That's what I thought the problem was in the first place. As I said before, I don't think it's possible to display GameEx solely on the secondary monitor.
-
Wait... So the problem isn't running GameEx solely on the secondary, it's setting resolution different on two monitors? You can do that yeah! START -> Control Panel -> Display -> Settings Tab Select the second monitor, change the size and hit 'Apply' - That's all there is to it! Getting GameEx to run on that monitor was the issue I thought?
-
You're not alone, Ariay. I've been trying to run GameEx on my secondary monitor for ages. I just don't think it's possible, or I didn't before I read Ling's post. I also use a Radeon 9800, so maybe it's just the card. *shrugs*
-
I can 'clone' the monitor (I'm thinking it's called 'mirroring' however) using UltraMon - but I like having the extended desktop so I can watch my torrents while I play games through GameEx. You can also use it to apply a black wallpaper to the second monitor if you're trying to hide Windows entirely for whatever reason... Haven't tried to mirror MAME however (or any other emulators for that matter), so I don't even know if it works. You can try it though. If you want MAME to run on multiple screens, there is a command line switch. I find this to be handy for games that used a seperate monitor to display game lists (like NSS or the old NES multi-game cabinets). If it's a single monitor game, like Pole Position for example, it will render the game to both screens. Makes me wish I had put an extra monitor above my marquee for people to watch... I hate people looking over your shoulder. The way to do this is: -numscreens <count> so, if you use two monitors, you would type this in the Advanced MAME Options page in your GameEx advanced configuration: -numscreens 2 Hope that helps.

Um.... What? Was I stoned reading this or does this post just not make sense at all? I do some music on the side and I don't recall anyone giving me a command line option to produce beats...

This is what the Default-Default folder is for in the Themes folder. Yes, true, but a standard naming system would make it easier to copy/paste emulator data into the theme.ini which would releive us of having to explain the setup process every time...

I'm up to date with the current release list. These snaps are a little bit behind me. The torrent I'm on is torrent zipped and updated weekly on Friday with whatever games come out that Tuesday (usually). That link kept up to 2380 which was shy of complete but pretty good as opposed to what's out there.
-
You know... The link provided on the previous page worked like a charm for me. My GBA ROMS are current and up to date and listed by release number. These snaps coincide with that naming system... I have a full set but since GoodMerge isn't a good option for this system, I just made a .map file to weed out the extras and remove the numbers when displayed on the GameEx list. For my money, this is the only option at this point... Until, of course, Cowering gets his s**t together and releases something way more current. GBA games are really trickling in since the DS went hot all the sudden. Shouldn't be that difficult to add another 50 roms next year as opposed to adding another 1500 tomorrow... *shrug*

Your computer get confiscated? That sucks! mp3s do ya in like everyone else?

Of course! In the theme.ini file, I set my emulators up so that the defaults are set up before GameEx settings are loaded. Paste something similar to this in the bottom of theme.ini Set these up accordingly, then save your changes and exit. [Emulator_1] CustomBackground= StartPageLogo= [Emulator_2] CustomBackground= StartPageLogo= [Emulator_3] CustomBackground= StartPageLogo= [Emulator_4] CustomBackground= StartPageLogo= [Emulator_5] CustomBackground= StartPageLogo= [Emulator_6] CustomBackground= StartPageLogo= [Emulator_7] CustomBackground= StartPageLogo= [Emulator_8] CustomBackground= StartPageLogo= [Emulator_9] CustomBackground= StartPageLogo= [Emulator_10] CustomBackground= StartPageLogo= Where your first emulator is #1 in GameEx config, CustomBackground=YourSystemHere.png StartPageLogo=LogoHere Example: [Emulator_10] CustomBackground=MasterSystembak.png StartPageLogo=Sms Unfortunately, you have to change the pages for each theme. (I think we should all sit down and figure out a theme standard so that one could just cut and paste this setup into each theme. Then everyone has to do this once.) Anywho, you do this once for each theme and these settings will be ready if you disable/enable the theme. Hope that helps!

Never heard of that, but it looks kinda cool.

To whom it may concern: I got this email and when I responded, my old buddy Daemon sent it back to me. If you wrote this, I'm putting it in a thread so we can help you. Good luck! First things first: Yes, it's possible to set up Visual Pinball on GameEx. There's a handy walk-thru here as well as here that you might want to check out. Next: It appears that you have your tables folder pointed at the ROMS folder. To use Visual Pinball / PinMAME, you need to point the browser at the Tables folder that contains your .vpt files, not the ROM files for each table. They're two seperate things. You can play the table without the ROM file (sometimes), but you cannot play the ROM without the Table. The ROM only simulates the whole game experience - like sounds, music, etc. Now: Unless you forgot to set up the command line option to -play it shouldn't do this. Unless, of course, this is related to the previously mentioned problem. Finally: There is a way to start Visual Pinball in GameEx. You should probably already know that VpinMAME is only a plugin for Visual Pinball. Without Visual Pinball, VpinMAME cannot stand. If you have map keys set to 'yes' then GameEx will kill Visual Pinball and return you to your GameEx GUI. Then, you will be able to launch the next table and play. If you have any other questions, feel free to post and someone will help you out.

