You can emulate Area 51 without noticable slowdown? I assume you're talking about the MAME version? How did you set it up so it runs at a playable speed? Just curious.

Now we're getting somewhere! Can you download and install something for me and we'll get to the bottom of this MAME thing. It sounds to me like a Key Mapping problem like stated before. Check and see if ESC isn't mapped as a button on your joystick and we'll go from there. I would also recommend installing NET Framework 1.1 as well as 2.0 since Mr. Spiers recommends that both be installed. You have a nice CPU by the way.

We need a LOG file. If this really is a mouse pointer issue within SNES9X, you may be better suited asking your question on their forum. I have both set up (SNES9X and ZSNES) and I can't reproduce either error in my own gaming environment so I don't know what to tell you. I think the root of your issues is your inability to post a LOG file. Cutting and pasting is a lot less tedious than trying to single out small imperfections in a command line driven emulator. Baby steps, sir (or ma'am).

Well if this isn't getting out of hand quickly... Kaze was just saying that there's a lot of things we don't understand. I have never (nor have I ever seen) anyone having these problems, especially the SNES9x one. If you;'re in need of help, you'll have to give us exact details. Usually that's what the log is for and that's why we're so hot on you to post it. You're more or less asking us to make a general guess as to a solution and holding back crucial details like what game you're playing, what error GameEx is giving you (exactly) and what your CPU specs are. Are you on a cab or PC? Do you use a joystick, and if so what kind? What operating system are you using? Microsoft XP Media Center? XP SP1 or 2? What versions of .NET Framework are installed? How long is it taking for your game to crash? Since you're not having average Joe problems, we can't give you an average Joe answer. If you need help, rather than bumping your thread every couple days, you're gonna have to be a lot more thorough on your explanations. Nobody's bashing anybody! We just can't help you without specifics! I know you're frustrated, but everyone here is donating their time to make the GameEx experience as fulfilling as it is for us. We've purchased and set up the program just like you and had tons of problems along the way just like you. You just need to let us know EXACTLY tit for tat what is causing these problems. No log file? No educated guess. That's just that simple. Sorry if you're disgruntled, but you gotta follow procedures just like everyone else has to. PS - If you think WE'RE rude, try asking the same questions on the MAME or SNES9x forums. They're a LOT less patient then we are. Trust me. And just for the record, an iPAC is the 'brains' of a real Arcade setup as far as the joystick and buttons go. Also, we generally discourage the using of 'beta' or 'between' versions of MAME and sticking with the Public Release versions like 0.101, 0.102, 0.103, etc.

GameEx runs at 100% for me all the time and I'm at a 2.5gig so I doubt that's it. But, if you want to tinker around, open your GameEx Advanced Config. On the Tweaks/Performance tab, you can change the value in Reduce CPU Utilization and see what that does for you. Hope that helps!

I've seen a cab that uses a real TV and this resolution works great for him. Especially with the new ZSNES version that allows you to set a custom resolution. By the way - it's ZSNES. I recommend not posting on the ZSNES forum with questions and referring to it as ZNES. They get really upset about that.

I thought this was only temporary anyways? The CHD thing for Capcom games was a walkaround to the ultimate goal - true emulation. CPS games don't have a hard drive in them to begin with. I thought I read on Aaron's website that these were not mandatory to run the game anyways... Online play is a pretty important factor for me too. I wonder if it's possible to build a plugin for GameEx so other GameEx users can connect and compete - I know GameEx is already capable of going online and checking for updates as well as posting what you're playing on GameEx Live... That feature would putr GameEx at the top of the front end list easily.

NeoRageX is just eye candy for me. I'm using a modded version, but it runs crappy on it's best day. Not much you can do there, sorry.

This "keypress detected" error is driving me bananas! What the heck button is being pressed? I tried everything - even disabled my keyboard. I don't know what else to try.

I have one idea... Go to your START menu and select the CONTROL PANEL. Open the SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES category. On the window that pops up, select the ADVANCED box. Under ADVANCED AUDIO PROPERTIES, select the PERFORMANCE tab. Check and make sure your HARDWARE ACCELERATION slider is set to FULL. Hopefully that will end the scratchy (or poppy) sound issues you're having.

All my troubleshooting days, I've never seen such problems. I apologize for my lack of helpfulness - but with the not being able to post logs and other crazy issues you're having, I think it's time to start thinking about wiping your HD out and starting again fresh. Just don't forget to burn your ROM collection first.

Amen! I was using that theme too, but what I did was start using Kamek's M.U.G.E.N. Version 4 theme instead. There's 312 spaces for different chars and I've filled all but the bottom two rows of 14. I also modified some Street Fighter Alpha life meters from the DOS version of MUGEN for the theme, and I have over 100 stages set up and ready to roll. This thing is gonna consume me. I can feel it already.

OK. Here goes nothing. Originally, I had a command line argument in MAME to run two screens: -numscreens 2 ; that was working OK up until a week or so ago. I took the command-line argument out hoping that would fix the problem. Now, instead of getting a framework error like I was before, the game will boot up and load, then after about 30 seconds GameEx detects a phantom key press and exits back to the menu. This is happening before I was getting the .NET framework error because usually the error comes after a few minutes of Attract Mode running. That means I might have a whole new problem and once it is solved the .NET error might still be lurking. I was running pSX, ZSNES and NEStopia in the screensaver, but I took these out when I had originally started having the .NET error. I am using vanilla MAME version 0.111 with updated and verified ROM sets. I'm nowhere near full capacity so that eliminates that problem. The only emulator that has been changed / added since I started having the .NET issues was MUGEN, and I just added that yesterday (a week and a half after the problem started happening). Hope that's enough info. If you need anythinr more let me know.

In your SNES9x config within GameEx, do you have Show Desktop set to 'No'? Not unless you patch the ROM, and I wouldn't even know how to go about doing that. There might be a command line argument (which I doubt) but even then, you would have to treat each SNES game as an emulator. That's not very practical IMO.

We really can't say without you posting your log. Try this: START -> My Computer -> Program Files -> GameEx -> Log -> log.txt Open this file and copy (CTRL+C) all the text on it and paste (CTRL+V) it into a post.

PCGame=True skips the selection screen when you select the emulator. In this case, it goes to the Start Game/Add To Favorites screen and launches winmugen.exe straight away instead of listing the mugen exe's in the root folder, like winmugen_debug.exe Just takes out the guesswork for people who don't know what to select. The torrent of which you speak looks very complete! Mine came with 300 or so characters but I see that one carries over 800. I can't say for sure that's pre-configured without actually downloading it... Seems to be an .iso? Not sure what that's about - perhaps a DVD?
