I would clone the old drive if I was you. Most new drives will have software that makes the cloning very simple. I believe the USB max transfer speed is 480 Mbit/s, while the SATA interface will allow at least 1.5 Gb/s on an older motherboard, and 3 Gb/s on any fairly recent board.
I can't seem to get any type of controller to work with the newest version of nulldc (1.0.3). I have tried using all the plugins with my keyboard, game pads and IPAC, and they mostly config ok. I have also tried using joytokey, but no luck there either. The emu seems to run fine, inside and outside of GameEx, but in either I can't get by the date entry from the bios when the game starts up. Does anyone have any ideas?
Ok, just updated to regular mame 130u2 (compiled with hscore.diff) and both games still work perfectly. I also tried them with Mameuifx 130u2 and they both work fine there too. Maybe it is a mame plus issue, or there is something wrong with your roms and/or the neogeo bios you are using.
Hey chriss, I have both games working fine with standard version mame .130 (source from mamedev.org). I am using the roms from the .130 set. I compiled it with the nag screens removed and highscores (hiscore.dff from arcadecontrols). Both games run perfectly fine for me inside GameEx. I am going to be updating to .130u2 in a few days, I will let you know how I make out when I do.
Hey Chriss, Both games work perfectly fine for me. I am using regular Mame .130 compiled using HeadKaze's compiler with highscore and nag screens removed. I have not added the diff's from .130u1 or .130u2 yet.
Hi, thanks for your reply. Well, the "emulator" is Mame, I think. I do not have these set up as separate emulators, they are set in GameEx options to run off the Mame list with the Zinc, Daphne or Model2 emulator, instead of mame. The other emulators in my favorites (Vpinball, MagicEngine, SSF, etc.) all work fine. It is just the Daphne, Zinc and Model2 games that never show up in the attract/screensaver. I have no idea how I would set them to "use in screen saver".
I have the attract/screensaver set to use mame and other emulators using my favorites. I have noticed that Daphne, Zinc and Model2 games never come up in the game cycle. I have all three systems intergrated with mame using the GameEx config. Is it possible to have these games also show up in the attract/screensaver?
Yeah, you are right, but I like how it works integrated in GameEx. Now my problem is getting my new version of mame to work without nags, messages and high score support. I've done everything correctly as far as I can tell, but it isn't working.
I am trying to compile MAME (32bit) version 130 using the 129.diff (no 130 diff available, says to use for 130), and while mame compiles fine, the nag and loading screens are still there. Also, high score support is not workings. I downloaded the source from mame dev.org (mame0130s) and the diff from arcadecontrols. I set up and ran Headkaze's compiler (selecting my processor and dual core), and it worked fine, but after recompiling 5 times I still am getting nags, loading messages, problems (galaga, etc) and no high score support. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I figured it out, and it was exactly what I thought it was. When I updated MAME to version 130, all the Model2 games showed up fine. I really didn't want to update MAME, it would be nice if the Model2 emulator use within GameEx would just go by if the rom is there or not, not by it's status in MAME. Thank you everyone for your help!
Hi, thanks for replying. Yes, they are in there. But it seems like since I have version 123 of MAME (over 1 year old), I need to put the older model2 roms in my MAME rom directory, and the correct newer model2 roms in my 2nd rom folder for model2 (both are listed in the model2 ini file). For example, if I put the most recent vf2 rom in my mame directory, vf2 will not show up on the GameEx model2 list. When I put the older rom in the MAME directory, GameEx lists the rom. When I play the game, it uses the correct newer rom from my model2 directory. For some reason the 3 games I listed above never show up on the GameEx list, regardless of which version rom I am using in the directories.
I have 28 on my list, but I do not use the clones or alternate versions. The 3 games that I cannot get on the list are: Rail Chase 2 (rchase2) Sega Water Ski (segawski) Wave Runner (waverunr) I am using a complied (HeadKaze) version of MAME .123
Hey Chriss, I did search, found a lot of Model2 stuff, but not what I was looking for. My question to Tom is if you select to use the Model2 emu within MAME (like Zinc) to have the model2 list go by if the rom is present or not, not by it's status in MAME if possible. I believe the games showing on the list currently is dependent on the ROM matched with the MAME set, not the Model2 set.
Hi Tom, I am having a problem with the Model2 game list. I have the most recent version of GameEX and I am using the most recent version of the Model2 emu (0.9). When I update the game list there are always a few games missing, and I am wondering if the list is generated from MAME information. For example, I am using a complied version of MAME (.123) and when I put the newest ROM for Virtua Fighter 2 into my ROM folder, it is not picked up on the list. But when I put in an older version of the same ROM in the folder it does appear on the list. Is there a way to add games manually to the model2 list, or a way it can list the game if any ROM with the correct name is present? Besides people having an older versions of MAME, a few of the current Model2 games ROMs do not match the current MAME set, so matching by ROM name would be a good thing if it was possible. Thanks!
Hi, thanks for replying. Blitz at full speed would be very good, and legends playable is even better. I assume yours is over-clocked, do you know what CPU number its is? (8400, 9400, Extreme, etc) ? Thanks!
I am going to upgrade my Cab's Computer and I would like some suggestions if anyone has an opinion. I currently have a P4 3.0ghz. This system runs most games in MAME and most emulators fine, but really slows down to a crawl with most MAME CHD games. Can anyone give me an idea how much better performance I can get out of a Core2duo/Quad, 64bit System or a i7 with CHD games? Thanks!
Hi, thanks for much for replying! I was hoping someone else had tried the new version of the emu with the same type of cab. That is the exact same problem I have been having, all black and whites games, and mine crashes to when you attempt full screen. I did hear back from ultimarc, and Andy said he believes that the AGP card does not support ps 2.0. He did say that the PCIe should support it. Thank you very much with that program, I will download it and try it out and report back. Thanks again! EDIT I just finished testing this software and it works, there is now color! The problems are that it slows down my P4 3.0ghz to an unplayable speed, and the color quality is is not the best. The emu runs full speed on my system without running this program (it is actually just 2 dll files and a config.ini file), but with the program the game speed is way too slow. Thanks again for your reply zx12rcarl, I really appreciate it!
I hope someone can help me with this. I have a P4 3.0ghz computer with an Arcade VGA2 Agp in my cabinet. The most recent release of the Model 2 Emulator (0.9) now requires a video card that supports pixel shader 2.0. When I run VF2 for example, everything is black and white and the emu crashes when I try to run in full screen. As far as I can tell the AGP version of the ArcadeVGA 2 is based on the ATI 9250 chipset, which I think does not support pixel shader 2.0 (I have not received an email reply from Ultimarc yet). Has anyone else with this type of config tried running the new version of Model2? My Computer in my Cab does not have a PCIe slot, so buying an ArcadeVGA2 PCIe (which appears to support pixel shader 2.0) would not be an option. Thanks!
Or..... Mount the ISO/mp3's (daemon tools, etc) and use something like nero to create a complete image of the game. This works perfect for me and avoids having tons of folders or having to rename a ton of mp3/wav files.
Thanks for your fast reply. I really do not want to remap the IPAC keys since everything in MAME and all the other emulators works perfectly. Can you point me in the right direction for information on how to set up a AHK script to remap the keys? Thanks!