Get clrMAMEpro from here. Install it. Then, get the DAT from here. You'll also notice that several other emulators have DATs so this may come in handy again. But for now, Kawaks is what we want. On the next page, click the link that says: Download Kawaks dat for CMPro (197KB) You can extract that .zip to clrMAMEpro's dat directory (wherever you installed the file to). While you're there, launch cmpro.exe This screen comes up: Select "Not Used/New Datfiles" and the dat should be there. Load that puppy up. Next step... You should see this window. Select Default and wait a few seconds. After that's done... You should see something very similar to this: Click on "Settings" and you should see this screen: Set yours up the same way, changing the backup folder to something you can remember. You'll need about 4gb of space for backups, but you can delete them after you're sure everything was set right. Also, make sure you set a ROM path. I point mine at my MAME ROM directory. Good to go. Next step... Click "OK" and you're back here: This time, I want you to select the "Rebuilder" option: Set your "Source" path to your MAME ROM path. Set your "Destination" path to where you want your WINKAWAKS ROM SET to be. Make sure all your options are the same way I have them here, and click the "Advanced..." tab. This window will come up: Set your options up the same way I have them here and close that window. Finally, locate and click "Rebuild..." to start rebuilding and scanning your MAME set. If you have a full set, this will take some time to complete. Go do your home work, listen to music, watch some quality TV programming, etc. Now, when you come back and it's done, head back to the "Backups" folder you specified here: Cut and paste them back into your MAME ROM directory just in case. If they're bigger or smaller, overwrite them. However, if your settings were right you should be OK. Generally, this method isn't supposed to make any changes to the originals, but you may have checked something. Who knows. Backups are always a good idea amigo. Next, open WinKawaks, point it at the path you just made, and kaboom! Good to go! Geek out with some brownies and Dr. Pepper. The 'Scanner' method is the variant we use when scanning our MAME ROMs with this tool. It's a quick and easy way to keep your ROM sets updated, but it takes a little time to get comfortable with. Sometimes too many options is just too many options. Hope that helps!

I used a clrMAMEpro dat file to build the ROMs that are originally in MAME 0.109 to the format Winkawaks uses. I didn't need to download the torrent - I just used my current sets.
-
True. That's why I have both installed but only use IE for that purpose. Other than that it's junk.

I'm afraid to even get in on this. I just went back to Firefox instead. Microsoft sucks and have sucked for a long time. Xbox and Zune can eat it too. Vista, you are also welcome to eat it. My treat. Who the hell puts the File menu under the URL bar? Drunk people That's who.

Believe it or not, I was just working on that exact thing! I was also gonna tinker around with a GameEx toolbar too. But it wasn't real high priority since I'm still attached to the Valhalla theme. I just made this theme to play around in Photoshop since my classes just started last month. I will put out a version 2 though... Just a matter of when really. I'm sure you know how it is when you got 100,000 projects going on at once I'm sure.

I smell an audio logging plugin! -
w=345 h=321 This size works too. I lifted the ratio from your Future Retro theme. I wonder why GameEx is so anal about image size?

NesterDC .cdi images also contain the ROM files, yes. However, there's a new version of NesterDC (Nester DC SE) that I highly recommend. It plays the games, shows box / title / snap / cart images and the owner's manuals, and plays .nsf files through an internal player. It also has a note pad utility for writing passwords and such, and can also read walk-thrus for a lot of popular RPGs. Not to mention the usual features of Nester DC (game genie, lightgun, etc). This puppy does it all. The CD builder downloads all the files that accompany the ROM files you already own. It takes a few hours, but your peeps will be impressed. http://www.sch3rz0.com/nesterdcse/

Man, Amos! The things you do with photoshop never cease to amaze me. That nav bar is super slick! Awesome! I gotta know though - how in the heck do you get the snaps to fill the whole box like that? Mine never fill the whole area I assign to it.
-
Yeah. I gotta agree that bubble selection box is awesome! These backgrounds are great! Nice work!
-
Thanks! I'm taking a course in photoshop and I was practicing some new techniques. The sounds in the theme are from Breath of Fire III from the Playstation. Now if I could just figure out that whole selector bar thing...

I posted in the uploads section, but since no one really looks there I'm posting again here. Plus, it's better to make a thread so the uploads board doesn't get cluttered with comments / complaints / suggestions, right? I'd love to hear some opinions... Download Size: 44.5mb Ratio: 1024x768
