  1. Anyone else have this issue?
  2. Heres a small app which closes and restarts GameEx. Just add the .bat file as an external applicatio, and place both in the GameEx folder. Note it does kill gameex, so probably not a good idea to use too much, but knowing .net and XP its probably quite stable. CloseAndRestartGameEx.zip
  3. This post might help. It shows how to keep relaunching GameEx when it closes. http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=1431 You could alo probably create a small bat file that could be added to External Application, that simply closes GameEx and reloads it. Ill write a small .net app later myself to do this if I get time. Cheers Tom.
  4. Hold on theres no need to get a tude, why not be patient to see if you get other suggestions, or simply ask for other suggestions, without all the I'm paid up bollocks. If you want a refund for GameEx Ill give it to you with pleasure, but be pleasant otherwise please. This person was taking time out of his day to help you, even if it was not what you wanted. I think what the user was getting at was, see if uninstalling .net 2.0 and installing 1.1 helps. OK GameEx should work with 2.0, but if its not I need to know, and doing the suggestion is the way to find out. In addition I find it highly unlikely (but not impossible )that the GameEx code directly is causing this problem. It could be your drivers, codecs, or spyware etc, and no one else has reported this problem. Believe me people would shout very loudly on this forum if it was a big issue. Comprende Amigo? Tom. EDIT: I am not 100% sure on this, but I am fairly certain GameEx will not use .net framework 2.0 it will only use 1.1 or 1.0. Therefore if 1.1 is not installed it will run on 1.0 even if 2.0 is installed. Its a confusing situation that MS have created. .net framework 2.0 is not an update more of a completley new version. Its like comparing a windows service pack to a brand new version of windows. Look at the GameEx log file to see which versions you have installed. Your'll also notice one does not upgrade and replace another, as Im saying above.
  5. Its fairly easy to keep running GameEx if its not loaded by just setting up a batch file that loops, but not to easy to tell if it is crashed even with a custom exe to do that. It really shouldnt crash if its setup properly. What sort of crashes are you getting? Or are you talking about emulators crashes? Run notepad. Paste in this: cd "c:\program files\gameex\" "c:\program files\gameex\gameex.exe" call gameex.bat Select Save as, Select All file types and save gameex.bat in c:\program files\gameex Then run gameex.bat instead of gameex.exe
  6. Yes, I did take a look at your log and GameEx code, and for the moment cant figure why this is happening. Ill look at it some more, please be patient. Thanks. Tom.
  7. This should be possible in the next release of GameEx. I am a little busy with real world stuff at the moment, but should not be too long. Thanks.
  8. Nice site wastedmind.
  9. This is correct, and much better than how I would have explained it. Thanks, Tom.
  10. Exactly as Headkaze says a nag screen is a nag screen, no more no less. I'd like you to use and get the most out of GameEx but your under no obligations. If you've been around yourll see feature requests are actively encouraged, there's been hundreds of them, and I've implemented far more than outstanding ones. Unfortunatly although I see myself as a wizz with software, it still takes times. As I said everything gets considered. Sometimes people get a minor gripe about my priorities, but that's only I believe because I've set expectations at such a high level. That's life, people start expecting you to go beyond each time, and I get no extra payment for implementing things for users who have already paid. In terms of time even at minimum wage, youd see in terms of other peoples time, way more than $19 has been spent on this topic. No worries, but lets just look at things in realistic terms a little. Above all else, this is supposed to be fun, for me, for Headkaze and everyone else here. If it stops being that I'll likely stop.
  11. MAME itself determines the resolution it will run at. By default it trys to detect the most suitable resolution based on the game. You can make it use a fixed resolution, and also just make it use the desktop resolution. I won't explain how you do all this now, kinda busy on something. However the only version I know that allows you to switch resolutions on the fly is AdvanceMAME.
  12. Could you try telling it not to play videos, and see if it's any better please? Could you also post your log, so I can see what operating system and other hardware you have. Thanks.
  13. Note: There will be a further fix relating to this in the next version. I can still see an issue in the code. Shouldn't be long. Cheers. Tom
  14. There was a fix relating to this a few versions back. Are you running the latest version. 5.31 was before this fix I think.
  15. GameEx should re-scan for gamepad devices upon exiting a game. Is it working?
  16. Hi all, I just wanted to say thanks for all the folks who help users on the forum, and contribute to GameEx, you know who you are.. It sometimes gets too overwhelming for me to answer all the posts, although I try hard, believe it or not I do also work for a living, and have other stuff going on all the time! Wanted to say feel free to let me know if you think I should be adding stickies, or updating the docs, or aything where it will help people, as well as the user feature requests. I know there's a donation/shareware system in place, but as you can tell from the feature requests, and how I try to help, I believe GameEx should be highly shaped by the user base. Believe me, if I thought GameEx wasn't or can't be the best overall front end available I would not accept money. You guys help me enormously on my unrealistic goal of perfection Cheers. Tom
  17. You should have your key now, it often only takes less than a couple of hours when I am here. Any problems with the key itsself or if you didnt get it contact me by email. Thanks Tom
  18. Looks interesting. I am wanting to build support for adding custom lists to GameEx. Not sure this is the best approach, but could you please add a link where I can read a little a bit about it. Thanks.
  19. These days, digital music uses tags in the mp3 or other formats to store the album, artist info etc. GameEx looks at these tags in the actual files and not folders on your hard disk to determine the info. It will automatically scan for new music and update the list, but you need to tag your audio collection. There's various software available that will do this automatically if you have your MP3's organised nicely in folders. You can also manually edit the tags in just about any audio player including Windows Media Player.
  20. I would have thought yourll get more help on that forum, but Im assuming you've looked at "Girder"? I don't know much about it other than its supposed to do this kind of stuff.
  21. Also Bill. I should have asked for this before, but please post your GameEx log file.
  22. hey Bill, just wanted to confirm although you said any version of MAME runs fine without GameEx, are you actually using the run last game option? Could you post the contents of this (right click, then edit). Also, is GameEx playing any music, ambiance, or radio when using MAME? What do you have set for the MAME audio mode? This could be reason for sound issue, although this should be apparant also when using run last game. Just to clarify - Its important for me to help troubleshoot this, that when comparing running from gameex and without gameEx, you use "Run Last Game" from the program group.
  23. This should be fixed in 5.88. Released Yesterday.
  24. Please try 5.88, released Yesterday, and let me know if there is any improvement. If as you say you have GameExtender turned off, then I am pretty sure the problem is down to videos playing. I could not see anything really wrong, although I made it stop loading all the GameEx graphics each time directx needs to be reinitialise, and forced garbage collection before a video is played. Ill get my cab running, but let me know. Cheers. Tom
