    Virtual NES

Ahhhhh ok. That was what I thought. It that case, as mentioned, no unfortunately. It autohides after no movement of the mouse but still shows long enough on the screen. Only solution would be to create a script to move the cursor off screen if you continued to use this emulator. But it is an old emulator and Nestopia is so much better and is still being updated. It's the most suggested emulator to use by us here at the forums and by emulation sites.

    Virtual NES

I thought Virtual NES was an online emulator written in JAVA? Is that the emulator you are referring to or could you link me to the one you mean so I can test?

    ZInC

So I'm assuming you running as a standalone emulator? If so then what's your command-line? Using as a standalone will take some tweaking to get it to work.

    D Movies

I was unable to play them in VLC during testing. It only played audio.

Not gonna work with zincgui unless they recently changed it. It didn't have a CLI as I mentioned. You need to use it just to setup zinc and then use zinc to run the roms. Not zincgui.
  6. I thought these were in the database files under the Biography section.

zincgui is a frontend for zinc. It does not have CLI. GameEx is one of the few frontends I know of that of that makes it run natively. So you have 2 options. Use GameEx's integration of zinc or setup as a stand-alone emulator. Zincgui is basically good for setting up the way you want but after that is done, you need to get the correct command-line settings to make those settings work. ZiNc is without a doubt, the most PITA emulator of all. LOL. Let us know what you desire and then we'll go from there or point you in the right direction. There's lots of topics of ZiNc in the forums. I really think we need a tutorial on it. I'll write one up someday.
  8. That's the way arcade roms are named. GameEx builds a list from the MAME executable and generates the name for you unless you have it setup as a standalone emulator or if it's for a different emulator other than MAME in which you would need to use either a database or map file. Please give more info on which emulator and how you have it setup. If only certain games are playing and focus is returning back to GameEx then that means there is a problem with the rom. Maybe your romset doesn't match your mame version? Best way to test this is to try running one of those games again in GameEx and then exiting. Then follow the directions oh "How to ask for Help" by Tempest. Try trouble shooting with runitgame.bat by following step 4B. This will show you the console window and you will be able to see the output of the window. Then if you need help then post those results here. What type of gamepad is it? Have you set it up in MAME? Press TAB in a MAME game and a list of options will appear. Then navigate to Input (general) and setup your controls as needed for each player and each gui function. Try the suggested and report back please.
  9. Hello and welcome to the forums! To list only the MAME roms you have then you wanna set that in setup. The setting is called Only Exisiting Roms found in the Advanced MAME Settings section. This should be set to Yes. After this is changed then update your list within GameEx.
  10. I've only used it when converting to the new chd versions. But am sure I can figure it out if it's possible. Just need to know the correct commands. Here's the list of commands I generated from chdman: chdman - MAME Compressed Hunks of Data (CHD) manager 0.140 (Oct 21 2010) usage: chdman -info input.chd or: chdman -createraw inputhd.raw output.chd [inputoffs [hunksize]] or: chdman -createhd inputhd.raw output.chd [ident.bin] [inputoffs [cylinders heads sectors [sectorsize [hunksize]]]] or: chdman -createuncomphd inputhd.raw output.chd [ident.bin] [inputoffs [cylinders heads sectors [sectorsize [hunksize]]]] or: chdman -createblankhd output.chd cylinders heads sectors [sectorsize [hunksize]] or: chdman -createcd input.(toc/cue/gdi) output.chd or: chdman -createav input.avi output.chd [firstframe [numframes]] or: chdman -copydata input.chd output.chd or: chdman -extract input.chd output.raw or: chdman -extractcd input.chd output.(toc/cue) output.bin (if toc, no extension if cue) or: chdman -extractav input.chd output.avi [firstframe [numframes]] or: chdman -verify input.chd or: chdman -verifyfix input.chd or: chdman -update input.chd output.chd or: chdman -chomp inout.chd output.chd maxhunk or: chdman -merge parent.chd diff.chd output.chd or: chdman -diff parent.chd compare.chd diff.chd or: chdman -setchs inout.chd cylinders heads sectors or: chdman -fixavdata inout.chd or: chdman -addmetabin inout.chd tag [index] sourcefile or: chdman -addmetatext inout.chd tag [index] sourcefile
  11. Yay! Marking as [Resolved]! Enjoy!
  12. I've always thought it lacked to begin with. I don't think the Rock is gonna make it any better. LOL. I'd rather watch real fighting. I'm heavy into MMA. I haven't been into wresting since back in the good old days of Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, etc.
  13. No clear guidelines really. When trouble shooting an emulator, it's best to use the debug feature. When troubleshooting an error in GameEx then the log file is what we would ask for. When no errors are given but weird behavior is when we ask for the GameEx.ini so that we can see the users settings and see what may be causing it. It all really depends on the issue. The best source at the moment is Tempest's guide. Not many emulators need a loader/wrapper so best place to know is my list of emulators as I have them marked as needing a loader when needed. I will update soon to include more emus. I've just been busy with real-life. We started a topic a long time ago where it listed emulators that needed wrappers. Tempest pretty much covers the most common ones in his thread and my unreleased multi-loader will include them as well. If need be I can always write some tutorials that are needed.
  14. hmmmm. Never seen that error before when exiting an emulator. Google turned up this. Sorry I can't be of more help.
  15. LOL. It's always an easy fix but just need to utilize the tools that are there. Tom makes GameEx easy to troubleshoot for users but those tools are rarely used. I usually always test an emulator from the command-line so I can see the output before I attempt to get it working in GameEx. I always hear the classic, "But it works outside of GameEx"! LOL. Which isn't true cuz if worked out of GameEx then would work in it as well. Just need to always test from command-line or make use of the debug feature if problems arise. Am glad you got it working. Yay. Have fun!
  16. Log will not help in this situation. Try running in debug mode so that the command window shows and it will show an error of some sort that will be useful. Then post the results please.
  17. What kind of issues are you having?
  18. Please try running and then exit GameEx. Then run using the runitgame.bat file and see if it's still an issue. Then we can narrow it down to either GameEx or something else.

WMP can not play these files natively so therefore can not run in GameEx without the use of an external player. I did read in a forum somewhere that these can be played in WMP using the k-lite codec pack but I have no experience in that. I'm not willing to test it on my end either. LOL. Sorry! There are external players that plays these files but don't have a nice interface to play them. But something to look into if you really need these to be played. Moonshell does have players for Windows included.
  20. Thanks Tom!
  21. Resolved! OP had two issues. First issue was that it would run but wouldn't autoload. Fix was to add the "-auto" parameter in the shortcut. Second issue was that emulator was not closing correctly so GameEx had trouble taking back focus. Fix for that was to ensure that the working path and the rom path were the same when dealing with shortcuts. Enjoy pacsniper! Hope you find GameEx to be worth the donation.
  22. Just got back. And i'm talking about the chat room in the link about the forums. Not the one on GameEx.com.
  23. Please go to chat room for real-time support. I'll hang out there for awhile.
  24. Using the MAME Emu Maps feature will give you the results you're after. This will allow you to choose which emulator to run a specific rom from (i.e. Alternate version of MAME or another emulator). There is a file called mameemumap.ini found in the CONFIG directory of your GameEx install that allows you to edit it. Examples are provided within the file. Tempest has also created a GUI for this feature and it's included with the GameEx install. Details on GUI can be found here.
