  1. Not quite correct. 21 may make a difference. 20, should make no difference whatsoever. 22 will actually slow down GameEx, but is a good setting used in conjuction with 21. On machines that overheat 21 and 22 are good options. I dont believe this should be added to the pinned topic, but thanks.

No its not actually. It causes GameEx not to run. Dont install it! I am working on the problem.
  3. Anyone else? I'm getting tempted.
  4. Hi, there's no current way of doing this, but it's a cool feature request, and I'm moving this post to the Feature request topic. Anyone else keen on this kind of functionality?

  6. Thanks for checking it out wrench, and reporting the issue. Ill look into it, but I am glad the Undo is working as it should. I think that feature alone makes it a cool app. Ill get it fixed.
  7. Do you mean navigate back? Have you pressed backspace, space, or right mouse???? Not really sure what your talking about otherwise?
  8. I will be upgrading GameEx to 2.0 in the future. At the moment though theres an issue and GameEx wont run if 2.0 final is installed. I am working on it.
  9. Please supply some sample German feeds for me to test. Thanks.
  10. I agree. I like them all. I take it by the second suggestion, your referring to when exiting GameEx and loading again?
  11. Thanks for all the contributions Headkaze. Should be useful to a lot of folks. Cheers, Tom
  12. 1 is valid. GameEx does not use version 2.0 even if its installed, it will only use version 1.0 or version 1.1 .Net programs only run on the framework they were designed for so please download and install 1.1 2 In control panel in windows theres a program for administrating .net framework applications. It might be under Admin tools. Open that up and somewhere theres an option to repair a program. 3 Sorry you might have to. Nope it does not use framework 2.0 at all whether its installed or not. It will only use 1.0 or 1.1. So if you have not installed 1.1 then GameEx is running off 1.0.
  13. 5th November 2005 - Version 0.25 -Features complete undo, After settings set, just launch the program again to undo. -Fixes - Sound not disabled on some systems. -Sets Desktop background to black Download it here: http://tomspeirs.com/gameex/download/instantsheller.zip [From the GameEx site] In addition to the guide above I have developed a small application that automates nearly all the process called ItnstantSheller. It allows you to one click shell GameEx or any other front end. It does everything in the guide below automatically apart from change the boot screen and the mouse cursor does show temporarily when windows logs in. Its for Windows XP Only, and requires the .net framework 1.1. It now also features a one click 'Undo'
  14. 4th November 2005 - GameEx 5.16 New option in the install to place GameEx directly to the MCE Start menu as 'My Games' Fixed flickering when manually navigating through slide shows. 2nd November 2005 - Personal update I have left my long term employer for the last 12 years to set up my own company, mainly focusing on software development. If you would like to hire me for application or web development work please see my company site at www.spesoft.com
  15. Hi, This comes up once in a while. I only have three suggestions. 1. Remove version 2.0 of the framework and install 1.1 2. If this does not work try to repair the application using the framework tools in control panel (1.1) 3. Only other known solution, is to rebuild the PC and try again. Thanks. Tom.
  16. I've narrowed it down to the .lib file I am using (included with libmng) that links to libmng.dll Its not going to be quick or easy to fix. Only possible solution I can think of for the moment is to catch the exceptions for MNG, let GameEx still run but without MNG support if using 2.0 final.
  17. Yep, that's how it is. Ive spent a couple more hours researching and trying various stuff, but can't fix it. Cant find any reports on anyone else having a similar issue. The exception stack trace does not show anything. For now I am at a loss. It has to be to do with the MNG dll usage, but dont know whether its a bug in .net, or what. I think it has to be something like that, or something that it installs that has stricter requirements for unmanaged code.
  18. Sorry, but your'll keep waiting, unless you provide useful posts that actually allow people to help.
  19. A little more help. MCE 2005 comes with version 1.0 of the .net framework. You may need to install 1.1 Version 2.0 is still a Beta and has all the usual bugs Beta software normally has. I recommend, that unless your a software developer and you need it for software development people really shouldn't install it at all. GameEx wont and does not use version 2.0 anyway, it will only use 1.1, or 1.0 if 1.1 is not installed. E.g If 1.0 or 1.1 are not installed at all, even if version 2 is - GameEx wont run.
  20. See this thread: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=635 What we inconclusively determined in the above mentioned thread is that this issue can be caused by a certain .Net Framework 2.0 beta version. Installing the latest version of .NET framework 2 may help but it may also be being caused by something else which we haven't determined yet, as this does not fix the issue on Windows Server 2003. Should work fine for XP though. Let us know how you get on. Cheers. Tom
  21. Yeah I am pretty sure it is. It was a fix to a big cock up on my part. Should fix all issues with updating the game list from users who know what there doing. People were trying to tell me about it like yourself I know, but should be good now.
  22. Its not possible to filter by genre, manufacutrer etc as this information is only available for MAME. Withtthe latest version of GameEx you can simply remove ROM's and add them to a filter list by pressing the delete key. The other method is to use a wildcard string in the filter roms setting eg *(U).zip Is that ok for you?
  23. Thanks EMKO, that's good news. Can anyone confirm the same results?
  24. 31st October 2005 - GameEx 5.15 Fixes issue where the only existing ROMS setting was always enabled when updating the game list. This meant that the list would always only include games where the specified ROM name, clone or parent physically existed on your disk. Therefore you could only get a complete MAME game list if you had every single rom split for both clone and parent. It also meant that if your roms were all merged sets you might not see clones. With this fix it is now possible to get a complete MAME game list if you have no roms at all.

If you want to remove games, just select the game in GameEx itself and hit the delete key. Note: this does not delete the actual rom. If the delete key dont work your not using the latest version of GameEx. Go get it.
