  2. OK, fun time. Im raffling 2 gameex licenses. If your interested please just reply to this post. Ill pick the winners early next week. Probably Monday. Tom.
  3. No problem, glad I could help. Enjoy.
  4. In the past this has been caused by a bare bone/nlited install of windows. Only known fix as of now is to reinstall windows.
  5. Hi Oddie, This sounds very odd. I suggest tbe following: Unintstall again, but then delete the gameex folder c:\program files\gameex Then install again. I suspect this is caused from an upgrade from a older version, and an old configuration setting. As the programmer I do understand what your saying, and what is happening just dont know why. Anyway try the above.
  6. yeah you copy the file, then edit it. Look at one of the files. It should explain what every thing does. You dont need them for every emu, just when you need to do something like map a gamepad to keyboard or remap keyboard, set exit combination on gamepad etc.
  7. Your welcome, and yes the emu configs are custom. I hope to make it more intuitive but for now, you just take a copy of one of the ini's with windows explorer and rename it. The feature is a little hidden, like I said I hope to make it more intuitive, maybe Ben can do something with them in the setup wizard in the future, or I can code a front end for editing and creating them. Something I want to do at least. Cheers.
  8. To be honest, when Im not developing GameEx (which I love), I normally use it for the non gaming features such as DVDs on disk and Jukebox. I spent most of my young childhood in the arcades as a kid, back when noone worried about there kids going out so much like they do now. To be honest I think I got a little burnt out with it. Also I think partly due to getting older. I spent probably years of my life around video games, and from a very young age. I've lived near a sea side resort all my life, and from the age of about 8 to 18 spent near on at least 1 day a week down there. Even on my own sometimes when my mates had spent there pocket money (US = allowance). From the age of 9 when I got a ZX Spectrum I wanted to be a games programmer. I ended up a programmer at least so Im pretty lucky. Although I love the nostalgia of the old games, and am interested in the new games and consoles from a technical perspective I dont play games too much now, and if I do it will be a classic. Maybe a blast at Joust with my cousin. I do like showing off GameEx both on my cab and HTPC, but I more get a kick out of people like friends kids using and enjoying it.. I mean I get a kick out of other people getting pleasure from GameEx. To me video games are a form of artwork and culture that needs to be cherished. So Im well in favour of MAME as a project etc. I think people forget sometimes just how incredibly awesome MAME is. Im really keen on the emulation/mame scene becoming more legitimate for the classic games. If it was possible to buy the classic roms I certainly would. If I had a goal outside of GameEx it would be to see that happen..
  9. 26th June, 2007 - GameEx 8.19 If available control panel will be shown for nine seconds or until key/button press when launching a game In game control panel shows and exits much quicker. It also shows a screen capture of the game as the background External applications now have options for launch before and launch after Call it getting ready for headkaze's next creation! I hope he lets me use it
  10. Can you post your full log? Do you have this folder present c:\program files\gs? Are you running 64 bit OS? By the way Adobe Acrobat is not a requirement for the manul viewer.
  11. You cant actually design a specific vertical theme, but if you design a theme so it does not require exact placement of items to match up with the background, like the default GameEx themes other than blueex and redex, you should be good. Just have to try it and see.
  12. Ill look at this. If you say play the game for 10 minutes does it still do it, or is it only if you quit the game after a few minutes.
  13. The emulators config is now supposed to replace applications. In the future, Im probably going to make the applications just be emulators with a trimmed down config, and appear under the applications menu, but you should set media portal up as an emulator. Then you can even use GameEx's in built support for mapping the gamepad. Thats the idea anyway! I hope to make it more inuitive in the future.
  14. OK, if its not for you, its not for you.. Its just nonone else has reported these issues with MAME or the Media controls, or thinks the Jukebox is not a Jukebox!! Thats why you got the author of the software showing an interest
  15. Fair enough, although to me it sounds like you have not spent long enough with it. Do what you want...
  16. ah ok, well it has a jukebox.
  17. Yes, and more. Sounds like your running an ancient version of GameEx. Where did you get it from?
  18. 25th June, 2007 - GameEx 8.18 For registered users AutoHotKey style real time key remapping via an advanced emulator configuration file Automatically creates default MAME ROM cfg file before launching a game Fixes HTML apps turned off by default on a new install Much quicker exit from emulators when using an advanced configuration file
  19. Yes, uncheck the boxes to download stuff.
  20. -skip_gameinfo has been an option in MAME for a long time BTW. Its the -skip_disclaimer that was removed. The only remaining screen that wont skip is the third ok screen in mame when emulation is not accurate. IMHO not a problem though, I really dont see the point of playing games that don't work.. Only thing is it also shows for imperfect games such as Galaga (although maybe galaga is perfect now).
  21. Not solved, improved. Or at least will be when I code the file creation into GameEx.

    New HTPC

I would say that Vista Media Center is one of (if not the only) improvements over XP. So just take that into account.
  23. Maybe I should just have GameEx do that then before launching? That definitly works??
  24. Folks, be sure to let me know how this works out. If so I'll improve on it..
