Sorry, I'm not too sure. GameEx seems to be locking up without even producing an exception, so there's no way for me to tell exactly where it is failing. This would indicate it is not or not entirely GameEx crashing that is causing the problem. Can't really think of anything to suggest, sorry. I guess check your system, and possibility rebuild. Tom.

Just for your info the databases are microsoft Access 2000 files. Should work with Access 2000 and above, and probably a few othe office suites.

Here is your answers. I've modifed the install to work if only .net framework 2.0 is installed, and the GameEx program configurations have been set to work if only the .net framework 2.0 is installed. Basically from now on GameEx is not reliant on the .net framework 1.1. You don't need to have 1.1 installed anymore as long as 2.0 is installed. So there's no need to remove 1.1 support. 2.0 is backward compatible, but this all meant I had to remove support for 1.0. So the answers to the first two questions is great. You dont need .net framework 1.1 installed, and GameEx should install and work with just 2.0 installed. I have not had time to test GameEx on Vista a lot, I'm hoping some folks can tell me what's not working and I added a stickie in the forum for this. I saw that it installed, and ran and that's it. Thanks for reporting Shaun, and thanks for the payment. This is fixed in 6.39, now available. It was due to the new functionality in the LCD plug in that shows the controls information. Thanks again, Tom

2nd July, 2006 - GameEx 6.37 There's now an option to play DVD's with VMR 9. If DVD's won't play and you have a modern system, try this setting. It's better anyway. Hi Headkaze, I've currently turned autoupdate off (on the server level) because of the bug. I expect I'll turn it back on for the next release.

I actually installed the Beta 2 this morning, and did the same thing and got the thing. I dont plan to make GameEx only run on Vista WMC, which is actually what that download proposes, but I do plan to make it run on Vista. I don't need a nudge, just more money, or more time, but thanks a lot for testing it out for me, and for the link. I expect GameEx to run on Vista perfectly come the release to manufacuting, which seems like could be 6-8 months off. Thanks again. Tom

GameEx "automatically" supports the X-Arcade default controls, so there's no setting for it. Glad your having fun

You should just be able to set enable custom keyboard controls to false as GameEx natively supports the X-Arcade. If you do want to reset custom controls ini file itself. You should be able to simply just delete the file, and reinstall GameEx (without uninstalling first). Tom.

You need to select a codec. When you create videos, you should get a window come up for compression options. You should select a good codec to use. Uncompressed should not be selected and does not work anyway. I recommend installing a divx, or xvid encoder and encoding using that. You can get one for free and legally by installing FFDSHOW, but the latest daily build has bugs. This one works: http://cutka.szm.sk/files/ffdshow-20050303-sse.exe Otherwise use Intel Indeo, but the later version included with WinXP does not work with this, you should see an earlier version in the list though, but again xvid or divx is better.

The videos are scaled down a lot, to save on space and make things fast. They should look OK when viewed within GameEx as the snap preview is only small. You may get better quality by running the emulator at a higher or lower resolution. You can also adjust the quality the encoder uses, when choosing the compression method. There should be a button there to change settings, then you can adjust the quality or bitrate. Generally a higher bit rate means better quality.
