  1. Yes sir. I added *.zip to my alternate winkawaks config... I set each method up as a seperate emulator. *hopes* Man I wanna get this to work... Neo Geo looks nice with the 2xSai filter!
  2. If my wife made me put my cab in the shed, she'd be going with it.
  3. It was for the Kill_Winkawaks wrapper: "winkawaks" [rom] -fullscreen But for the Simple_Wrapper.exe it's set at the default that was inside the .ini for GameEx: Simple_Wrapper.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" Neither method works for me... They both launch, just get the 'strobe' effect where WinKawaks seems to be pausing and starting itself over and over again.
  4. Thanks Ling, but I got everything set up the same way as you showed me and it's still not working. I'm using the Simple_Wrapper.exe and *.ini files to launch. If I change to the Kill_Winkawaks wrapper same thing happens. *frustrated*
  5. Show Desktop = False Not sure which wrapper I'm using... Downloaded the whole kit from the uploads catagory here.
  6. Once again the Kaz comes through. Thanks!

    ATTN: Nologic

Hey. So when I run WinKawaks it runs great, but when I run it through your wrapper it's all over the place... There's a window that keeps flickering back and forth... Like this. This and the gameplay screen switch back and forth to create a nearly unbearable 'flicker' effect on my machine. Suggestions?
  8. If you're using Nologic's wrapper for WinKawaks then you might appreciate this... Created from the extras artwork torrent @ the dome, this is a pack of snaps, title screens and cabinet photos for your GameEx pleasure. Download the ConfigHQ WinKawaks Extras Pack here. Enjoy!
  9. I scrubbed that forum I thought. Thanks Kaz! How about for Stella?
  10. That's not really what I need... MagicEngine runs at a max resolution of 600x800. I want it to run in 1024x768 instead, or else it screws up my extended desktop on my PC. Does that make sense or am I a complete idiot? If I set an emulator up to run at 1024x768 it won't need to change resolution and make my secondary monitor (which shows my desktop while GameEx is running) look like complete crap.
  11. Kat- If you're looking for hardware for your DC, check out a resale shop (ie Babages, Electronics Boutique or GameStop) They got the best deals and a huge selection of used DC games. Harder to get items are a bit more expensive however... Hope that helps. Ling- The Dreamcast was available as a reissue for a short time, however it is no longer being produced. This is mostly due to the fact that it could not boot CDRs and the underground / homebrew community wasn't interested in a console they couldn't mod or write for. Hope that helps!
  12. Hey Kat... Change the file extensions to .r01 .r02 and so on. Open with WinRAR.
  13. Is there any way to make GameEx force a certain resolution on emulators that don't have a command line switch? Most notable being Stella and Magic Engine? I hear people talk about 'wrappers' all the time. Is this what I would need to do this? All help is appreciated (as always)

    800MB Cd-R?

Late jumping in here, but as an avid DC burner I should mention that alot of the 'overburn' for DC discs you speak of is just DIR data for your burning application. Dreamcast rips have come down to a science and they use every compression tool imaginable to fit everything on one CD-R. Also, since you're new to DC burning, you should know it's IMPORTANT to keep your burn speed LOW. I usually burn at 4x since it's important not to have any corrupted data on your DC game - trust me on this one! If you're 80% through a game and hit a bad sector, it sucks. Any other burn-related questions ask away. Sorry I was so late on this one. PS - 90 minute CD-Rs are way too expensive for what they do - you could be out as much as a Dula Layer DVD per disc if you make a mistake or there's a write error. Did I mention how much I love my DC?
  15. My two cents on this: I downloaded EMU Movies also and my GameEx did not freeze up, although te AVI files I downloaded would not display correctly. This turned out to be more of a Windows XP issue and is (esentially) unrelated to GameEx. My fix ffor this problem: I had to remove the XVID or DIVX codec before installing FFDShow. There seems to be some code conflict with official DIVX / XVID codecs and the FFDShow codec pack. Most of the theme creators here (myself included) either use HD or VGA monitors on their cabs (which is my case) so all resolutions work just fine. My theme will be available in 640x480 although my personal environment doesn't require a low resolution so I've been working on it slowly. GameEx default themes work just swimmingly with all resolutions, so for now you may just have to settle for now - or create a theme of your own on your PC. With HeadKaze's theme editor, it's simple to convert layouts, you would just have to (essentially) resize the backgrounds yourself in Photoshop or what have you. That would be my solution for a 'quick fix' Hope that helps!
  16. Do you have to update the artwork since the new MAME renderer has been released? Seems like my old artwork is all .map files and MAME runs .art or .lay or some such thing? I'm using the GameEx bezels cause my artwork hasn't worked since 0.106 *shrugs* I will say that the GameEx artwork doesn't cause any stutter or slowdown issues on my machine.
  17. Mouse and keyboard used regular joystick ports. I love the DC!! All the homebrew stuff is awesome! Check out NesterDC SE and prepare to be blown away...
  18. I'm with u2 on this one. I use extended desktop on my PC and GameEx only uses that screen if I have MAME configured for two screens or I tell GameEx to run on it. Otherwise my other monitor always shows the 2nd half of my desktop when GameEx is running. Can't even get GameExtender to show up on it at all. So the dual monitor thing is pointless?
  19. I love this forum! Always great to hear those magic words - 'instead of searching other emulator forums' and 'the people are so much nicer \ more helpful \ more respectful here than any other emulation forum' Best damn emulator forum I've ever spent any time in! Hell, best forum for ANYTHING! GameEx just plain rules! .:And Stuart ol buddy... didn't mean to hijack your thread. I think it's great you wanna give something back... glad you got the help you needed promptly. All of us are here to help no matter what the problem may be. Welcome to the forum! :.
  20. Couldn't I leave MAME to run two and only show the GameExtender on the cosole emulators? It's just too bad GameEx doesn't have a way to broadcast my console emulators to two screens like MAME does.
  21. Hi all. I turned my GameExtender Viewer on to run in the secondary monitor but it doesn't seem to be working... Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS - I configured MAME to use both screens effectively, but I would like the emulators to use the other screen for the GameExtender. Is this even possible? If so, am I making a mistake?
  22. I thought you had to have 1.1 AND 2.0 installed for GameEx to run properly? Didn't someone say it looks for both but only really uses 2.0?
  23. If you're using old artwork files instead of the GameEx bezel, open one of the .zips (for 1942 perhaps). If you downloaded these before 0.106 you'll note that the artwork has a .map file with it. The new MAME (0.106-current) uses a .lay file instead of a .map file to display bezels. If you remove your artwork path in mame.ini and remove it from gameex setup, you should see Tom's bezel. The GameEx program asks you to update your game list each and every time you make a change to MAME. It's recommended you follow this through. I think you can enable/disable the last played game feature in the Advance Configuration. Hope that helps.
  24. I have a similar setup (with a bit more RAM however) and I have not noticed an issue - I even run two monitos and I'm not having slowdown issues. Sorry...
  25. I know it was my very first GameEx hangup when I came onboard... Took me an hour to figure it out. Back before good ol' 7-Zip anyways. I love GameEx and all the memories / nightmares associated with it...
