  1. Not likely *whistles* It's not the shmups i'm worried about - it's the rest!
  2. Info on the files we need are here in sections 2 & 3 thanks. If after running Update List within GameEx, you are still getting thrown back to to the menu then double check your Mame Path and Rom Path in Setup Wizard > MAME Settings. Having incorrect paths is a common cause for this behavior and often gets overlooked when reinstalling
  3. Hey Jedah! The command you're looking for is actually on the last page of the Setup Wizard in >Tweaks/Performance> Launch On Startup Make sure not to confuse it with Launch On Startup don't wait, for reasons outlined in Adultery's original post. Assuming your paths are correct, your command looks OK! My brain is flagging this though (in red): "W:/GameEx/HiScore Updater/HiScoreUpdater.exe" -type 1 -fpath "W:/GameEx/customlists/GameEx HiScore Competetion.ini" Normally the official favorites file is named HiScore.ini, but you may have renamed it and the updater will probably be fine with that - only Adultery can confirm whether that would have an influence Apart from that though you look good to go!
  4. I know right! I can understand the precaution though - they (Valve/Steam) want to cover their own asses, and rightly so. But still, anyone with a Wi-Fi enabled, internet capable device can witness many worse things than age appropriate games... I won't get into them here for obvious reasons but you know what i'm referring to
  5. Most likely not because it needs manual action to get past it each time. You'll see what i mean by visiting such a page, entering your "age" then do a simple F5 refresh. Guarantee you will need to it all over again, regardless of cookie settings, or even if your are logged in with a verified account
  6. No problem. Glad you figured it out in the end I'll mark this resolved but don't hesitate in starting any new threads regarding anything else you need advise on.
  7. Yeah, i would boil this down to getting familiar with a new product. We are all "newbies" at some point but once you get to know the software a bit more intimately, GameEx really does deliver, and will often surprise you in what it is capable of Don't hesitate to start a new thread if you have anymore questions/queries - you'll find many people here that are helpful and willing to lend a hand
  8. Yup, left/right No deletion though coz it could help others that follow. As a tidbit, you can also influence how left/right behaves by Enabling "Cab Friendly" Controls in the Setup Wizard> Input Settings> Cab Control Friendly: "Turning on this setting optimizes the GameEx user interface navigation for sensitive joysticks and gamepads. It solves the problem of accidental left or right presses while navigating the menus. With this enabled left or right has to be held down to navigate horizontally." Best of all worlds.
  9. Hi Black Mage and welcome to the forums! The "Create Snaps" feature is only available to GameEx Licensed members, which also includes a dizzying amount of other features too. Being a Supporting Member you have access to a lot of nice stuff too, such as FTP access (dig around in there and you'll get your money's worth ) and Online features, but for good reason many features are reserved for full GameEx License holders. You can read a bit more on memberships here, and here. And as always you can upgrade your membership in the Client Area. I will always say this though: Dig around - you may be surprised at what you will find
  10. Good call indeed. A few other things to consider: If you have updated your MAME build and you have included the latest hiscore.diff that tthurman posted earlier, in your build: ...you will also need the latest hiscore.dat (in your root MAME directory): highscore.dat along with the following base directories: MAME\hi MAME\nvram Now comes the hard part - explaining things In laymen's terms, newer MAME builds can read (it's a lottery) previous high score files but more often cannot write them. Even with the right support files as outlined above, more often than not you will need to start over, ie delete your old .hi files and nvram contents. You can of course back them up/move them/rename them so they are preserved for nostalgic reference, but mostly you should delete all of your scores for each new MAME build for maximum compatibility. This is probably the reason why you can see some old scores but no new ones are getting written. It's a lottery really with each new MAME release, which games will be affected and which will be fine. It's just the nature of the beast :S
  11. That would probably be a good move. It's good for alerting you to major incidents before boot, but i don't think it takes into account some things, like plugins for example which can alter things after GameEx has run its processes. Use it as a guide - not a final word It's not a bug either BTW - as mentioned above i think the verification wizard only runs GameEx processes and doesn't take into account any 3rd party commands, processes etc. As you now know, us "Vets" will mainly use it to flag obvious flaws, but will still boot GameEx to witness for ourselves regardless
  12. Never. :P Seeing is believing
  13. Admittedly i never do either Commit to the end is what i always say And grats!! PS: apologies for raining on your parade there Adultery, but i always feel a massive urge/need to help you resolve stuff, whether wanted or not
  14. To be clear, and if Adultery is thinking along the same line as me, then try: D:\Utilidades\HiScore Updater\HiScoreUpdater.exe" -type 0 -mappath "D:\Utilidades\HiScore Updater\HiScore.map As your command within GameEx (using your original as an example). The first and last quotes are gone. If correct, GameEx will add them back in and complete the command
  15. I was gonna say the same thing lol If true then GX will add them back in and should work.
  16. Just to throw a curveball - are the permissions ok in the updater directory? Nothing has become Read Only somehow? EDIT: OK scratch that
  17. George! That's the beauty of IGBY - you have plenty of time to get good! No pressure at all Many of us suck at these games i can assure you - i do! Just play when you can and post whatever you score - it all counts! Even if you think you suck you could be contributing more than you know! Every little helps, you matter man
  18. I hate to say i told you so but... I've been against MS for many years because of their licensing policies. Nothing is ever free with MS.... there is always a catch, an angle, some hook that will, in the end part you with some serious cash. At the start of my forum membership i came here screaming Linux. I calmed down and backed off once realising this is not the place to do it. But now many of you have witnessed how fast it is, how efficient it is... I've only ever kept a Windows partition because of the hold that DirectX has over the gaming market - i'm a gamer therefore i had no real choice. But with the help of Valve getting involved (Steam OS) and a more active Dev Community contributing to OpenGL, things are looking to change. More game devs are now including OpenGL support in their works than ever before. Things are looking up, we could be on the precipice of change. Just stop giving your cash to greedy money grabbing corps, hell bent on draining you dry whilst delivering an inferior product. /peace said
  19. +1 to this. Bottom line is you can launch GX from Kodi, and you can launch Kodi from GameEx. The real trick is to kill each process at the right point, which can be done quite easily, with the right commands With a bit of gusto you can make them both seamless in fact
  20. Thanks for the info Parka! In all honesty when i was diligent with my sets, i already had most of what i wanted sorted already. It was only when i went looking for PC-Engine/TG that i came across both, and at the time Mednafen was far more complicated than i was willing to invest (at that point). I know now it has advanced considerably and will give some good attention when i next setup my system I don't regret my purchase though because Magic Engine is a great piece of software, regardless of whether people agree with it or not - it works, and it works well. I will give Mednafen another chance next time though - you've convinced me
  21. I think this a good move for MS - many of us are starting to despise their licensing practices (i considered them a joke years ago ) and people are waking up. Admittedly i've not personally looked into this "free" upgrade, but understand that it works on a modular level? So, it installs a basic OS and then you pay for what you want? Something like that? If that is the case i think fair play - they have seen the light, at last, but at the same time think "it took you long enough". There are better OS's out there that cost far less though, and you know it.
  22. Good to know! The GameBase's are actually very powerful, and once you get one working it should get easier to get all of them working, be it C64, Spectrum ZX, Vic20... they should all fall in line once you figure it out
  23. Never played it, and can't say i'm a fan of the comic either - but it looks badass!
  24. Yeah, as lenient as we are, we do expect at least a screenshot with your initials present. Not too much to ask for we feel
  25. Yes, this game is deeper than at first seems! But shouldn't be a problem to a player like you You got the skills man, own it.
