  1. From what you've wrote I am not entirely sure exactly the problem your having. I dont find it easy to understand your posts. Could you please try explaining a little better and please differentiate between emus launching such as SNES and also MAME launching games.
  2. Glad you got it figured out. Feel free to ask here if you need anymore help. Tom.
  3. From what I hear the protection on it is ground breaking?
  4. What version of GameEx are you running? Try the latest version. Does this problem resolve after about 20 seconds. Try tuning off the bypass MAME Warning/Disclaimer settings. See if that helps Cheers. Tom
  5. Have you tried waiting about 10-15 seconds, rather than pressing 1? The desktop issue is fixed in the latest release.
  6. Have you looked at playing these through the videos module? It has a couple of handy features for playing music videos - Play All and Play Randomly. Should suite your daughter well. If you need help setting it up just let us know.
  7. Nothing clever just a bit of wildcard matching. Its mainly designed for 'Good Tools' named roms, and the emumovies videos.
  8. On my Cab, I set the Background option to show in program images rather then use a theme background. I'd recommend doing this to anyone running an ArcadeVGA at 640X288 or 640X264. It then shows the icons, snaps, artwork and video previews as the background image. Much better for low res in my opinion, and it was specifically designed for this purpose. I think the GameLauncher theme is already setup to do that, so try that theme. Or go into the Config. Select Display Settings, Change Background mode to use Game Images.
  9. What's displaying on the screen at that point?
  10. 6th December 2005 - GameEx 5.25 Fix: Desktop now restores correctly after early exit. Configuration application can be viewed in a window and resized. The log shows all installed .net framework versions. New setting to find snap/video/artwork for emulators on a nearest match basis. The setting is enabled by default and its under tweaks/performance.
  11. No you should not need to uninstall it.
  12. Just to let you folks know, I've removed the download from the site. I've decided to hold off on the .net 2.00 stuff for the moment. I've proved GameEx works and compiles with it (after making a few changes), and that's enough for me for now. If you already have the Beta installed, please still post your findings, but use the normal upgrade path in the future. There should be no issues installing the regular version over the top of it.
  13. Dont know, use the regular build. I've removed the Beta from the GameEx site. I've decided to hold off on the .net v2.00 stuff for the moment, due to lack of time.
  14. Hi, it was supposed to be already doing that, but thanks for pointing it out, I am using the wrong source code. It will do it in the next release. Thanks.
  15. 4th December 2005 - GameEx 6.00 Beta This is GameEx compiled with Visual Studio 2005. .net framework 2.0. It should be trouble free, but I don't plan to upgrade the main project yet so if you want to check it out please do, and report your experiences on the forum. Performance and memory usage seem a fair bit better to me, but I've really only tested that it works. Please provide feedback on this version. It does contain two enhancements which will be included in the regular build (5.25) shortly. The log shows all installed .net framework versions. New setting to find snap/video/artwork for emulators on a nearest match basis. The setting is enabled by default and its under tweaks/performance.
  16. When using Exlorer as the shell it loads items set to 'run' in the registry. Download Startup Control Panel by Mike Linn: http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml Make a batch file with the programs that are set to start with windows based on what that finds. Then set the batch file to run when GameEx starts up. That should do it.
  17. I dont agree that I threw it together, its pretty substantial actually. As far as I know even windows Media Center does not allow you to see the playlist. It just works a little differently from a fully functional media player, but it has to work with just arcade controls, a remote or joystick. It really is supposed to be a jukebox and not a media player. Its designed to play albums and all songs by artists, or genres, not just the odd track now and then. You cant see the playlist, although you can clear the playlist. When the playlist is cleared the first track you select is played, anything after that is queued. Its deigned for adults, low maintenance, and background music, not for having a good session when your in the mood. As I said its a jukebox, not a media player. Perhaps I need to write a seperate Media Player, thats how Meedio works. Cheers.
  18. The black line you refer to is actually part of the image. if the black line or the edge around the image is removed it wont happen. If the images are in vector format then as long as no aliasing or smooting is used when saving them as PNG's then it will be fine. Also if you want black to show in the images then make the colour a near black, like 254,254,254. Of course the other alternative is to box them with a background color. If this method is used I suggest making the corners of the image circular, like I've done with the logo for daphne games. Feel free to send me any files at my first [email protected]
  19. I'm deffinitly interested. If you can get me the logos Ill do it for certain, and include them in the GameEx install for all.
  20. Is daphne completly hung, no sound at all. If you exit GameEx and restart, works? Is gameex set to load on startup on your machine? Sounds like windows may not be initialising certain stuff in time. Are you using any special audio or video software or tray apps? Have you changed any windows services?
  21. It does sound like it might be a hardware issue. You can try the following to help narrow down though, if it is a GameEx issue. In the config app, under advanced settings, for history.dat and mameinfo.dat just delete the paths for those two settings, that way GameEx wont use them when updating the list. You could also try deleting the files from the GameEx\data directory and reinstalling just in case those files got corrupted. The files may be a couple of versions old, but as far as I know they work for everyone else.
  22. Yep that would be a crash, but you said the speakers made a sound, and then it crashed. It's kind of hard to help when people dont explain things to well. I, and nobody else on this forum can help you based on the information you gave. I know this, because I don't know the problem, its not been reported, and I wrote the thing! Any more info you provide, would certainly help.
  23. Which version of MAME are you using?
  24. As I said, please explain how it crashes. With a 533MHZ CPU for all MAME games the gamelist could take upwards of 45 minutes to update, and it does not always show progress. It sounds like its not crashing, your just not waiting long enough.
  25. Please explain in much more detail - "then the speakers buzz for a seconf and everything crashes " This sounds like an issue with your hardware by the look of it. Also have you any screensavers or powersaving turned on that could affect this. Is your PC stable, ie is it overheating?
