Menu/ROM descriptions, LB FrameSnaps/Vid Snaps, RB Weather Icon, Date & Time, RSS scroll.
  24. Best to PM him - he has been good about sharing in the past if he is at a stage that he is comfortable with sharing.
