  1. It always used to error on startup if an emulator was setup incorrectly to the extent that it just would not work. What I did do is try not doing this and just disabling the emulator in the versions last week. I then realised that non experts and newbies would have absolutely no idea why there emulators where not showing up, so decided to put it back how it was. Headkaze is absolutely correct that there could be a better way, and I like his suggestion. but for now until I get round to it I think this is best.
  2. Try telling GameEx not to change resolution. What resolutions are the displays running at?
  3. No ideas at the moment. Yourll need to post your config PS. Sounds like your using a launcher to launch house of the dead. Is that right? You make it sound like this issue occured when you upgraded GameEx from an earlier version, and that it was previously working. Is that deffinitly the case?
  4. Looks OK to me. Can you double test?
  5. HK is the man. He earns his weight (and by the pictures is a chunk) all the time I dont know if your interested HK if not totally fine, but Im thinking about adding a setup wizard to GameEx, ie to guide the user through setting up mame and the multimedia folders etc. I plan on making it kind of like a setup/install program which will follow on from the initial gameex install. Id quite like to have a go myself, so only do it if its something youd like to (but it would be helping me out). Just asking, and you know Id appreciate it. Get me on mail if your interested. Id need the source code though just so you know, but can be in c#. EDIT: You could also add it on to the current gameex install which is done in inno setup and has a coded back end which is in Delphi (which is very nice, and good to know). I can give you the code for what I have.
  6. Yourll need to provide a little more info. There was also a caching issue in the latest versios, which is fixed in the latest. If the emu is not showing up in gameex at all, gameex likely disabled it as it was set up wrong. Look in the log for the reason why.
  7. This should be fixed in the latest version. If not can you let me know.
  8. No, but someone already posted in the feature requests.
  9. Thanks Headkaze. I think thats why I held off on doing it before. Ill probably not have it turned on by default in the future, although for now it gets it tested. I've got the emulator launching code pretty solid so when the emulators do crash, unless its not system wide compeltely screwing up windows, gameex should still run quite happily along. I think yourll find most of the time even when they crash GameEx should still be running OK. We'll see. Cheers, Tom
  10. 31st August, 2006 - GameEx 6.72 Random game can now launch goodmerge games Quicker Screensaver exit and less wait between games Slightly quicker startup and exit from games Screenaver should now properly clear keyboard buffer Fixes possible sound fx issues as audio files are now properly disposed of before reloading If an advanced emulator config is used and a key set to exit, now if the application does not exit it will be forced to For registered users its now possible to run other emulators in attract mode (turned on by default)
  11. I mean GameEx can do the same thing technically as joytokey via an advanced emulator config, and I think theres already one included in the install for visual pinball.
  12. Im not answering your question, but did you know GameEx has its own built in joytokey support??
  13. Already done. Will be in next version, along with running other emulator systems in attract mode. Excited!?
  14. Actually a bit of both, in that its a limitation, but bug that GameEx tries to launch goodmerged games. Either way its not to do with this version, but thanks for reminding me.
  15. Sorry no, not for the moment.
  16. I think multithreading is the way to go, GameEx is such an app where I've tried to take a little advantage. Me personally would rather have two cores/cpus than two "somehow" binded as one. I can only see the benefit of being for games, or emulation, as most good apps should be able to take advantage of threading. EDIT: Im also really looking forward to the quad core cpus.
  17. Not ISO, but VOB and IFO.
  18. I cant think of anything that I changed here. Have you tried specifing the full path to MCE Navi cfg? e.g LaunchOnExitNoWait="C:\Program Files\GameEx\JoyToKeyMCE.exe" "C:\Program Files\GameEx\MCE Navi.cfg"
  19. You can probably think of a low res arcade monitor as a low definition TV but slightly better. Using an arcade VGA card will also give you better quality than say watching a dvd on your tv via RCA/composite or RF, probably even svideo/scart. So yes they look pretty good or at least as good as a tv from the same era, but yourll probably want to run them interlaced at 640 X 480. ie like how a tv runs.
  20. Yes, I am here, thanks for the reports. I'm working on it.
  21. I apologise for all the buggy releases prior to this last week, and thanks for everyones patience, and for everyone who helped test it for me. I think we really have an optimized GameEx now. 10,000 long emulator lists can load up instantly, massive audio collections to. Returning from emulators and MAME is now snappy, and me personally on my fastest system I can get GameEx to startup in just under 2 seconds. Can't be bad.
  22. Its included with the GameEx install. Just tick the checkbox.
  23. 29th August, 2006 - GameEx 6.70 First off I highly recommend upgrading to this release. If you installed one of the buggy versions last week it really is a must Ive removed the load emulators in background scenario and instead implemented really good caching of the emulator lists. This is a hugely better thing, and I'm really pleased with it The jukebox when used in File Tag mode also now uses hugely better caching techniques, and should load in seconds even when you have 10s of thousands of files (assuming you have not added files) Fixed font caching issue when switching between full screen and windowed Fixed Export to MCE putting GameEx in infinite loop
  24. Thanks for this Emph. Ill be adding most of these to the docs page. I think what Ill do ill is pin a topic that points to that. Again, all, please feel free to add more. The existing FAQ is here: http://tomspeirs.com/gameEx/docs.htm
  25. Thanks fo your work on this mamxdsl. If ok with you when complete Ill include it in the GameEx install for others. If not ok that's fine though. Thanks again.
