I used to use WinXp with the ArcadeVGA 2 card just like you did. I wanted to upgrade to Win7 to get a current OS, and figured I would take advantage of my Core2duo processor (8500) and go 64bit, and get the newest ArcadeVGA card. While most Emulators ran fine (I compiled my own version of MAME64), I did run into problems with the newest Model 2 emulator, Demul and a few other console emulators. I was able to correct all the problems eventually. I had to download and install directx9 and 10 and update them. Then I had to install Visual Studio 2010, Visual Basic and Visual C++, and update those. I did need to install all the additional net frameworks and service packs up to version 4 and its updates. The speed increase in the Mame CHD games is pretty significant, Gauntlet Legends is playable (although not perfect). The only emulator that I still seem to have a problem with is Dolphin. Even though my processor is overclocked quite a bit, that emulator still runs like a dog with the ArcadeVGA 3000. From what I have read on other forums, the newer ATI drivers speed things up a lot, but since Ultimarc hasn't released any updated drivers, I guess this isn't an option. I do know the emulator runs full speed on my main comp, which has an Nvidia card. Since I also like to play console games on my TV, what I did was run a DVI cable from my cab to my TV from the DVI connector on the ArcadeVGA 3000 card. I also ran some audio cables to the TV. That way I can switch between the TV or the cab for either Arcade games or Console games. I tried using wireless controllers, but could not find any that worked decently. So I got 2 USB Sega Saturn controllers and some long extension cables, and I use those for TV console gaming. Hope some of this info helps, good luck to you!

I have the same card and had no problems installing the drivers in a fresh install of Win 7 64 bit. Quickres also works fine with my setup (ArcadeVGA 3000 & the same Betson Trisync monitor). I have had trouble with various emulators, make sure you download and install the most recent version of directx9 and directx10 in addition to updating DX11, net framework, Visual Basic/Studio, etc.

Hey Stu, thanks for your reply! Yes, I am using the newest ArcadeVGA 3000 card. My Betson TriSync can run in 800x600, but I prefer to have my cab running in 640x480. I just tested SSF (.10, .11 and .12 series) on another computer running an Nvidia Card (GTS 250), and the same thing happens when I try to run SSF while the screen resolution is set to 640x480. The program starts up in the upper left corner in a small window, then crashes. If I change to 800x600, everything works fine. I've searched the internet some, and I've found other people posting the same problem, but no solutions.

Hi Everyone, This problem has nothing to do with GameEx, since it happens if run outside of GameEx also. I am posting here to see if anyone else has this problem, and hopefully a solution if there is one. I cannot get any current version of SSF (above vers .09) to run unless my screen resolution is set at 800x600. While my cab has a trisync monitor that can be set at that resolution, I prefer 640x480. I have tried every possible setting and option in SSF, and nothing works. The emulator starts up, then just crashes. If I use an earlier version of SSF, everything runs fine. I find all of this strange since SSF only runs in a fixed 640x480 resolution. I have searched online for any solutions or settings, and have only so far found other people with the same problem on different forums. If anyone has any other information or a fix for ths, it would be greatly appreciated.

The current release 11.62 still has this problem, so I assume Tom will fix it in the next release.

Thanks Tom!

Thanks! Hopefully Tom can take a look at this and we can get a solution.

I actually selled out the cash for a NeoGeo CDZ console from Japan. The CD drive was twice as fast, and that really made a huge difference. That and my Dreamcast are the only 2 old consoles that still get any use.

I am having the same problem. I've posted about this in another thread, and uploaded the 3 files Tom requested. We just need to wait until he has time to look at this issue and get back to us.

Hi Tom, I've just updated to the newest version of GameEx, but I am still having the same favorties list problem. This problem occurs when I try to add a Demul game. Although it says that the game is added to the favorites list, the game never appears on the list. But the strange thing is when the screen saver is running, the Demul games that are not showing on the favorites list, do run in the screen saver. Also on a side note, it seems that Zinc, Model2 and Daphne games never run in the screen saver (they are listed in favorites). Attached are the 3 files you requested previously. Thanks! 3 files.rar

To get correct proper names in your list you need to use the Map file for Atomiswave. If you are using the config program, go into the config for the emulator and select the map file listed below: MAPFile=C:\GameEx\MAP FILES\DEMUL 0.5.6 (Atomiswave).map If you do not have that map file, you can download it from Frequency's submissions and place it into the MAP FILES directory in your GameEx installation. The files are located in this post: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=3&st=20

I don't use the " " in my config (listed above), and it works fine for me.

