  1. Maybe I am not reading what you are saying correctly. Have you looked at the Custom Menus application that downloads with GameEx? You can do exactly what you are suggesting: MAME MESS Etc. You can even subdivide that just a little further by emulated system within the emulator menu item. Take a look at the app and give it a try!
  2. @Hunk_4TH - I found an old post on Emuforums.com regarding the issue (check it out here). Unless the latest incarnation of NullDC has remedied the issue, you should be able to save the game, exit, then load the last save game and the next disc. Apparently this is how it was with the actual game on the console.
  3. Logo Pack # 3 is here! Please remember that you may need to rename a few files and I have noticed a few omissions (Most.png is one, I just made a copy of Mameall.png and renamed it.

    Noob Question

LOL! That's a first! I have never, EVER been accused of being fast at anything!
  5. Logo Pack # 1 is a comprehensive set that I completed a few months ago in a different style. Logo Pack # 2 is the one I sent up yesterday with the system images. Logo Pack # 3 will be the companion to #2. Sorry for the confusion.

    Noob Question

You may be right if you are encountering in both MAME and GameEx. Have you had the BSOD occur with any other programs? Recently updated any drivers (Sound, display, etc.)? Unless you are aware of any specific PC issues, you may want to try installing the latest display and sound drivers for your system.

    Noob Question

Per the site "is a port of the MAMEâ?¢ and MESS emulators for Arcade Monitors and TVs but also for normal PC Monitors." Not usre I would use it since it does not seem to be quite so up-to-date as normal MAME. I would probably disable this in the configuration settings.

    Noob Question

The gameex.ini file is located under c:\gameex\data (or may be under c:\program files\gameex\data. Looks like you provided a Mame config file.
  9. I must warn everyone that the naming is not exactly GameEx-standard so you will have to rename a few of the logos to load properly. I have sent the next pack to Tom and will let you know when it is available for download. It is 40MB+ so will take a few minutes to download. Otherwise, my work here is done.. for the moment!
  10. Members Only is so 1980s. My taste in games may be retro but not clothing! Now where did I sit that bottle of tiger blood...
  11. I admit it - I drank the Kool-Aid. Now if I can just find me a nice pair of Raybans and some cheap Hawaiian shirts, I will be ready to book my flight to Central America and start a GameEx cult!
  12. Hey, Ian.... your game is showing!
  13. I was initially looking at just running MAME when I got started for the old arcade games. I was OK with the GUI version but it seemed lacking, especially when I got turned on to the idea of possibly building an arcade cab. So I started looking at frontends. I chanced upon GameEx while looking at several others. What hooked me, besides the ease of integration with HTPC and arcade systems and a slew of emulators, was the amount of active support from the author down to the users in the forum. You should definitely give it a try especially if you are running multiple emulators.
  14. I checked on the old hfc essentials page and noted that "This ZiNc wraper was added to pass configurations for your controller on a BIOS basis through the Advanced MAME setup in GameEx" per NoLogic's description of the ZiNc tools. That may be a place to start if someone was so inclined to create a new wrapper. One question I have, having not used ZiNc or Model 2 emulation - how much better are the games through these vs. just using MAME? I know that there are some that do not work in MAME or are not that great and do better in the other emulators just from reading the various posts.
  15. I definitely understand your dilemma. Depending on your setup (Steering hardware, pedals, etc.) you may be able to use XPadder or other mapping software to create custom inputs for your regular MAME build and save the hi scores. There are quite a few here that swear by it and can probably help you on your way with how to do it in that build as opposed to ShifterMAME. BTW, what frontend software are you using? If you are not currently using GameEx, I would encourage you to give it a go. It is very customizable and has great forum support from the users and author!

    Noob Question

The gameex.ini file is located in the \gameex\data path. You will need to open it in Notepad and save as a text file before uploading to the forum or zip it and upload. After making changes, you need to first audit your games in MAME, then Update list in GameEx. Try this first if you haven't already and repost your log file and gameex.ini file.
  17. I am almost finished with both logo packs. I know that some were chomping at the bit to get their virtual mitts on the logos with system images. You can download them here on the GameEx.com site under Media & Images (Logo Pack #2 by Draco1962). Please give them a try and let me know how they look on your system. Screen captures optional! I will be releasing the next logo pack in a day or two in the same style without systems and the remaining common GameEx logos to complete the collection.
  18. Not saying I am not either! LOL!
  19. I agree! Let's do it! heh-heh
  20. Take a deep breath... relax... and don't try to get them all done in one day! You will drive yourself daffy!
  21. Not every one. Yours is coming up this summer. I will probably tire of giving happy b-day wishes well before then!
  22. bkenobi you are so silly! Tom hasn't released that version of GameEx yet! If you open the data.mdb in MS Access, you have the ability to export to .an excel spreadsheet or Comma Separated Values (.csv) file, and, if using Office 2007 or later, a few other formats including PDF. Of course, if you don't have MS Office, you can always grab a copy of Sun's (or is it Oracle now?) OpenOffice which is compatible with the MS formats and is free.
  23. Since reimaging my system I have only played a few games and only through MAME. The Data.mdb appears to be where the System Statistics draws the data as it shows the emu number (0 being MAME), ROMFile, Favorite, Times Played, Last Played, Minutes Played, Video Position and Aspect Ratio. I think it is safe to say that is where I would start. You could easily export it to a .csv file so you could "drill down" through the data and sort much more easily to find what you are looking for.
  24. Welcome to the GameEx forums! Usually, being able to update the high scores in MAME requires compiling the latest MAME build with whatever .diff files you desire to remove the Left-Right nag screen and hiscore.txt file to allow for saving of high scores. I reviewed what few docs are available for this program and there is no mention of being able to save high scores. Since this is a non-standard modified build, your best bet is with the author unless someone here has had any success otherwise.I saw where you posted on the Arcade Controls forum a few days ago - have you tried to email Minwah at [email protected] (found in the text file with his post from June 2009)? Best I can tell he hasn't been very active on that site since 2009, so may not be actively involved in maintaining the project any longer. Regards, Mike
  25. Happy Birthday! I have kids your age. What are you doing here? Get your feet off the coffee table! You did WHAT to my car? Get a hair cut and a job! Hope it's a good one!
