As a workaround open your GameEx.ini: \GameEx\CONFIG\GameEx.ini Find this line: VerifyRoms=TrueChange it to: VerifyRoms=FalseClick File> Save OR press CTRL+S on keyboard. Boot GameEx, go to MAME, press Update List.

Agreed. Love Bioware games, they've developed some of my all time faves but i also got tired of the "green 'n' grey". You feel like you're walking around in a petri dish after a while. Post-Apocalyptic can be done without the total washout.

Not listing Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition in Steam Games
DazzleHP replied to UNFORGIVEN II's topic in General
That is strange indeed - May be it's an OS thing then? I've done this 3-4 times and every time only new installs get recognised by GameEx. All games will always get picked up by GameEx in the default location though. W7 64bit Steam on separate partition from OS- 47 replies

Not listing Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition in Steam Games
DazzleHP replied to UNFORGIVEN II's topic in General
@Staff - I've noticed this happens when you have a pre-existing Steam library, on a separate partition (in other words NOT at the default location). GameEx will pick up any NEW installations from said partition, but not any games that already exist. My hunch is that GameEx is not monitoring the Steam "Scan Library Protocol" in which when you install Steam, you can point it to an existing library/directory, and steam will (scan and) add all games. These very games will not show up in GameEx. Yet use he same directory to install a "new" game and voila - it appears. You can test this quite easily if you keep your Steam collection on a separate partition: Uninstall Steam Uninstall GameEx Reinstall Steam and point it to your existing Library Let it scan your library and note that most games will be playable right from the start. Re-Install GameEx, enable Steam Support See what i mean? Admittedly only people with huge libraries will notice. Now, install a new game that wasn't in your library to begin with (ie not on your partition) but install it to the same location as your existing library... GameEx picks it up, doesn't it? This means in my eyes, and i am so far from clever it's comical, that Valve altered the way it monitors installs at some point, and we should try to nail when and where- 47 replies

Thanks man! I'm on W7 but it seems W10 is taking over - i got a lil paranoid i think I also agree - XP should be gone by now.
-
I've been wondering many of things: Is W10 really a Free upgrade? To what end, and which OS benefits most from this? (W7, W8, W8.1 etc) Who is eligible? I suspect only full license (Windows license that is) holders will get the upgrade, but what if you have a legit OEM version of either? If you are still using the same system are we in or out? Now the nitty gritty - i know you've been testing W10 and the latest GX with it, I applaud that. But i ask lightly - will there come a point when we will need to move on? I only ask because you have supported legacy OS's so well in the past, but accept that at some point progress will have to take precedence. Can we assume that W7 is all well?

[RESOLVED] Updated to 0.162 and not all games showing
DazzleHP replied to Evilforces's topic in General
The current filters work extremely well and depend on custom built databases, made by GX Staff. While they may not be "up-to-the-minute" accurate with the most recent MAME releases, they are immaculate, comprehensive and reliable. Relying on anything third party, such as category.ini is a bad move, from any point of view really. I'm sure you would agree if in a similar situation -
I think i speak for the rest of us too - we is happy!
-
When you report back, could you let us know which version of MAME you are using. Also, does switching between Fullscreen and Fullscreen Window make any difference? Setup Wizard> Custom> Display Settings> Window/Fullscreen. Try both settings with a GameEx reboot

I'm thinking, with all the different controller layouts and peripherals that we all have, may be we should gather the links together and stick 'em in the first post with some sort of disclaimer? So far we have SNES pad, 360 pad, and an actual wheel/pedal setup advice. I feel this would be a good move seeing as the controls are so complex compared to the average MAME game

Hi Scooby and welcome to the forums. I've moved your topic to the PinballX General forum, as it seems that is the area you are seeking advice for. You'll get better informed guidance in the correct forum