I don't see one Brian, thats why I use WaitBeforeKeys=6000 SendKeys=%{ENTER} in the GameEx config

You do not really need a wrapper for newest version of Demul since it can now be run from the command line. Here is my working GameEx config for Atomiswave games that runs them full screen. If you would like the Naomi config also, just let me know. Thanks, I was not aware of this. GameEx.rar log.rar data.rar

I cant seem to post any of these files. Everytime I get a "post too long" message. When I try to upload any of these 3 files, I get a message " you are not permitted to upload files of this type". What should I do??

Thanks Frequency, Ive tested it multiple times with different configs, and nothing seems to work.

I cannot seem to add some "emulated" games to my favorites list. I have the newest version of Demul set up as 2 separate emulators (Naomi and Atomiswave), and even though it allows me to add a game (I get the message "added to favorites"), the game is not in the list. I have tried updating my lists, but nothing changes. Both emulators work in GameEx. I can add and or remove any MAME, Zinc, Model2 or Daphne game just fine. The only other system I have currently in Emulated games is ZSNES, which also works fine when adding games to the favorites list. Also, Ive noticed that Zinc, Model2 and Daphne games do not show up in the screen saver, which I only have showing favorites. I'm using the newest version of GameEx and Window 7. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Draco, that isn't a bad idea, ive got 5 computers on my home network. But I would like to be able to work on the cab while standing at it if possible.

Hi Brian, thanks for your reply! I've already tried option one, and the only thing other than GameEx that loads at startup is the trisync program that needs to load for my Monitor. GameEx does completely start, and I see the startup splash screen, but before the Menu appears, it minimizes and the cursor is locked in the middle of the screen, and I can still hear the GameEx sounds. So its not just a normal minimizing of a startup program. As far as option 2, ive only got two programs loading, so its pretty much instant.

Thanks a lot for your reply! I was aware of this, but wanted to avoid using it so I could still have easy access to the desktop/files when needed. The sheller does work perfectly, and I no longer have any problem when it is used.

I am having an ongoing problem with GameEx running when I start up my cab. I have searched the forum, but I cannot find any answers. I am using a new install of Windows 7 64bit home premium fully patched with the basic theme and the current version of GameEx. Everything works fine except when I first turn my cab on, or reboot. I have a shortcut of GameEx.exe in my startup folder, and GameEx does start when I boot up, but after I see the Blue GameEx "splash" screen, the program then minimizes to the taskbar and the cursor stays focused in the middle of the screen (I can still hear the GameEx sounds). Since I cannot move the cursor (it keeps springing back), I have to open the tasks, and switch to GameEx for things to get going again. Any help would really be appreciated!

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate the help!

Thanks for the info! I have never used either Vista or Win7, is there a way to disable UAC?

Hi everyone, it's been awhile, hope all is well. Mostly because I don't like dealing with all the little problems that usually come up, I only update my Cab once a year (GameEx, Emu's, Roms, etc). I am planning on changing the OS this time from Windows XP 32bit home to Windows 7 64bit home, and I have 2 questions. 1. Can I use the same GameEx ini file that I currently use with WinXP? I have a ton of emus, and it seems that whenever I used the auto update in the past, things usually got messed up. So what I usually do is just copy the old GameEx.ini into the new GameEx installation. I will be installing Windows 7 64bit home on a new harddrive. (I am using a GameEx version one year old and I am a registered user). 2. Are there any "tweeks" or known issues that anyone can share for Windows 7 64bit home for GameEx or any of the Emus that I should be aware of? I have never used Windows 7 before, and here are my cab's comp specs: Core2Duo 8400 overclocked to 4ghz, 4GB Ram, ArcadeVGA2, Betson Tri-sync monitor, 2TB disk space. Thanks!
