When I bought the Atari 800XL it came with a 40 column thermal printer. Ewww.

Pretty nice! While I am looking forward to building a gaming HTPC setup, I still hope to build my own cab one day (or acquire a retired cab). If I do, it will be an arcade & pinball dedicated setup since I will be using older, less speedy components than for the HTPC.

As everyone should, djour. One of the most common "new to emulation and frontends" mistakes is expecting everything to run right out of the box without configuring and running the games through the emulator first, setup paths and run through GameEx second. One thing that might help would be for us to update and centralize the resources for the various emulators. While I am probably one of the least experienced of the admins and mods when it comes to knowing exactly how things should be setup within the emulators and withing GameEx, I would be glad to oversee and assist in creating the documentation needed for some of the more frequently used emulators. I don't think it would be too much of an undertaking if we divide and conquer them and get the documentation (with images - even better) and compile them into .pdfs. to add to the product tutorials section and a pinned section within the forums.

Oen does have a point as many of the newer "Next Gen" systems have much steeper processing requirements.

Is that an original Defender cab?

I don't see your name on the GameEx Live! page at all. Did you follow the complete instructions and run the reg key? It should have been attached to the email you received when you registered for the game card.

I found a neat article about Cable vs. Fibre to Cabinet broadband if anyone is interested in a high-level explanation . For the price you are getting a good deal compared to the prices we pay in the States. We have Xfinity (Comcast) here in Jacksonville, FL and it is pretty expensive for even the basic prices. There is not much in the way of competition unless you wish to go with AT&T FastAccess DSLwhich cannot compare with price or speed of cable.. I am hoping to purchase a new router to take advantage of our internal gigabit connections (and woreless N for those devices supporting) which will better utilize the Motorola Surfboard modem's capabilities as the fast switching ethernet connections are a choke point for data and streaming still stutters a bit even when not fullscreen.

I "googled" about and it landed me here. Lawrence was nice enough to post his working GameEx emulator config for pSX v 1.13 Command=psxfin.exe -f "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" is correct based on this. @Kincaid - If you would be so kind as to load the GameEx Setup Wizard, go to the Emulator Selection Page, Highlight the pSX emulator in the left column and click the Export Emulator button (last button in the center row of buttons) and attach a copy in reply to this thread? Thanks!

Have been working on a few theme ideas but nothing is seeming to gel as I would like. So I started working on software publisher and search category logos. Here are a few. Nothing flashy, but definitely adds to the search experience.

Feature & Enhancement Requests
Draco1962 replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
Tom - As I have started moving forward, I noticed that the Category.txt file will not work as the sub-categories are separated by / (Maze / Outline, Driving / Track, etc.). The system requires the logo file to match the name. I did discover that the default Driving carried through to all the Driving / <sub-category> views. I would like to amend my feature request to pull the year, category, and manufacturer from the Date, Publisher, Category fields in the respective mdbs for the emulators. I am not sure what the feasibility is for this part of the request. It might crawl if searching through all the mdbs for a general search, however, would be negligible if searching within a specific emulator/system unless a "master file" was created and updated from all system mdb files. -
Gives a different meaning to "junk in the trunk," eh?
-
Tom probably realises that I am joking!
-
I just realized... you spelled fiber incorrecly.
-
Woot! I am hoping to get a new router to take advantage of gigabit for our office computers and server and wireless N for those devices that support it. Otherwise still using the ethernet over electric for the Tivo box and smart BD player and TV.

Have you played any games since you created your gamer tag?

You stated that you reinstalled the Shark007 video codecs. For Windows 7 X64 you have to install the Windows x86 codec pack first and the Windows x64 codec pack second. If you uninstalled, you have to uninstal the x64 codec pack first, and the x86 codec pack last. If you did not reinstall or install in that order, please uninstall following the uninstall order and install in the install order.

Happy birthday, Tempest! I wrote you a poem. "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. The only thing older is the earth's crust" (and me) Enjoy your day! Mike

Please provide a copy of your log.txt file immediately following one of the crashes. Thanks!

I use the Daphneloader.exe per the pdf instructions to setup all of my laserdisc games, substituting the paths for the appropriate ROM names for each game. You have to make sure you do the setup via the Daphne loader first for each game and initial game launch outside of GameEx to ensure that each game receives the proper updates and to obtain the options in the command line box referenced. You shouldn't have to worry about re-entering the command lines again if you have entered them properly and save the configurations by next-arrow to the path verification page in the Setup Wizard. I am quoting your MAME question and setting up as a separate thread for answering the question since not really a part of the Daphne questions you had here.

To address fReqEnCy's advice, definitely get used to using the Setup Wizard. As he noted, Advanced Config is no longer supported and new fixes and features are being added to the wizard often thanks to tireless work by our own Headkaze.

Feature & Enhancement Requests
Draco1962 replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
FEATURE/ENHANCEMENT REQUEST: GameEx has the capability to display images that are placed within the \gameex\themes\<themename>\media\logos\database path. These images can correspond to manufacturers, categories, or years search options (I believe these are captioned in the manulist.txt, catlist.txt and yearlist.txt files respectively). My request is three-fold: 1.) Have the path for each (manufacturer, category, year) defined via Setup Wizard so that those using this feature can set-up a their own paths within GameEx outside of the theme in use. 2.) Set an option to where the list is not overwritten when GameEx version updates are installed so that the user may add content accordingly. 3.) Have GameEx search these user-defined paths or the main theme logos path (\gameex\themes\<themename>\media\logos\) to display the Year, Manufacturer, and Category search logos in the menus with a logo file of the user's choice. I was recently reacquainted with this feature that is not oft used and I am presently working on several logo packs to capture each of these search categories for use within a personal theme. (Ok, who am I fooling? I will share!). By operating outside of the theme paths, this will allow for conservation of theme sizes when submitted. -
Good luck! Not sure if I want to try some of those without a joy stick or trackball to slam. Some things just need to stay the same!

I think that there are a few Android MAME emulators, however, since GameEx is dependent upon Windows, .net, etc, not likely to work at this point.