You don't need a KB attached for an OS to be Booted. It may take longer for KB input to be recognized, but it shouldn't hinder you at all. You also really shouldn't need to be in the bios if you are at this point - this is something you would typically do right from the start, way before you installed Windows, let alone a 3rd party program In other words - your KB will be activated once the OS has loaded.
-
Hey man! I have a hunch. GameEx will use a default profile for all keyboards (ESC is universal to nearly all keyboards in the world), as well as gamepads and controls panels, until the user specifies exact controls to be used/monitored. Try this: plug your KB into your USB hub. Load the Setup Wizard, go to Input Settings> Keyboard Input> Enable Custom Keyboard Controls=Yes Now go through each input and remap them (while your keyboard is attached via your USB hub) If my hunch is sound, you should be good to go afterwards.

I like Tom, and Charlize - But i have some reservations - Tom doesn't suit the Australian outback (is it set somewhere else?!) - he is a toff! Ms Theron with a boys haircut = blahh. I am shallow. So what.

Hi Dave, It's a misconception. If you want Windows (7) to boot automatically into Instant Sheller you will need to do the following (bare in mind your AnitVirus, Firewall etc will not get loaded so only do this if your system is disconnected): Click the Windows Button/ press the Windows Key. In the search field type: netplwiz, press Enter. Choose your Admin profile and uncheck the box next to Users must enter a user name and password. Click Apply. Repeat till Windows is satisfied. Now reboot Windows. Did it work? if so go back to Instant Sheller and choose not to use password. Run it. Reboot. To answer the bios screen question, as Draco said it can't be done, however a lot of these things can be disabled in the bios itself (look for "splash/loading" screen etc).

Nice! And if one was to look deeper at this - something is being anticipated... right?!
-
Yes, it has a High and Low gear, just tap up on the Right-Stick (if using my cfg) to switch between the two. You'll need to be in Low gear for the supply truck to catch you up, then switch it into High to drive in and collect them weps! You''l need 'em PS: If you stop completely (like when the supply truck drops you off) i think it automatically puts you back in neutral, so you'll have to put it back in gear to get going again.

Hi there bombdog, and welcome! I'm not a DB guru by any sense of the word, but i do know this - you can't really expect consistent results from inconsistent data. In this case that would be your filenames/naming conventions. This is a widespread problem being that there is no real standard to naming roms. Sticking to one convention will help you somewhat however and the preferred here is the No-Intro format but is by all means not required, nor essential. You would be doing yourself a big favor though if you could some how make your set standardized. GameEx has some nice features to manipulate game lists, for example ignoring info in brackets, sorting lists using the info in brackets etc but it assumes the info is uniform I'll leave you with that food for thought.
-
No problem at all Let me know if the accelerator/brake works - then we know for sure you have a D-Input enabled mame! Bare i mind i think the game starts you in neutral, so you'll have to put it in gear to get going (Right Stick Up)

It's playable! However it's still one of the hardest games ever made regardless of controls C64 was my weapon of choice btw, and the arcade version is far more difficult! Yeah your settings seem a bit out of whack The default settings for this game are though! I find a lot of default configs in MAME to be pretty crazy hehehe Here are mine so far, with everything working, but i've not played it much (in other words - subject to change ): Visual Rep on 360 Pad: The config file (extract to/overwrite in \<your mame>\cfg): spyhunt.zip PS: The config is from MAME 0.154, custom D-Input build. You will at the least need a Direct Input build for it to work, the version may or may not matter - have not tested. Make a backup of spyhunt.cfg first if you are unsure.

LOL - TOASTIEEEE I bought USFIV in the sale too and might have asked if any y'all want a match sometime... but it's been years since i played SSFIV on the ol 360 and i wasn't pro at it back then The glory days of SFII is a distant memory now. Getting old sucks.

A direct way (excuse the pun ) would be to load literally any MAME game, go into to game's input controls (Input - This Game for example), press Enter on an input (as usual) and pull a Trigger. If it reads it you have a D-Input enabled MAME build, if not you have not.
