  1. Thanks; I'll check it out later tonight when I get home from work or tomorrow when I'm off.
  2. When I used to play this as a kid, it was on the the Atari ST. The controls on that were simple.. point the joystick in the opposite direction you want to go (like, UP to go down, it's simply to point which way you want the paddling to go) and then press the trigger button the joystick to paddle. Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure how you threw cans on the Atari ST version since you only have 1 button, I'll have to go back and see if I can remember.
  3. May have already been suggested, not sure. I hardly ever request additions to GameEx, is pretty much perfect (knock on wood) as it is. However, I'd like to see an extra item added to the "Emulator" pages that allows for a custom RSS feed when you're in that emulator's menu. For example; a Sega feed for Fusion. My ultimate desire here is to be able to add the High Score RSS feed to the custom emulator I created for the competition's dedicated MAP file.
  4. From what has been said: You can have both versions installed side-by-side. This is so there can be continued support for the current themes, as well as enable users with older computers to still be able to run GameEx. There will be a requirement to make new themes, although Tom has said he is willing to assist in converting current themes. I haven't heard anything about plugins.
  5. I probably shouldn't even bother posting this, but I feel like a heel not participating in the GOTM, so here's my crappy score. Game's too tough for me! Initials: HAN Score: 7,397 Updated OP, DB, RSS
  6. Interesting game; it GROWS on you. The first time I played this, I had no idea what I was doing, and wasn't that good, only made it to the 2nd stage. Then the next time I played it I did better, made it to stage 4. It gets tricky after 2 because the helicopters and jets all have heat seeking missiles and you have to maneuver a bit more to avoid (or shoot) them. I like it! Initials: HAN Score: 103,700 Updated OP, DB, RSS
  7. LOL!!! Wow you guys are WAY better than me! I discovered the other day I hadn't played this yet, so here is my first entry: Initials: HAN Score: 61,750 Updated OP, DB, RSS
  8. Here's a quick question for ya'll. I know we have an RSS ticker for the High Score, is there anyway to configure a menu to have it's own RSS feed, or does it need to be edited in the theme editor only? I'd like to be able to pull up the customized High Score menu and have it display the high scores for the games listed as the custom RSS feed rather than the all-around MAME rss updates. Just an idea. Man this is getting awesomer and awesomer!
  9. Just a quick heads up. I updated the OP for the "Official MAP File and GUIDE" thread to include links to Adultery's awesomeness! Thanks Adultery!
  10. Wow snazzy! Can't wait to give this a try! So what was the deal with my RSS updater bug?
  11. Seems like a quick and easy fix. Thanks for the updates Tom and Adultery!
  12. I'm glad you're finding use of my MAP file rtkiii. I only wish more people were using it besides just you and me. Hopefully some people are taking advantage of the custom-favorites option too. In either case, as long as people are still actively participating and playing games, that's the important part! Good scores by the way! Updated OP, DB, RSS
  13. Nice score rtkiii, beats my 'unentered' score for sure! Updated OP, DB, RSS
  14. Yeah I'm thinking the same thing. I'll update it later this afternoon when I get home from work.
  15. Yeah I think the idea is sound (Adultery's) it's just in my specific gaming style, I prefer to have the High Score list selectable right from the main menu, rather than having to dig down into MAME first. To each their own. Adultery's method seems much more simpler, and would require nothing in the way of direct updates from me (or GC) on the map file. But as I said before, this idea JUST happened. It'll take awhile to figure out the best way to make it work (if at all). We don't HAVE to have a list, I just thought it might make some people have an easier time getting to the games that much quicker.
  16. My system just isn't capable of doing the rendering fast enough to make it playable. Usually I got around 10-15 fps, and it's not worth it for that.
  17. Heh I feel the same way, and it's my competition!
  18. So if we have it setup, all you would need to do is just go into MAME through Game Ex, and see all the different lists (like 2-player, 4-player, horizontal, etc) and High Scores would be in that list too? I don't know if I'd like to see the High Score games listed in that menu. I kinda like to have it placed in it's own menu right off the root like I did in my map file guide. The way it sounds, the MAME custom favorites, whatever it's called, would have it listed under the MAME menu.
  19. Wow nice score, moved into first place! Updated OP, DB, RSS
  20. I only have retail PS2 games, and I can tell you that having games running from the drive vs running from the hdd makes no difference. In my specific case anyway. I thought I would get a performance boost by ripping it to an ISO since my system could barely handle the PS2 games. Turns out it didn't make any difference; it still sucked. No harm in trying in your case, but ripping to an ISO should make it run better. I just didn't notice when I tried.
  21. I'm all for it. Whatever makes it easier.. I just came up with the idea to use a map yesterday.. If we can make it work, I think it'll help.
  22. I recently took the plunge and upgraded to Media Browser 3. Anybody else use it? I learned that they have a plugin to sync what you watch with a "tracker", so you can post things (like I did with my signature) about what you're watching. Its pretty cool. Something else you can do is make friends and get recommendations. So I was wondering if anybody else uses Media Browser and the Trakt.tv plugin.
  23. I still like my idea, but if I find a favorites ini is more preferred, I'll make the changes to the pinned topic.
