  1. 1. Nope. Sorry... 4. Yes. Go to the last page of your Advanced Config and change the 'Enable Attract Mode' to 'No'
  2. I really think it has something to do with custom version 2 themes - both of ours are in 1024x768 - don't know if that matters... Tom may want to look into this problem. I'll post screenshots as the error happens if needed.
  3. I've had this problem at least since Version 2 themes first started on the scene. I haven't managed to fix it, so I just ignore it. The list has always updated nicely for me with the exception of MAME.bak flickering. A glitch is what I'd call it... Just for the sake of argument, what theme are you using? This problem does not happen for me if I use the default theme.
  4. I don't use a virtual boy emulator, but the installation could be incorrect in GameEx since it's a lesser used emulator... Command line arguments could be incorrect or you may need to change a setting in the .ini (or .cfg) - can you post your GameEx log after the crash? I think it's probably command-line related if I had to guess. *shrug* It's always okay to try other emulators in GameEx. If you need help installing it manually, we're here to help.
  5. I haven't even thought of that. I was able to (more or less) get PinMAME working 'out of the box' with this tool in about an hour or so. I got another 10 gigs of Visual Pinball tables to install this evening so I'll be testing that too over the next couple days. I just figured out VPdisco last night so I'm excited to get started. Do you know which of these tables needs an installed plugin? Seems to me other than Mario's Tee Shot (which would be the best pinball table ever if it were real) that not many of the popular ones require the plugin installation. Also, wouldn't it be nice if there were a GameEx plugin that set a hot key to pull up the rule card? Damn I wish I had a more advanced .net coding ability, but I probably won't even get my VB / net framework classes in school until next year.
  6. Make sure if you're not sending a command line argument to render in full screen (as per Michael's suggestion), you also change the 'Run In A Window' option on the Emulator setup screen to 'Yes'.
  7. I was just thinking the same thing actually. Make sure your ROM paths are correct in GameEx but it sounds to me like you're having issues getting MAME itself to boot... unless you're getting a specific error. Post your GameEx log by opening START -> PROGRAMS -> GAMEEX -> LOG and copy/paste the info into a thread.
  8. Also, many oif the 'GameEx Forum Family' have answers to most of your specific questions. Often times, if a forum member can't help you, Tom will step in. We're an extremely helpful lot, so don't be afraid to ask. I got Gan=meEx set up (before the Setup Wizard - you know, back in the days) and fully functional solely by using this forum. There's nothing you can ask that someone won't have an answer to. .:EDIT:. I just checked out the new user guide. Very nice! Professional looking even! One should add some placeholders (bookmarks) for specific options to make it easier to identify specific areas.
  9. I assume the dump you're using has a bad header (for the ROM file I mean). Let me get some info. Are you using GoodTool verified ROM files? If so, is there not a better 'dump' of the game you want to play? I don't recall having any problems with headers and I play an insane amount of Nintendo. You'll probably see this issue less and less if you scan and certify your ROM sets. Cowering's Good Tools for NES are available all over the net. Google it and try installing and running the tool. If you need help let us know.

Okay. I threw together a quick 'portal' to house your tutorials. I'll be downloading them throughout the day. Keep me updated as new ones roll in.
  11. No, it's not used in PinMAME. I just thought it'd be cool to have GameEx display them - like it does for MAME cabinets and control panels and such. .mp3s are music files mostly, but I'm not sure how they're named either - I have to guess they're supposed to be there for something or other, although I don't use them and all my tables work. To be honest, I really don't even know what the script files are for. Anyways, your program saved me a good day's worth of solid sorting. I can't begin to tell you how great this little program is! I bet they'll include it in the torrent over at the dome...
  12. So far so good. I got a bit over 10 gigs of tables to extract, but from what I can see so far it's working perfectly. Removing the bracketed text was a nice little feature. This is a huge timesaver, Kaze. You truly are a genius. EDIT: Another suggestion (if you're interested): Can you make the process "Pause" by clicking the "Go!" button again? That'd be cool for people with a lot of tables to sort. Also, sorting for table and backglass in the same fashion as the snaps are sorted / renamed would be ultra neat-o.
  13. Yes they do. I forgot to mention these files. .wav samples too. That about does it.
  14. They're actually for VPinMAME games, with .nv and .cfg for extensions. Several tables have them actually... I'm going to change the ROM filter to sort these into seperate folders and manually rename them. They kinda work like the table ROM, in that the table ROM (say, Algar) writes to these files. I think one might be the battery and the other might be the dip switch settings. Not positive though. Also, I noticed that if the folders you're copying to (output and snap) don't exist, the program won't create them.
  15. Kaze- For this I have to say I love you... In a non gay way of course. I can't tell you how useful this is! Awesomeness! As a suggestion, could you make a selection for .nv and .cfg files too? They come out like: "fullname (details) (year) (version) algar_l1.cfg" and all the extra words need to be deleted from the fromt so the file name is jsut "algar_l1.cfg" That would only add to the awesomeness.
  16. You're not talking about A Boy And His Blob - Trouble On Blobonia for NES are you? Jellybeans and strategy... With the addition of a blob that can turn into a thousand different things. It's like a strategy game of sorts... More about it here.
  17. This is correct yes. Yo can change the way GameEx launches in the Advanced config, third page. Select 'Fullscreen' or 'windowed mode' from the pull-down menu.
  18. Just for the record: Alpha Blend Videos is in Display tab, not Multimedia/HTPC Settings.
  19. Not sure if this is what you're after, but I have an ATI Remote Wonder remote on my cab and it works perfectly.
  20. Yes, but I seem to recall somethng about not being able to use layouts individual to emulators since the lists and pictures and such can't be moved off the main layout... Like the Genesis game list might be on the left in the MAMEwah theme, and in the middle for Neo-Geo, but on the right for Atari, and so on. GameEx doesn't allow you to use custom locations for each emulator. Right??

Can you post a topic with a list to all your tutorials for me? Links would also be helpful... I intend to build a web portal on the ConfigHQ to house them all. Thanks and great work (as always!)
  22. I assume he's talking about Catalyst Control Center, since I had similar issues after updating my ATI drivers. Any forseeable fix to these problems?
  23. I definitely need a Neo-Geo Pocket page. Also GameCube, XBOX and PSP would be nice in keeping things up-to-date when better emulators make their way out.
  24. Cameltry for MAME maybe? More about it here.
  25. That looks really nice! Only have a few requests for you: Intellivision Winkawaks Also, if it's not too much trouble, I like to keep my VPinMAME and Visual Pinball tables seperate. Can you make an alternate pinball screen? I use 1024x768 on my PC, but would appreciate an 800x600 version for the cab as well. Thanks!
