-
Damn Hans - I think I might have missed this one - did you do a built post? Looks good!
-
Just had a gleg. Thanks, Tom. The code's really well annotated. This one's stored under "I'll be using this one day..."
-
ah!

Errrr, wasn't arguing against your point at all dazzle. Sure your point is fine... I was just trying to help a fella with his setup... Also wasn't suggesting gameex was at fault either...

Ygm?

Awesome. Damn, and I was just planning on getting out more..

Just finished testing the more obscure ones. Some problematic: Far Cry doesn't get past the 'searching for dongle' screen HL2 - runs great but in 720p - i.e. just floats over desktop - can't get to run fullscreen Silent Hill Arcade - won't run above windows 7. Read you can run on a virtual machine, but beyond the scope of this app. Pop n'Music - couldn't get past boot I'l buy you a pint, Draco if you can get any of those buggers working...
-
Doobeedoo... TypeX done. Fullset all working as setup except KOF MIA (don;'t think this works at all) Adding some other systems - Contra, Deathsmiles etc 'tis a long road this one.. oh, I did find some muppet moaning about no bugger having taken on simplifying TypeX setup a few years ago - he's always banging on and moaning that muppet... (just for clarity, I'm referring to myself there!)

Hello chaps, If yer anything like me, yer often sat at the computerizor fiddling around with crap or tryin to get shiznit to work. Additionally, recently, I wanted to be able to talk candidly to my fellow retro gaming enthusiasts without fear of my messages being intercepted by aliens or the Queen. This led me to set up a chat server on my home server (on 24/7). It's done via a server called OpenFire, which uses XMPP/Jabber. This mean that all messages are encoded end to end and as it sits on my server, there's no data left 'knocking around' on any third party server in Buckingham Palace. I don't keep any logs of the chat. It works just like the old Windows Messenger, thus there's the added bonus of even keeping our chat client strictly retro! (Read XP + 'the naughties') Some features: Offline messages File transfers Guest logins + members only rooms Some pics of its retro goodness: Setup: Download Spark from: https://igniterealtime.org/downloads/index.jsp Then Click on "Advanced" and setup as below: To Create an account: To log into an account: And that's it! I actually prefer it to web-based chat as it just sits neatly on your desktop or in your tray, notifying you of messages etc... Oh, or you can use a phone based app such as IM+: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.shapeservices.impluslite&hl=en_GB Why not sign up? Even if just to loiter about! Send me a message just to check in!

If you're setting up from scratch, you could always use Gemvoy (plugin in the downloads section). It was designed to take the guesswork out of setups. Whilst it may take a bit of learning to start, once done, emu setup is simple. It also deals with any unzip/mounting/per game settings problems.

Nice burp at the start of your video...

Only cautionary note would be if you set up daemon tools at all, some bright spark over there a couple of years ago decided to change all the command line operations..... Still works though, just gotta accommodate the new switches etc..

@hansolo77 - hah! That took me back. Likewise, I got my first PC back in 2001 + my first adventures were in dremaweaver! Is that stuff still for sale, btw!? Iomega drives! I remember getting one of those and burning my first DVD

As an example of just how infuriating this pursuit is: I've just spent 90 minutes baffled. Tried a million and one things to try and get a previously working installation booting. I creaed virtual drives, changed execution permissions.. you name it. Then I copied the entire contents of the working directory to another directory - ran from there + it didn't work!! Random inspiration led me to change the root folder name for the game. Bizarrely this solved it! Process of elimintaion led to discovering that you can't have 'special' characters in the root directory name. I.e.: King of Fighters XIII [Taito Type X²] breaks it! (the squared char) That's how obscure this bloody job is! I will not be beaten.

Already ahead of ya buddy, just a bit down the line.. Aside from the issues you let me know about, did the update process work OK? I.e. it downloaded and updated itself OK?
-
Are you asking if there could be facility to set the controls once and these are disseminated to all the other game folders? if so, already on the dev list! And it's possible.
-
OK. Do me a favour and let's try out the update function. Click Setting>Update and hopefully it should pick it up. Could you feed back on how that went. Then, just to be sure, download + install fresh from: http://bit.ly/typextra let me know how you get on. (wtf has happened to formatting?)

I use siteground. Cheap, flexible and easy. She may benefit from using WordPress

NO worries - before you do - let me package up the new release. It has the getting started guide that will guide approaching setting things up. Damn, that's a failure of design! Hopefully the new release should bring it back on spec.
-
Does it make kebabs?
-
Hey - they kept their look well..

It should have been installed by TypeXtra. Whenever you add a new game folder (or after you've done the auto-identify process) you should click the button below to install support files. That's what gets it working. It would install launch.bat in both of the game folders for KOF. The button: Make sure you're keeping a vanilla set of your games alongside the working set. I'll do another release soon to make sure working from the same system.
