  1. Sounds to me like you don't have FFDShow installed...
  2. It's a toss up for me... .avi snaps and GoodMerge support. And skinability... Jeez, you better ask someone else or change the question to what DON'T I like about GameEx. That list would be 1000% shorter.
  3. Ha! This is cool! I musta done something wrong tho cuz it said I only got one right.
  4. Couldn't one put up a self-extractor that unzips the ROMs and launches GameExSetup.exe?
  5. It appears to... I think it's set up to do that so it returns to the Start / Title screen right after the video starts recording. However, like I mentioned earlier, it causes many games to stick on the 'Press Start' screen.
  6. Gobo is my favorite fraggle. Heh!

  7. I use Chankast to play it on my cab.
  8. Is there a way to keep GameEx from adding 3 credits when creating MAME videos? Some games get stuck at the Press Start screen. I assume this is supposed to happen?
  9. Not ruling anythng out here... Can you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and see if the process is still running? If so, disable GameEx from there and see what happens. When this occurs on my machine I can't even get the menu to pop up - I have to manually kill GameEx from the Program Manager for some reason.
  10. Did I mention how much I like the new forum upgrade?
  11. Hi. If your Visual Pinball tables are in PleasureDome format, you can get Kaze's PleasureExtractor here. I have been unable to find any clrMAMEpro dats for Visual Pinball, but you can snag the ROMCenter dats from here. I see there's a link that says CM to download, not sure if that would be the clrMAMEpro DAT. Hope that helps!
  12. Before I go off on this subject I would like to apologize to the entire GameEx user base as well as the GameEx.info moderators and forum regulars. However, I've taken my share of abuse from this person and I've had enough. The line has officially been crossed and it's time to stop being the babysitter on the forum. Me too, Puppet. You've been warned about the attitude in a lot of posts. We're like a family here... We offer the best support on the internet for not only GameEx, but often for various Emulators too. If you don't believe me, try asking questions and repeatedly bumping your topics on another forum and see how far that takes you.I read the post but I don't use the emulator so I apologize for not being able to help. However... You're not the only person who has problems here, and the attitude is absolutely uncalled for. If you're not satisfied with GameEx, fine. It's not for everyone. But if you're gonna lash out on us for looking at your post 15 times (which is probably you looking at your own post 14 times) then I say good luck to you sir. I have personally responded to your posts on a TON of occasions so don't give me that BS. I paid for GameEx just like everyone here, and Tom gives me nothing for helping people out. Hell, I created a web site and use MY OWN MONEY to try to help people out beyond the forum. That is because I love GameEx so much, and I truly think it's an ingenious FE as well as an intuitive piece of software. Frankly, I'm a little more than fed up with the kiddie BS insults you throw at us. We're mostly grown-ups here, and I for one don't talk to people like that under any circumstance... Especially when hiding behind the internet. As I recall, Ling was frustrated too when he first started out, but he's NEVER said anything as abusive or arrogant to me, or any of us for that matter. Now he's a seasoned pro and he donates his time to help people troubleshoot their problems. We all get frustrated but really... This is absolutely uncalled for. Tom doesn't charge for the software... It's a donation. If you honestly thought paying the meager $25 for the software would make your inability to set it up go away, you're crazy.Bottom line: Act like a kid be treated like a kid. Good luck with setting up GameEx. I've responded to ALL your posts, even when they're prematurely (and repeatedly) bumped. My own WIFE doesn't talk to me like that. I'd hate to be sitting on your karma pal. PS - If you have a problem, I can understand a bump if it sat there for a few days. But 2 1/2 hours? WTF?
  13. Tutorials are always a good idea in my book. I'd like to create a movie in my Pure theme for each emulator, so I'm interested in this.
  14. Nolo is right. The GUI will still pop up when you hit ESC but GameEx will exit the emulator and return you to the ROM selection screen.
  15. Very cool HeadKaze! I love this theme! The movies are always a welcome touch. If I knew how to author movies I'd add them to themes too.
  16. Tom: Your hard work never goes un-noticed. I like the forum overhaul. Very nice! These post icons are splendid. Really! New options like SpellCheck and polls to play around with too!! Tres cool! Thanks!
  17. 1) GAMEEX: The minimize problem happens to me if I run something else behind GameEx. When that program comes to the front it minimizes GameEx and I have to maximize it myself before it starts. Most commonly this happens when my Norton kicks in for a scan. Not sure if your problem is similar. 3) GENS: Go to your gens.cfg file, change that line where it says FULLSCREEN like you did before and save & close it. Then, right click the gens.cfg file, select PROPERTIES and change the check mark to READ ONLY. 4) I don't have ZSNES in front of me, but make sure you open the zsnes.ini file and disable the GUI from there. I'm 99% sure the option is in there. Save it and exit. If this doesn't work, change your GameEx setup for ZSNES to Show Desktop: True and try to launch it again. Post back with your discovery. 5) .7z is geared towards GoodMerge. If you enable GoodMerge support, GameEx will extract the contents of your 7-zip file into a temporary folder and you will be taken to another menu screen that shows the contents of the 7z file. Next time you access a .7z file within the same emulator, GameEx deletes the previously extracted ROMs and unzips the new .7z file. Hope that helps!
  18. Awesome! Thanks Kaze.
  19. Hello everyone. I changed the default bezel for GameEx to something more suited to my cab. For some reason though I play some games and it still comes up as the old bezel, while other times it's the new one I made. I recreated and replaced both bezels in the Bezel Version 1 and Bezel Version 2 folders. Did I miss a temporary one somewhere or something? Thanks for the help.
  20. What's the issue with GoodMerge? You just aren't feeling the way the games are displayed? Or you need help GoodMerging? Or you need help using the No-Intro DATs in clrMAMEpro? I'm not sure I follow... but I can help with all three.
  21. I use MESS for these emul;ators also and that doesn't happen to me. Did you try disabling the GUI? Put this in the command line: -nonewgui
  22. What letter is your virtual drive? ; ; CD-ROM drive letter ; -- ; (Windows 2000/XP only) ; ; D: ; E: ; ... ; drive_letter=??
  23. If it even works in MESS which I don't think it does, it would be -skip_disclaimer but this command line argument has been removed from the MAME core. If you're using MESS instead of vannila MAME or MAME32, in your GameEx Advance Config, go to the 'Advanced MAME Options' tab. Then select 'YES' for Bypass disclaimer / Warnings (which is like the 4th option down I think). Link Link
  24. First things first: Assuming his cab is networked so it can recieve updates and go online, you can install XP over a network. As far as HD space, I have a thorough collection. I use external drives to keep things together and so I can remove them if I need to. Complete space is already pushing 160gb for 24 or 25 emulators (soon to increase since I'm working on Tandy CoCo, Vectrex, Commodore and Apple IIE) but I have very complete sets which include many 'duplicates'. Your friend can get TOSEC sets and save the HD space. Also to be noted: The MOBO specs will be important yes. Always good to know your CPU speed and RAM.
