  1. I have not created many new logos as I have been concentrating on a new theme. I ask that for any specific requests that users post any console/handheld and logo images in the Graphic and Theme Editing thread over in the Social Club forum. I will review the requests and decide which ones I have time to work on or not. Keep in mind that if the system is actually a minor upgrade to a more dominant system with few if any programs written specifically for it, there is a likelihood that it will not get its own logo. Since my logo packs are generally pretty extensive, I would like to see the end users pick up the tools available and provide for the community the obscure systems.
  2. Starbuck - that sounds like a good idea! Would you mind posting this in the Feature Requests and Enhancements thread so that it will get the appropriate level of attention!
  3. Odd. Have you cleared out all cache files? EDIT: Load the gameex.ini file in Notepad and search for the following lines: [list_SETTINGS_0] displaybackgroundimage=True displayimagelist=False You will see multiple list settings for each emulated system. If you locate any settings that show displayimagelist=True, edit it to read displayimagelist=False then save. Load GameEx and see if this resolves the problem.
  4. Open Setup Wizard before booting GameEx. Click on Custom then Next. Select Display Settings, then click Next. Go down to "Display Image/Video List" and change setting to No. Next a few more times then Exit. This should remedy the problem and give you a text-only list when you load GameEx.
  5. Glad ya got it fixed! Enjoy your evening!
  6. I'm not sure as you noted, most everything is handled by Mame, although some of the megadrive features may make it worth it to someone that is just looking to emulate some of the more limited and obscure systems along with CPS1 & 2. Since I am in the "sharing" mood.. here is a new FB Alpha logo... Enjoy!
  7. Anytime, my friend! I am not a Zinc person so if I helped that is a good thing!
  8. I can see quite a few advantages, especially when slugging it out with a friend in Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter. Making one's own arcade, hitbox, or whatever is a source of pride in that you built something and made it your bitch! As for mapping joystick inputs, I seem to recall someone struggling a bit to make it so!
  9. Probably not or it would be in there! LOL! Do you have a good image for me to work with? No ETA announcement other than soon...
  10. Answer to question #1: Yes you may! A nod in my direction for any submissions is nice but not necessary. As I see it, 99% of what we work with and modify is borrowed and manipulated. Answer to question #2: This is a multi-part answer to your question. I have had to go back and extract images from my logos for other work. Because the transparency fades to black, in some cases I have found that adding another layer underneath (often black is the color of choice) makes it easier to use the "magic wand" tool to obtain an outline of the image. You will find that there are tool combinations that will need to be used to obtain a clean extract - eraser, wand, select by color tool, lasso, etc. Additionally, once I have a somewhat clean image to work with, I will often use invert and shrink. I will first "select all", then click on Invert, then Shrink. Depending on the size of the image, I usually shrink the outline by 1 pixel. I then click on Copy and then Paste as a New Image. Again, you may have to wash-rinse-repeat any or all of the above steps until you get a clean, crisp image. Answer to question #3: I have a second monitor so this is not a problem for me. I believe that you can dock several items within the Toolbox but to be honest, I have yet to figure it out. I will have you give Inkscape a looksie - perhaps you can give me some pointers!
  11. Chicken or duck? I like chicken! Especially fried! When can we come over to eat?
  12. I have attempted under that theme and several others, no problems to report here either. @Evilforces - can you provide for us the words you are using in your search? Also, let us know if you are searching for anything in a language setting other than English. Some screen captures in addition to Adultry's request for log file right after the search issue occurs will be helpful.
  13. If you have Access or OpenOffice (The free MS Office-Like suite of word processor, database manager, spreadsheet, etc.) you can edit the db yourself. Not sure why we need to add more code to the frontend to trim down the list when it is functioning as designed, is not utilizing much if any in system resources, and is apparently not a bug. Just my two cents - spend it as you desire! As for Tom not reading the Feature requests thread that often, I beg to differ as many of the recent enhancements are actually derived from there and not just bug fixes from what has been reported in the General forum.
  14. There are other things that may need to be changed in the .inf file as well, such as Time Zone, Keyboard and other language defaults before it is put to use. I would also caution that, unless you are really Windows savvy and can troubleshoot your install accordingly, you may want to stick with a standard installation. Support for GameEx on a heavily customized install is somewhat limited as we haven't often the time or ability to troubleshoot what you may have left out that was needed. We will do our best, of course, but sometimes the suggested remedy is to use a full installation.
  15. Anytime, bro!
  16. I started a thread regarding Custom Menus here. The main thing to keep in mind is that you always have items within a menu - sounds basic, eh? Some, however get hung up with this. In a nutshell, here is part of how I have mine ordered as follows: START (Menu) - Arcade (Menu) - MAME, Daphne, GameEx Flash Arcade Online (Items) - Pinball (Menu) - Future Pinball, Visual PinMAME, Visual Pinball (Items) - Consoles (Menu) - Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Bally Astrocade, Coleco Vision, Fairchild Channel F, Mattel Intellivision, Nintendo NES, Nintendo SNES, Nintendo N64 (Items) - Handhelds (Menu) - Nintendo Game Boy, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Nintendo Game Boy Color, Nintendo Virtual Boy, Sega Game Gear - Fruit Machines (Menu) - BFM, MFME (Items) - PC Systems (Menu) - DOS Box, FICS / BabasChess, Flash Games, Game Launcher, ScummVM, Steam, Z-Code Interactive Fiction (Items) - Favorites (Item) - Multimedia (Menu) - Search, Pictures (Items), eBook Readers (Menu) - ebook reader, Nook, Kindle (Items) As you can see, you can nest additional menus within a menu, and items within any, but you always must have a menu to which you may assign and item. This setup works well for me, however, only you can decide what works best for you and you will tweak it a few times! Best to get out a pen/pencil and paper and map it out, input it to the Custom Menus, assign your custom logos and the like. It will take you a little time but I think that you may like it in the end as you have made it yours and not like 90% of the rest using out of the box organization! Not that there is anything wrong with that if that is what someone prefers, but why not be a 10%er?
  17. Just thought this was a good one.. I went the old fashioned route and loudly read Dr. Seuess' "I Am Not Going To Get Up Today!" to them!
  18. Kids? No.. they are better than that! Except for the fact we can't train them to use the toilet.
  19. You've definitely outlived much of the competition! Seems that a quite a few that "left the fold" are coming back to bask in the latest greatness! Good job!
  20. She is a thing of beauty! Thanks, Tom!
  21. For those using my logo packs here is Taito Type X with KOF characters. Enjoy!
  22. Sorry to hear about Calvin. We have lost several fur babies over the last 3 years and the waterworks still occur on occasion. One was a chocolate point Siamese named Locksley and a black 7 tan Chihuahua named Verdi. Both had very distinct personalities and loved us at our best and worst. We have since added Zoey (a fawn colored Chihuahua) and Duncan (a Snowshoe cat) to our menagerie. They will never replace but they do fill some of the hole left behind by the others passing and are loved every bit as much!
  23. I hope Bumblebee was OK.
  24. Nope, works with and without custom menus enabled. I am just wondering if maybe the Directx display drivers had a little hiccup and rebooting resolved the issue.
  25. OK, color me somewhat embarrassed and a little bit confuzzled. While working on my newest theme, it appears that the functionality of the media bar is working again in fullscreen mode with Foreground Top-Most enabled. Not sure if something got a little hung up during my previous sessions to prevent it from working, but as of this morning it is working as designed. For now, handling this as a resolved issue unless it recurs.
