  2. Thank you for the reply Celly. I have just tried to change the video options using the TAB button but no matter what I do the ratio seems to either be the same or worst!. It is a lot worst for verticle games as the horizontal play area width is about 3 inchs across on a 29" arcade monitor. Also if i set up Gameex on a Tate arcade monitor, would I have to rotate each game seperately for the tate screen? Or is there an option in gameex to automatically rotate for you? Sorry for the noob questions. It's just that I am having problems with my new mame installation and would like to get it fixed before i start a verticle mame project.
  3. Most horizontal games seem to work fine but there are a few like R - Type that shows up all squashed. For example final fight shows up nicely and fits the screen perfectly but when I try R-type and Xexex, the display shrinks up into a rectangle in the center. I had edited my mame.ini file with the following code as instructed by others: # VIDEO OPTIONS # video ddraw numscreens 1 window 0 maximize 1 keepaspect 1 prescale 1 effect none pause_brightness 0.65 waitvsync 0 syncrefresh 0 # # DIRECTDRAW-SPECIFIC OPTIONS # hwstretch 0 # # FULL SCREEN OPTIONS # triplebuffer 0 switchres 1 I am not sure if this is the problem? Also I am planning on using GAMEEX on a Tate cabinet. Is there a way to get gameex to show up normal on a tate screen and also verticle games to play full screen?
  4. I've now got my doner PC up and running with GameEx and Mame, along with Daphene and megadrive emulators. I'm using a HD4350 and a Jpac. Quick question, once I am happy with it (and have finished prepping the cab) it seems i need to do a final configure to get it cab ready(soft 15, quickres etc). do I need to configure GameEx to use the arcade VGA settings as isn't this what soft15Khz essentially makes the HD4350 act like? Or, does changing the ini file as directed in Sharkfactors thread take care of this? Are there any particular themes I should use in GameEx for arcade screens or will any be resized etc?
  5. okay I understand. I had a feeling it might have been the onboard graphics that is causing the problem. Thanks for the help everyone. I will know for certain when my grpahics card arrive in the post. Will mark this thread as Resolved.
  6. I somehow got the video snaps to work.... Don't ask how but I did. (not sure how lol) Now there is another problem. I notice that when you go into the games list menu the video snaps seem to take forever to show up. I also notice that the ones right at the end i.e Z seems to load up first. It takes a several minutes for all the videos to show up. Is this normal? Not sure how to send my logs. I tried to use the steps in the sticky but that only works if you have set up an emulator in the config. I set up mame from the Set up Mame menu rather than add it in the emulator.
  7. I just installed the shark007 codec and its still the same I can see the video's playing when in the menu but when I go to MAMEgames list the videos doesnt play only the snaps shows. I have set up the config to point to the right directories. When I clear the snaps directory nothing shows.
  8. I installed ffdshow codec. It plays fine using my windows media player so I thought it wasnt a codec problem.
  9. I am having problems displaying Snap video files on my Mame pc. Snaps shows up fine but I cant seem to make the video snaps show. I have tried Mp4 low and high quality and even tried Avi files to no prevail. It shows up fine on my laptop however. I am using the following hardware: Intel Core 2 duo E7600 4gb DDR3 Corsair 60gb SSD 2.5 sata Gagabyte GA-G41MT motherboard with on board graphics card ( i have a Ati 4350 comming in the post which I plan to use with an Ipac in my jamma cab) Windows media player works fine and can play the video outside of gamex. But I can seem to get gamex to run the videos on the menu. Any help would be grately appreciated.
