  1. Hi Adultry, Is the GameEx HQ site ready enough for me to promote and add links to it from the GameEx site? Looks like you did quite a bit while I was away, but I'm not sure? Let me know either way. Thanks, Tom.
  2. Don't have a solution off the top of my head, but just for your info the key code its detecting appears to be "arrow down"

    DVD issue

PowerDVD version 5 is pretty old, and that may be the issue. There has been other reports that I broke DVD playback in recent versions for some people. As far as I can tell, they and yourself are all running old versions of DVD software. What I really need to know is if newer versions work. Can you try the latest version of PowerDVD, even just temporarily? There is no setting to tell GameEx which DVD drive to use. It just uses the first one it finds. Tom.
  4. Not so. If GameEx is refreshing the list each time than it is in fact a bug. GameEx should only refresh the list once per session, and Random Game should only be slow the first time it is selected in a session, as it loads all lists and should then cache them. So the Screensaver should in fact only be slow on the first game it selects. Only seems mildly impractibale to me, not highly, and I could always load the emu lists on a thread, and play a MAME game or video first. If its a bug let me know.

    DVD issue

Yes I think GameEx should be able to handle them in that format, by using DVD's on disk. In terms of them not playing, could you please tell me what OS your running, what hardware, and which DVD Codecs (and versions) you tried. Thanks.
  6. Thanks for taking the time to post back, I really appreciate how most folks on this forum do by the way. Glad you got it figured it.
  7. I'll do it if there's more demand, for sure, and it should be possible.
  8. Exactly. It was for one of the GameEx partners, to stop kids playing to much on a demo cabinet unit in a shop.
  9. Not sure what's going on here. I tested with older MAME version, and its changing games for me. Anyone else have this problem? I also checked the code, and the screensaver is deffinitly getting disabled when launching games. Can you check the new setting under Enable/Disable settings. Last one Auto Exit Games. Is it disabled? That's the only real thing that could have at all possibly affected this. Are you using my MAME screensaver, or something like that? Just a wild stab in the dark there!
  10. The issue (and its a big one) I have with using Direct3d when its not necessary as with MAME .107. Is that DirectDraw runs great through terminal services and VMWARE, Virtual PC etc. I do most of my development through terminal services, and MAME .107 dont run on it, and Direct3d in emulation mode is worse than watching paint dry. Wheras GameEx and older MAME runs at about 30 fps through terminal services, it also runs on VMWARE and virtual PC. Maybe they should have a few folks at MS considering things like this next time they decide to drop something.

    Dvds

I know it's a lot to ask but can you temporarily uninstall WinDVD4 and try out the "latest" evaluation version of PowerDVD or Nvidia DVD? I think this problem is related to older versions of DVD software, and WinDVD 4 is really old software now. It's difficult to find a version of WinDVD that old, so I can't test and try to fix with it. Thanks. Tom
  12. Yes, the game list output from mame in .107 has the screen resolution settings reversed for vertical games, so when using arcadevga settings GameEx told vertical games to run at the wrong resolution.
  13. Hi, I think it just uses the first button on the pad, and a couple more for credits and player start. I think Daphne may support a gamepad now anyway but I'm not sure. It's not currently possible to change the mapping.
  14. Thanks Nivo, as I've said to others before, positive encoruagment always goes a long way with me:) NOTE: If your using ArcadeVGA settings and MAME 0.107 make sure you update the games list.
  15. 1st August, 2006 - GameEx 6.53 Fixes vertical games when using ArcadeVGA settings with MAME 0.107 Animation added when dialog box shows 6.52 improved speed of loading Jukebox when in file tag mode
  16. I don't think your gamepad issue could be anything to do with GameEx installing files or the .net framework. I know you say nothing else has changed, but I can't personally see how the GameEx or the .net install could affect it. Did you update your version of MAME or drivers or anything else you can think of? In terms of the Bypass, it currently has no way of checking whether the keys have beem accepted by MAME, so sometimes sends the key strokes a short while after the games have started. The high process priority setting in MAME could also cause a problem with this and make GameEx send the keys a lot longer. If your using a MAME build that does not need the bypass you can turn it off, or its safe to turn off anyway.
  17. I was referring to the fonts setting. For Horizontal yes 640 X 280 or 640 X 264. Not for vertical though, sorry.
  18. It does run interlaced (flicker), but unlike Windows it should look ok/good in GameEx.
  19. Sorry, Vertical use needs to be at 640X480 or above, but try it out, in my opinion it actually lets better this way on arcade montitor, its what I run mine at. Make sure you have anti aliasing turned on, and you can use the hidden NoRotatraionRestrictions setting to make it use 32 bit colour (ant antialiasing)when rotated. I dont think your'll be disapointed if you have a fastish PC. Thanks, Tom.

    Autoupdate

You shouldn't loose anything, one of the great things about GameEx is its installation and auto upgrade. Just install over the top of your existing install. Tom PS: The high scores are stored in MAME not GameEx

The solution should be to go to the GameEx web site, and manually download and install the latest version. The resolution issue is probably due to your old PC hardware.
  22. Thanks for this, and yes I would consider this a bug, and I'll try to get it fixed when I get a chance. Tom.
  23. Could you post the log and error, so I can take a look? Tom

    Dvds

Thanks for posting. Could you tell me what DVD Codec/Software you are using and which version? Also do you know if you have the Radeon 7 or 9 series ArcadeVGA card. Thanks, Tom.
  25. I was not aware it was possible to change these keys. Seems to work fine for me both with the remote and A and S in MAME and the screensaver, but the A & S are not set to work when in an emulator, only the Media Keys/Buttons.
