  1. The way I see it, you have four options. 1. Buy a faster PC. 2. Go try another front end. 3. Dont run MNG videos (try AVI). MNG videos need a really fast PC. 4. Or try and be a lot more descriptive and explain what is exactly slow, such as contol responsivness, screen updates, loading games, playing videos. Also post your config. If you choose 4 I might be able to help. Yourll get nothing back otherwise. Thanks.
  2. Rather than get technical and explain what GameEx does to create favorites, why dont you just add your favorites via the front end?? It will be quicker that way anyway surely?? I may add another menu button on the left of the favorites list which will be 'View by System' this should satisfy your feature request hopefully. Otherwise just setup your emulator configs just to contain your favorites. Or setup new emu configs just with favorites.
  3. Hi, this is fixed in the latest version just released. Thanks. Tom
  4. 26th April 2005 - GameEx 3.61 - Two much asked for features Two much asked for features have now been implemented. I listen! There is now a global favourites list across MAME all emulators and daphne. For users who shell into GameEx or lock their cabs down because of children. There is now a special service mode that unlocks the ability to exit, shut down, update list, create snaps and show game info. To enter service mode do the following: Keep navigating back to until the buffer is cleared. Go to the start page. Then do these controls in order. BACK PAGE UP PAGE DOWN LEFT UP VOLUME UP To lock again and end service mode follow the same procedure. This version also fixes the problem when the latest version did not work when initial Playlist was set to load on a thread and the new setting to not play Jukebox at startup was left it at its default from 3.60 Just to let you know, I am working at getting Robs themes back on line, and am also hoping to get the MAME mng videos back somehow.
  5. Hi David, Did you try contacting emu-france. Should I try? I AM keen to get these available. GameEx is awesome using the MNG videos. Really awesome! I can assure you that you and others are really missing out on this. I could mail you a DVD with what I have, what do you think?
  6. Hi, This will be possible soon, as there will be options to run a an app on starting an emulator game and exiting, similar to MAME has already. Then you can just call a batch that ends the process of JoyToKey (not difficult). Youd have to capture or reencode your movies as AVI files, it can be done. Yourll have to do some research on that though, although anyone else feel free to offer help. Thanks
  7. Hi, If you can show the value and provide detail on exactly what this should do and the beneift, I'll certainly at least consider implementing it myself. Thanks
  8. Can you replace Gameex.exe with the one in the attached zip and post the end of the log. Thanks. Tom GameEx.zip
  9. There installed in the Default - Default them directory with 3.60
  10. Its been moved to the news page
  11. Hey bprell, Do you think you could test your stations? GameEx should support both Winamp and windows media based stations, although I've only been able to test it with a few stations. Thanks.
  12. Hey Surgeville, Thanks for reporting, ill get it fixed for the next version. Tom
  13. http://tomspeirs.com/gameex http://tomspeirs.com/gameex/news.htm Feedback?
  14. Windows Explorer search is a good tool if used properly. For example if you search snes ROMS for *[J]*.* that will list all roms with [J] in the filename. Then you can cut and paste those to a new directory. Use the same technique for other roms, until youve got your primary roms dir down, then you can manually go in and move other roms you dont want to another dir. There are free programs around that do this for MAME, yourll just have to have a look around, unless some others know. You can also use search again though for finding files based on size, and then move them off to another dir.
  15. Hi, It does not sound like a GameEx issue, but rather MAME. The way to be sure is to run the Run Last Game setting from the Program group. If it is a MAME issue, your best port of call for help is either to email Andy & ultimarc directly. You are entitled to support I would think. Or use the appropriate forum at mameworld.info.
  16. Hi, I do plan to implement folders for Emulators by the way. I like this idea, and I have most of the code already. Also currently the Alpha paging can not be used with an MCE remote.
  17. Try running GameEx at a different resolution to your desktop, or vice versa. As I've said Ive seen this when GameEx is running at the same res as the desktop. Ive not seen it affect emulators though, although it may be because your outputting to TV that's causing that. I take it also youve tried the latest drivers for your card/system? You could also see if your Geforce drivers allow you to create another resolution.
  18. I am afraid at least for the moment, I am of the 'buy a bigger hard disk' mind set. The project focus is on functionality, features, being the best and most of all fun, rather than cost per MB. Thanks, Tom
  19. Hi all, I have decided to keep GameEx free for non commerical use even including the forthcoming premium enhancments. This is too much of an enjoyable hobby for me to try and make commercial, and it will be a real kick to rock the boat and give the other htpc non free software out there a run for there money I am still not keen on making it open source just at the moment though but who knows. You will see i've made the donations a bit more obvious on the home page, as it would be nice to cover some of my costs. Although this is a hobby, and every penny Ive spent has been worth it. Thanks. Tom
  20. Hi, To save you fatigue, I would say that give up on trying to make GameEx bypass the info screens in PacMAME. The only succesfully way to do this in modern versions of MAME (and believe me I have tried even though its somewhat unethical) is to get the source code, change it, and compile it yourself. There are resources around to help with this. No easy task I am afraid, you may find some kind souls elsewhere who will help you though if you wanted to spend the effort on it.
  21. Hi EMKO, I would not say never, but its certainly not planned at the moment or anytime soon.
  22. Must have been temporary as its up now and they posted news today so it is active. http://www.emu-france.com

  24. Can you try contacting Emu-France and others if necessary about this please? I dont have the latest version anyway by the looks of it.

Actually when playing a MAME game because MAME uses some of the same keys, and gets a full lock on the joystick, you will need a keyboard or remote that inludes skip and previous track buttons. A, S and the gamepad wont skip songs when actually playing a MAME game.
