  1. By the way, just to let you know, the MAME game list and MAME favorites is a lot less likely to get corrupted if you you do a hard shutdown etc. I made an update a few versions ago, and the list is only saved when a favorite is added or removed on exiting GameEx and not everytime GameEx exits. By the way Emph, did you ever notice I added your text for Playstation ages ago!?

I miss him too emph. I mailed him a couple of times, but got no response. So I removed his moderator status as a security measure. He's likely just got very busy. At least I hope it's that.
  3. So attract mode is playing music and cycling mame games and videos, and GameExtender in the config app is not set to enabled?
  4. I checked this out, and it turns out its a bug in GameEx. I've fixed it and it will be in the next release, which will be this week.
  5. GameEx automatically creates a map file when loading emulators, it's in the data directory. You can tell GameEx to use this instead of scanning for files each session. To update then you will need to tell it not to use the map file, then once created use it again. GameEx has a Navigate Back function sort of like a web browser you should be using that to go back rather than going through all the menus again. Look at my docs page for what keys and buttons do this "Back" When an emulator is using a database file the Create Snaps option is not shown. There is also an option in the config to hide this button completly. You only get a browse by name etc when an emulator has a database, and we don't have one for Visual Pinball Yet. Ill add some of this stuff to the FAQ, some of this has been asked a couple of times now. Thanks. Tom
  6. You should, that way I won't forget.
  7. It just flashes once for me, which its supposed to do when exiting from full screen. I've not changed how GameEx handles exit for a while, what version did you upgrade from? I'll look into the memory leak. Ill leave it running on my cab. Could you tell me, does your attract mode launch videos too, and did you have the jukebox playing? EDIT: Also, is GameExtender enabled on your system?

Emph, just to let you know, DJRobX seems to be MIA.
  9. You get more cheeky by the day Emph, fortunatly for you though I am starting to understand your odd sense of humor. I'm starting to think you want to take over development of GameEx?
  10. Actually sorry, I don't think you can do it with attract mode, it just works when actually playing a MAME game.
  11. Also check you don't have an advanced emulator config set.
  12. It only works if you have a keyboard with media controls, or a remote that has media controls. ie, next and previous keys/buttons.
  13. Fixed in 5.85 - Available now. Thanks for reporting.
  14. I've still not ruled it completely out, especially now there's a theme editor, but feel free to go ahead, can't guarantee anything though.
  15. Thanks for the words, glad your having fun. You will get a key in your email, and I have no plans at the moment to ask people to donate again for newer versions.
  16. My bad, it's actually supposed to exit when you press a gamepad button. I messed up on that one, its supposed to do that. What should work now is pressing coin in to stay in attract mode, so 4 or 5 on the keyboard.
  17. My personal preference is just to turn "Down" the emulation options for sound in all games. Also MAME32FX has much better sound and its not such an issue with that build, if an issue at all.
  18. Thanks guys. Feedback like this wants me to keep it up.
  19. The log would help when it crashes, but answer to both is no its not possible.
  20. http://tomspeirs.com/gameEx/docs.htm Q: "My Games" does not show on the Windows Media Center start page, how can I get it to show up? A: Windows Media Center (MCE) has a fixed amount of maximum programs you can show on the Start Menu. You need to remove some existing programs. To remove a program, right click on it with the mouse or when selected press info/more on the remote.
  21. Did you tick Install DirectX Karaoke when installing GameEx?
  22. Did you try this? Go into Favorites, select "By System" from the menu on the left

    emu layouts

    no, sorry, not available yet.
  24. You can see the last game that was played in the screensaver by selecting "Last MAME game" Also - the dont exit game by doing coin-in should be fixed in the latest release.
  25. 19th March 2006 - GameEx 5.83 There's now the facility to view Favourites (we spell it like that in England) by System/Emulator. After exiting from a random game you will be left on the game information page for the game, so you can see what it is, and add it to favourites. DVD's module now caches the list of DVD's the first time it's loaded during a session. Fixes audio level output not showing for the track when it's showing in the list. There's a new additional WAV sound file GameEx uses - launch.wav. This is played whenever a game is launched. This release should fix being able to not exit attract mode if you press coin in or press a joystick button. If it's still not working for you please report on the forums.
