  1. Mesk: Quick question for ya - did you re-run update list in GameEx after you compiled the latest interim update?
  2. The only other thing I know to try is setting the resolution higher to 800 x 600 and D3D enable and see what happens there. I am not experienced with ArcadeVGA but have seen where issues with some users have cleared up some by increasing the screen size from 640 x 480 to 800 x 600.
  3. My wife is supportive and once the adult kids move out and we are "empty nesters" again I am sure she will be more willing for me to build an arcade machine of my own. Right now we are stacked like cord wood with people, pets, and furniture. Your wife needs to lighten up a bit - you aren't bar hopping, out gambling, etc. You are at home with your hobby with your family. That has to count for something.
  4. Looks great! To polish it off would recommend the side-art when you can afford it (it's ain't cheap unless you can cut a good deal with a local printer). Also, grab a spray can of Rustoleum semi-gloss black and paint the mailbox to fit in with the rest of the cab. I am still jealous and I still hate you!
  5. OK, the first thing I noticed in your mame.ini is that you are using ddraw - Direct Draw instead of d3d - Direct3D. GameEx is loading Direct3D. I wonder if this may be contributing to some of the apparent lag between your actions and the response on the screen. Can you try changing your settings in MAME to utilize D3D and report back with the results? If you should error, please provide a new copy of the log file. I also noted that you are using an ArcadeVGA card. Can you tell us what model and if you are running the latest XP drivers? If not using the latest driver for your graphics adapter, try upgrading. Again, let us know the results.
  6. A good place to start would be to upload a copy of your log.txt file and gameex.ini (you will need to save the gameex.ini file as a text file before uploading it to the forum). Your mame.ini file (again, saved as a text file) may also be useful.
  7. I know it could be done back in the good ol' DOS days when you could directly assign the IRQs to the cards and, if the program supported redirect from system default to that card at that address, it was no issue at all.
  8. Damn, better get things cleaned up - forgot about the black lights!
  9. I have to agree with bkenobi about the MS services. What you may want to do is, instead of stopping or disabling them, you can set it to delayed start to see if that makes a difference. Regardless be sure to understand what they actually do before making any changes on them or their dependencies. As for Bootskin, not sure I can help you there. My guess is that it will not matter.
  10. Would explain the player 2 button is sticking... just sayin..
  11. You can locate the log file under gameex\log\log.txt - just upload to your reply in the forum.
  12. 8BitMonk - Glad you got things going in the right direction! Hopefully Jombee and a few of others may be able to step in and help with the individual emulator settings to get things tweaked.
  13. Looks spiff - good job, Tom!
  14. Muy Beuno - Gracias! Will have to jazz up the stock CP as well to match!
  15. Much appreciated!
  16. Once again I am in awe at the great work! Do you have a PSD of these controller layouts you have created? Eventually I will be going to the 360 for PC game pads and these are perfect!
  17. All sites appear to be up and running and 11.63 installed again, but this time without looping. Also Gamer Cards working again as well. Thanks for the quick fix, Tom!
  18. Thanks, Tom! We appreciate your efforts!
  19. I have noticed that gameex.net appears to be offline as well as spesoft.com. Likely this may be the cause.
  20. You can do so through the Advanced Configuration within the Enable/Disable Features. Select No for Enable GameEx Auto Updates. Tom has been notified under another thread so hopefully this will be fixed soon. As always, you should keep backups of any custom settings. I would recommend copying them to a folder called Backup within your MAPS folder or - even better, backup your entire GameEx folder and all sub folders to a separate drive along with the Backup folder previously suggested..
  21. ...So I couldn't afford a birthday card, but Happy Birthday none-the-less!
  22. I am getting the same thing as well.. here is a snippet of my log file that shows what I was suspecting is causing the repeated loop. GameEx is still showing the version as 11.62 even after I downloaded the program and performed an install instead of update: 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: GameEx: Version 11.62: Starting Log 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: Operating System Platform: Win32NT 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: Operating System Name: Windows Vista 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: Operating System Version: 6.1.7601 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: Aero running 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: Initializing Vista/Windows 7 volume control 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: .net Framework 2.0 Installed 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: .net Framework 3.0 Installed 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: .net Framework 3.5 Installed 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, 8126MB 22:33:33.9 3/19/2011: 2.39Ghz - 4 Cores or CPU's I confirmed that the version in the gameex.ini was also showing 11.62: [internal] csv=C:\GameEx\config\config.csv ini=C:\GameEx\config\gameex.ini MAMEEXE= windowed=True version=11.62 timesruncount=3 startpagethumbscount=26 I went so far as to try tricking the program by changing the value in the gameex.ini to 11.63, but it still registers as 11.62 in the log file. For now, just going to disable auto-update feature until the cause can be determined.
  23. I imagine you could snag some Android and possibly iPhone stuff and run it through an SDK - most have testing emulators.
  24. 8BitMonk - I have not had many problems running Win 7 64-bit with most emulators so don't count it out if you have a true x64 machine. I was running MAMEUI32 and much prefer the response I get from MAMEUI64 on some of the newer games.
  25. It seems that there have been many reports of mixed results from my searches. It still sounds like it is not playing nice with the ointegrated graphics adapter. Also, with the Dell 530/531 PCs the installation of the PCI video card is supposed to disable the integrated video but it doesn't always do so. I would have another look at the device manager and see if you can locate it adn disable it. That being said, you may still have problems and may not be able to overcome any compatibility issues.
