Update: Seems the games list mostly updates fine. I noticed the following MAME sections in GameEx showed no games: Lightgun, Horizontal and Vertical. People shouldnt be using unstable MAME builds anyhow, but Ill take a look at adding compatible.

It seems to work fine anyway. PS: Agree about the stable builds.

I hope to do the latter and not for a limited period, but need to check it out first. Has the build in question actually been released yet? If not can someone let me know as soon as it is?

    Thanks for the info Night.
  5. What exactly is the bug?
  6. What does "not displaying correctly" actualy mean? I mean what happens?
  7. So are we saying there's a bug in GameEx, and some games are not showing under the correct categories?
  8. I've just released a new version of GameEx, that should now not truncate the log. I'm not pushing it out as an auto update just yet, so please download it from the site. Try out your old ini, and post the log with 6.48
  9. Post the ini and Ill take a look.
  10. It's there in the configuration application. As I said you may have to click "NEXT" and maybe more than once.
  11. I think this is because either GameEx, windows or the emulator is not running in 32-bit or 16-bit colour colour.
  12. Hi, can you think of anything else that has been changed on your system? New drivers, new software, personal firewall, anti virus/anti spyware or anything like that? In addition, try turning off GameExtender publisher. Does it work if you disable your network connection temporarily. Does it work if you turn off the Slikstik support? What happens when you run GameEx in a window? Has to be some kind of conflict going on.
  13. That's not an easy task to code, don't think it will be in GameEx anytime soon. Might be something out there, but you'd have to somehow get windows to think a gamepad is connected, which is probably way too low level for me. Probably nothing out there, as it would only really be needed for cab users. Of course GameEx can do joy to key though, and as you said key to mouse, but its really easy to control the mouse in windows.
  14. OK, that will likely be what's causing the bug then, if any. Thanks for letting me know. Cheers.

  16. Actually I think its quite a common thing for the display settings to mess up the sound. This was always an issue when Triple Buffer was turned on for me on a bunch of different machines. The solution was to turn off triple buffering or alternatively change the sound latency and sample rate. I always did the latter. I never noticed any degrading of the sound when doing that. Also I think the MAME32FX build of MAME gets rid of these kind of issues, as I believe its main purpose is improved sound. Its the build I tend to use anyway.
  17. Hi emph, check my other reply.
  18. Not sure what I did but your welcome! So might still be an issue there. I believe the alphabetizing option can be set for the emulator? The unzipped directory 'should' get deleted every time you select a game, so it shouldn't build up. Maybe the issue is its not delete subdirectories or something?
  19. Sorry, my bad. Its not under Multimedia/HTPC settings, there's actually a Karaoke settings. Change the path in that section. You might need to click next page to get to it.
  20. I can understand people not reading the docs, but from the docs page. Q: GameEx really uses a lot of the CPU, nearly or exactly 100% A: Set NoWaitSync= True and Sleep=15 in GameEx configuration under Tweaks/Performance. You may need to reduce the sleep setting on older PC's, or you can possibly increase on faster PC's. On an Athlon 3400 64, I can use these settings without any slow down. After running GameEx with these settings and looking at the Performance tab in Task Manager, GameEx was consistently using about 8% of the CPU while it had the focus. Note: In recent versions, mostly GameEx uses 0-1% CPU when it does not have the window focus, regardless of these settings. Basically by default GameEx uses the entire CPU power, but the sleep setting releases back cycles every frame. On the latest CPU's you can get it to run at about 5-10% and still smooth as silk
  21. Sorry about that, there was a bug in earlier versions (and everyone here knows earlier versions can mean a couple of weeks ) that caused auto update not to work correctly, and crash when updating to the latest version exactly as happened to you. This was because the install was not getting time to finish and certain files were not being installed required by the latest version causing it to crash when ran. The fix for this is to do a manual install and download from the web site like you did. There 'should' be no more problems after that, but I'm guessing somehow the update got cached on your PC or by your ISP, unless there is something else I need to fix but I don't think so. If the problem persists please let me know, and can you double check in the log what version is actually installed? Again sorry it crapped out on you. Thanks, Tom.
  22. Assuming you've got a registered version of GameEx you set the location for Karaoke files in the configuration application under Multimeida/HTPC Settings. Then make sure your files are in the path.
  23. OK, First, GameEx does not support Nebula and Kawaks for arcade games. I believe Samurai Showdown is a Neo Geo game, and that runs under MAME fine. I suspect you have out of date games to the version of MAME your using. If you turn off the Verify option under Advance MAME settings, yourll likely get the Neo-Geo games show up. Yourll need to update the list again. Zinc and Model 2 emulator don't play any games that MAME doesn't, only that it runs them a little better. Model 2 is easy to setup in GameEx. Zinc is a little tricky but a search of the forum should help. Again to get the Model 2 and Zinc to work your'l have to update the list again. EDIT: PS: You need a beer
  24. I can see where it's failing, and this normally indicates an older version or unnoficial of MAME. Normally an old version of MAME that's not compatible with GameEx. It could also be a Beta version of MAME that has bugs. Check what version your running. The latest stable version I think is .105 (which is newer than say .80)
  25. Can you do an update then post the GameEx log. Thanks. Tom By the way, thats not the config, the config is called GameEx.ini. Also really need your log after trying to do the update. Also, did you upgrade your version of MAME, or anything like that?
