  1. Nice compact design. Love the original plunger. New vow:incorperate something original on all builds.....
  2. A crown given the the right chap! Have a wallnut...
  3. AimTrak. Litlle dough, but saves a lot of headaches (well, some...)
  4. That would certainly be something to see!
  5. I've been pleasantly surprised by the combo of Stablebit and WHS2011. Basically, lot less fussy over drives than WHS1. When you slot a drive in, it's just as if you've added a drive to your PC. You can see all the files still on it. You choose which drives you make pool drives and which you leave as 'stand alone.' This would help with your data transfer task. You thinking about building/buying a new system? If so, you could go for one 2/3TB new drive and then slot your drives in one by one + transfer to the new pool drive. Once they're transferred, you could then add your 'old' drives to the pool ...ad infinitum. Good luck to you, Hans.... taken me about 2/3 months to get sorted, but once yer there, it is defo worth it.
  6. Ah..yeah....that's right....errr, I had a total rationale apart from "free, loud and it flashes"
  7. Dive in, tthurman. Give yourself a year and permission to make mistakes, and you'll be golden! Oh, and why not put yourself on the map whilst you're at it!? (Apologies, regulars!) Draco - it is! Old 150W stereo lying round my loft. Makes for fantastic sound in the cab (with two corresponding old sony car speakers at the top and the bottom, a Sub + amp I bought from a local car boot for £30!)
  8. Shout! The four Soul Reaver games for £3.71!!!! You couldn't buy better at my local flea market. Just hope the Crystal Dynamics crew see a share....
  9. Thought I'd update, Hans. Just finished updating my MediaSmart EX495 to WHS 2011. Summary: Definitely do it! WHS 2011 is solid + runs like a dream. Was having probs with V1 + disks, and not as hard as I thought. It did take a little expense and time, but overall very worth it. Here's what you'd definitely need: 1x copy of WHS 2011 @ around $40 Either: a) 8Gb usb stick (necessary for 'headless installation', optional if with debug board) USB CD/DVD drive (if not using usb method) And that's it! However, what can make your life easier: a) Debug board - allows you to plug in a monitor to your server to watch the installation Processor upgrade (very easy + around £30) c) Memory upgrade (again, easy, but not cheap at around £60) - i haven't done this yet - system runs fine @ 2GB - but maxes out. d) USB keyboard and mouse As for your q's: Pooling and duplication - buy StableBit drivepool @ around $10 - better than DE imho. Auto client backups - native to WHS2011 Windows environment - very! Nice clean, intuitive dashboard interface + good RDP uTorrent + other software - Takes a bit of time, but got uTorrent and Emule up and running as services in a day. Server now runs these - can log into either via web interface, making using magnet/torretn/ed2k links a doddle. Also, use NOD32 anti-virus (not too expensive). Can't emphasize enough how worth it it is! However, I would seriously consider getting one 3TB drive (or 2x2TB if cheaper?) - I had 2TB and made things sooo much easier and safer to have it all on one disk. If you decide to take the plunge - gimme a shout and can direct you the right way in terms of links etc.... cheers EDIT: Oooops sorry. I thought you had a mediasmart server - this may have no relevance at all!! :/
  10. Damn - the passage of time... Windows 95 was me first 'steady' - at Uni. Then parted ways whilst I worked in a fields very anti-IT and poorly resourced. Home PCs cost about £1,498,435.67p at that point. Then fast forward to 2002. Bought my first home PC - foolishly a Time PC from a full page ad in Computer Active (or summat like that) - it cost £1000!! Paid in monthlies! It came with ... XP!!! Albeit "Kwik Save, no frills, added saturated fat" Home edition. Great OS, but soon had to upgrade to Pro due to limitations of home. Been surfing on it ever since. Skipped Vista (thank god), got Windows 7 on a laptop (pre-installed) - nice and solid, but took some 'adjustment' to the new layout/operation. Most recently, gone to Windows 8 - mainly because of the £50 upgrade offer from XP that was floating about at launch. Gotta say - haven't looked back - it's solid. But yes, cheers XP - time to buy the cruise and have a peanut.
  11. Nope - it's not that either.
  12. Naw - don't think so Draco - anyways - one of first things I tried - re-entering my password into gameex. I will double check tomorrow though, because I remember looking at it tonight - lot more dots in the password field than the actual password - rmember re-changing it first time i noticed that, and then just singing it off as a setup wizard security thing.. cheers
  13. Thanks, but nope - no joy. Did all above, back to where I started. Had a look at the old vdf file + the newly generated one. Very different. The old had a whole number of what looked like game id's followed by a decryption number the new one doesn't have these. Wonder what's going on?
  14. Thanks null, but nope - no joy with either - on 13.25. Deleted steamdata.ini - presuming rebuilt at startup. Still only 14 items.... Hmmm - no idea on this one... EDIT - just had a butchers at my steamdata.ini - only 14 games in their too - seems that the others aren't getting picked up by the scan. The missing games play from my steam browser. :/
  15. Hi folks. Sure this was working OK before. Just turned on my cab again for first time in a few weeks. My Steam library has 20 games. However, my GameEx Steam library only 14 - some key ones missing, including Sine Mora. What I've tried: - Re-entering the steam settings in setup wizard - deleting all the cache files in data No joy. Any ideas?
  16. Done, done and done, cheers Draco! The tags feedback is very helpful as takes knowing what kinda tags people want ....
  17. whoa.. have a peanut for simple issue cause much furore. .
  18. Forgive this, but...lol.
  19. Thanks... but they give you peanuts too?
  20. If you think they would be of interest to others, Hans then definitely add them!! ..and that is one of the main ideas of this Found out a while ago that there's a fella who lives 15 miles away who makes them too....in...some...forum...post..I..read...once. Can I remember which post/forum!? No. However, a map of builders, you say?....
  21. Anyone know how to do it? Don't want to have users navigate away from GameEx when clicking a link....feels like poor form... So, anyone know the bbcode to include a link, but this opens in separate tab/window on click? (a bit like the _blank,_top etc tags in html?)
  22. Coming along nicely... Fancy putting this on the map?
  23. Definitely want this one on the map!
