  1. 13th May, 2006 - GameEx 6.09 For registered users - GameEx now has complete automatic update functionality It detects if a new stable version is available and if enabled, automatically downloads and performs an automated install next time GameEx is run No user interaction is required whatsoever, and it does not require a reboot It also only downloads the full 18MB themes package when your using them and then only when they have changed Be aware this feature is enabled by default under Enable/Disable settings The startup video can now be a relative path Fixes V2 themes when GameEx set to not switch resolution Create MAME videos now creates videos so that every game in the list shows one Screenshot of automatic Update: http://tomspeirs.com/gameEx/images/AutoUpdate1.png
  2. Can you try this version of GameEx.exe please. See if its any better. Thanks. http://tomspeirs.com/gameex/download/gameex.zip Edit: Note it still should not be creating a video for every single game you have in the list. It will create a video for every parent rom (in the list), and then for every clone where a video does not exist for the parent rom. This should mean that when navigating the lists in GameEx you see a video for every game, but again does not mean there's a video for every rom.
  3. Yeah looks great, and I'm as pleased as Headkaze that the theme editor is getting some use. If you've not already feel free to upload it, no problems here. Ill get it on the site as soon as I can. Thanks again for another great contribution. Tom
  4. Try adding this command line option. It's set under the first option in advanced mame config. -norotate If that does not work, try experimenting with these -noror -norol -noautoror -noautorol -noflipx -noflipy
  5. Hi all, I'd like some feedback on the new install if possible. Any takers?
  6. It looks normal to me, considering your using Bezels. Maybe the issue is the other machine is not using Bezels. This might have been turned on by the new Bezel feature in GameEx, although that should just be for vertical games. Try disabling the option under Basic MAME settings.

  8. 9th May, 2006 - GameEx 6.06. The GameEx download has been reduce by nearly 70% to just over 11MB as the themes are now downloaded seperatly, and only 1 theme is included with the basic install However, by default the existing themes will be downloaded and installed when installing GameEx, and the extra download size is 18MB You can however tick the checkbox to not have it download the themes, say for example you have a low bandiwdth connection, or are already using a recent version. For offline installs the themes archive is also available on the downloads page And yes I completely understand how much a dial-up connection sucks! Hopefully this helps a little. In relation to GameEx this makes a 50KB connection equivalent to a 128KB connection or there abouts.
  9. Hi, Can you confirm you dont get the game list update issue when your cab is running in horizontal mode? Yes, I do plan to add support for rotating the other way, but not right away. There is a way to reverse this physically on your cab by changing the wiring, but I don't have any details on it. Thanks, Tom
  10. Thanks for all the nice words folks. This was only meant to be a small note, but I appreciate it a real lot. I hope you all don't mind but I am going to lock this thread because I don't want it to detract to all the other real work and fun that's going on here All the best, Tom.
  11. As you say its a DirectDraw limitation. Its actually not really alpha blending at all.
  12. 8th May, 2006 - GameEx 6.03 By popular request: Two new themes included in install: RedEx MCE, and RedEx Arcade Thanks to Headkaze for providing updated images, and thanks to Rob for the original versions Fixes slide show transition when not using alpha blend Create MAME videos now works if using a V2 theme Create MAME Videos will now create videos for clones when the parent rom is not in the games list. In other words, it should create videos for every single game you have listed in GameEx. New Bezel feature will now detect and use existing artwork if found.
  13. You can only create videos for MAME and the option is in the Windows program group. For emulators you have to temporarily hide the database (added that to the FAQ today).
  14. The latest version just uploaded should automatically add the command lines. See if it works. Thanks, Tom
  15. Thanks, yes USD. Tom
  16. 8th May, 2006 - New BubbleBobble Theme BubbleBobble theme available on the downloads page. Special request for Eric's daughter! Thanks to Oxbow for the original theme. I hope you don't mind. 8th May, 2006 - GameEx 6.02 Hopefully fixes font issue reported by Headkaze Fixes 3d alpha blended transitions at 32-bit colour Automatically adds MAME CMD line options for new bezel feature Fixes V2 theme image centering
  17. Hi all, Now I am not proclaiming to be some kind of saint here, but please report to me any piracy or cracking or attempts of to me. I am a 1 person independent publisher trying to do something new, creative and cool, and despite over 3000 downloads of GameEx a month for the last year, only a very tiny fraction of users donate and register. I've said it before but I am not making a killing off GameEx and it does not pay the bills. I give a large percentage of my life to the project mainly because I love it, and I also invest not only time but money into the project. I'm not begging you to register here, but if your not happy with the free version I give away at cost to me, then please don't steal from me, and use another front end. So far I've been lucky, but that can't go onto forever. Thanks for your time, Tom.
  18. If its not working and the setting is turned on, try adding the following mame options under advanced mame settings -artwork -artwork_directory artwork The option should be called "Use Bezel". If its not there, please verify your actually using 6.01 Thanks.
  19. Select the option to play music at startup. If a radio station is playing when exiting GameEx it should then play at startup.
  20. Ill look into it. Thanks.
  21. Glad its working out for you. In regards to Amazon, it aint exactly broke, so it's low priority for me.
  22. Hi Romstar, thanks for the kind words. Unfortunatly the problem lies entirely with NVidia. I wish I had the skill, knowldege and time to hack there drivers but I don't It seem they fixed the problem in newer drivers but only for there newer chipsets(cards). Theres nothing I can do, the problem does not lie here but with Nvidia. Of course you do have the option of buying a new video card. They move on so fast so you could probably get something better than your existing one one for only a small price. Say something like an ATI X1300, or Nvidia 7300, or if you've got an AGP slot pick up an ATI 9600/9600 Pro cheap off ebay.
  23. Don't know, its working fine for me. Perhaps something to do with the version of MAME your running? Also try using a normal theme, does that make a difference? Yeah, its the V2 theme that's screwing it up. Ill get it fixed.
  24. When I say folder.jpg and album.jpg that means literally! Rename the file to folder.jpg
