  1. Why don't you (or some others) code one? I am taking care of the font sizing, will be much better in next release.
  2. Very strange about the start page. Not seen that before. Post your gameex.ini and Ill take a look. Love the theme by the way. If you wanted to share it Ill include it in the GameEx install. Your choice though.
  3. On a system with that low spec and running XP, be sure to disable all unnecesary services such as themes, print spooler, fast user switching, error reporting, and secondary login etc. Also make sure you have no extra tray icons loading at start up with "Startup Control Panel". Once you do all that, GameEx "should" hopefully run full speed.
  4. These dont seem like issues with 5.26 in particular. Please be a little careful when posting results about a specific verions. Although I could be wrong. It sounds like you setup GameEx in MCE MAME mode possibly? I'm not sure why favorites and exit are missing. Are you sure there enabled now? Maybe you changed your resolution and you need to scroll down. MCE Mode turns on flat menus. I am pretty sure that's what you've done. Was windowed mode working before this verions. What resolution are you running at. Windowed mode will automatically go to full screen if running at a low resolution. As I said I doubt anything to do with 5.26 in particular, sounds like you selected MCE MAME mode in the setup.
  5. Yes, I'm sorry, but I think your hardware would probably cut it with GameEx. I know others run systems with a spec like that, and say GameEx runs fine. I think your main problem is the version of Windows your using. I have seen issues like this pre windows 2000 with GameEx, when I do my regression testing and I try to make it compatible, but just about all software these days runs much better on 2k or XP. Honestly! If you can beg, borrow or steal a copy of Windows 2000, I think youd be OK actually.
  6. Thanks Emph. That's part of the reason too. Although now I am working for myself I need to get some more work coming in. I know quite a few of the people who donate work for companies and have some purchasing power, so remember, if your low on resources, and want to outsource some work or get that niche project done sooner rather than later then consider me as someone you know will deliver rapidly with high quality. I am extremely results based, and specialise in rapid application and web development. I am used to working with small companies and corporates in the States as well as Europe. That's the ad break.
  7. Wow, you people are keeping me busy. Just to let you know, I plan to be taking a slower approach to GameEx over the next month. I have some real work to do
  8. By the look of it, your hardware and software may not be up to the job. Looks like your running windows 98/me with a 5-6 year old graphics card. I cant offer much advise other than to say upgrade to windows 2000 or XP. Its hard for me to test windows 98 and ME here, so I may have even changed something in GameEx that makes it not work with those OS's anymore. Sorry, Tom.
  9. What makes you think that? Was it working previously? Are you sure its not just your confg? ALL - Please post seperate specific details about whats not working. 'GameEx wont launch games' is really not helpfull. Ask about specific emulators or problems. All GameEx does is launch these extrenal programs. It requires a fair amount of config to get it to work properly.
  10. Sparkles, Could you please tell me the exact setting your talking about? If its a bug I need to fix it, but I think this is an issue with your setup, not affecting anyone else. Nothing has changed in respect to that in many versions.
  11. Can you take a look and also post runitgame.bat in program files\gameex\data. This is what GameEs runs to launch a game. See if it runs on its own outside of GameEx. Also try removing -triplebuffer from the cmd line. You could also try deleting your MAME directory and starting again. There may be some settings that are messing it up. A few of us have had this before. Tom.
  12. You need to unzip them
  13. I'm pretty sure MAME32Plus works fine. Might be a silly question, but have you seleced 'Update List' in GameEx. This needs to be done before any roms show. It can take upto 25 mins to run. ??
  14. Sorry, no.
  15. Thanks for perservering guys. It seems to me that the DVD player only works properly with very high end graphics cards. Quality seems to be very good though if you have one. What cards are you using?
  16. As I said, actually sounds like its working as it should. These issues are caused by your arcade monitor. Sounds like you need to find the 'sweet' spot for the controls with it. This is normal. We all normally have to do that. If you use the QuickRes tool included with the ArcadeVGA drivers, you can use this to test all resolutions while at the desktop. You can also try using UlraVNC so you can view the monitor on another PC, if it loses Sync. Unfortunatly this is what we all I have to do with old monitors as I said. Its par for the course. Also to get less stretching in GameEx try running it at at 640X264. You can of course run it at 640X480 (Interlaced/Flickering).
  17. I am not sure what's going on here. The Config does not store defaults. Do you just mean settings are not saving? Ill need a lot more info on your config and setup there to try and troubleshoot this. Edit: Please post your log also.
  18. Actually sounds like its working to me. These are just monitor issues by the sound of it. You can try running GameEx at 640X264 see if that's better. Are the games flickering when in the center of the screen. If not sounds like it might just be your monitor controls. Check ou the ultimarc site of Mameworld forums for more help with your monitor: http://www.ultimarc.com http://www.mameworld.info
  19. First forget about my ArcadeVGA tool it was an old project, and GameEx has built in support for ArcadeVGA cards that does away with the need for my tool, Gavin's or MinWahs (although some people stilll prefer to use them instead, even though theres normally no need). Second remove Arcade Mode in GameEx from your head, this has nothing to do with ArcadeVGA cards or Arcade monitors exactly, it simply means whats shown on the screen is shrunk a little for use at lower resolutions. Thirdly the whole point of using an ArcadeVGA is that you dont need to run the games stretched as it has built in resolutions that match most games almost exactly. Combined with a low res arcade monitor makes them look just like the originals. 1. Turn off the stretching etc in MAME. Thats normal MAME. AdvanceMAME is designed for people that DONT have an ArcadeVGA card. 2. Set GameEx to run at the resolution of 640 X 288 (Anything below 640 X 480 will run in ArcadeMode automatically. it has to, to fit everything on the low res screen.) 3. Go into the ArcadeVGA settings in config and simply turn it ON. That should suffice for 99% of ArcadeVGA users. If not, post and I'll help
  20. Sorry, I really have no idea on this. It seems you obviously have issues with your Windows install, windows config, drivers or hardware. I don't think its a gameex issue or bug, its not been reported before either. My advice, although this is only advise, and if you must use GameEx on this system is to rebuild the os and software on it. Cant offer anything better I am afraid. Tom.
  21. Please post your log when it works then.
  22. Try this. Go into the configuration. Select Advanced MAME settings. Fin the MAME options setting. Delete -triplebuffer from the field, save and see if that's any better. To get GameEx in a window, click the Window ICON at the top right. Or select to open windowed under display settings in the configuration app. Let us know.
  23. This should not be a problem now anyway in the latest release, the desktop is now restored if GameEx exits with an error, and unhandled exceptions in GameEx are extremely rare. Startup, and the entire main loop is trapped (unconventional I know). Of course the Hide Desktop setting can be turned off to.
  24. Also, can you try running GameEx in a window and then launching the game. Any better?
  25. Please post your GameEx log. Which version of MAME are you running. What Video card do you have?
